This is one of my favorite hikes I’ve done. It’s not difficult and it’s very scenic. It has a solid trail path, nice walk, water is going down stream, and the moving water is safe to drink. It’s actually really good lol and I’d recommend a sip.It has some nice hills, after starting very open and in the sun, you then start going up the mountain into shaded forest. Temperatures are really good although that is relative. On our hike up we did see a couple of zones where people do rock climb, in a few there were people actively doing it and it looks like a blast. You can go as far up as you’d like and it’s just a really good hike I recommend.

It was little difficult hike for me. Its little steep, but its completely under shade. You can get an amazing view in just 0.2 miles. I hiked for around 2 miles and came back, could not reach the beautiful viewpoint. Go early in Saturday as you may not find a spot for the parking.

This trail is rated HARD. I would agree. Beautiful trail with lots of shade. Trail is not well marked, and you can easily find yourself off trail.Very very rocky, wet, and slippery.Parking, and trail head is in a neighborhood, and is very limited.Dogs are allowed on leash, but I found it impossible to climb this trail with having to navigate climbing over boulders and dragging a leash with a dog attached. Especially a small dog.The higher you get the harder, trickier and slippery the trail becomes.

This is a good beginners trail to see some nice views of the valley and see some beautiful geology of the Wasatch Mountains. Be aware that there is very limited parking at the trail head (less than 20 spots available), so be ready to park further down the road at the designated parking lot, then hike about 1/4 of a mile up to the trailhead. Also remember that this is an on leash area for dogs.

Really pretty and pleasant in the lower canyon. Upper canyon is very steep and slippery and very easy to get off-trail. Coming down from the meadow I slid a good distance on my arse, and not by choice. Probably will stick to the lower canyon from now on. There are so many other hikes in the area that are far more rewarding for the effort.

Ive lived in Sandy my whole life and never hiked here. It was shady almost the entire trail...a little steep in spots, but it was a beautiful hike next to a small creek running by us the entire time. Great hike even though it was 100 degrees. Would recommend for others. Also if you climb, there are many, many routes to choose from.

Great quick escape into the mountains! This is also a dog friendly trail. I used to hike here all the time as a child, man has it gotten popular. With that said it’s still enjoyable (even if you have to park in the overflow section!). Once you make it past the climbing walls the hike gets real good! Keep on moving y’all!

The alltrails app labels this as easy. That may be true for the beginning of the trail but its definitely not that way deeper into the canyon. Very good hike, the start has almost no shade but that transitions into full shade once you get in the canyon. Very green, very pretty.

Really good trail for summer hike. Good shade. The trail follows the stream. We dint complete the full hike since we had kids with us and would be difficult for them. But enjoyed the portion we did complete. Lots of places to sit and take a break. Kids enjoyed climbing over the rocks.

Great trail with a stream and little waterfalls by the trail for over a mile plus. You have to cross the stream and hop on rocks on a few areas so careful of wet feet. A great forest feeling. Since the trailhead is in a neighborhood (posh) parking is super limited.

If you’re looking for a relatively short hike, this is the trail for you. It has some challenging terrain but is overall an easy hike. It’s an hour and a half to the top of the trail if you’re not stopping to drink water or take photos. Bring a big bottle of water (or several plastic bottles) for your hike up. The challenging parts of the hike are about halfway up the trail so it’s a good place to stop if you’re looking for a casual hike, but the view is spectacular if you go on 15-20 mins after the steep incline. In the Spring it’s a lush trail covered by the trees until about 3/4 through the hike. It’s possible to spot rattlesnakes and coyote as big as German Shepards crossing the trail in the Spring if you’re lucky!

Its a nice and relatively easy trail to hike for roughly 3/4 of the hike. It starts to get rockier as you enter the canyon as well as steeper. In March and April you are still likely to see encounter snow and some icy conditions due to lack of sunlight hitting the trail. As you hike further, the hike becomes steep, making it more of a scramble. I would say most people can enjoy this hike. Its a question of how fit and skilled you are to continue further and further up the canyon. This isnt one of my favorite trails but its a good alternative for me.

Great trailhead. Tons of different ways to go and never too crowded. There is great climbing, a waterfall, and a few gorgeous overlooks, and quite a bit of shade on most portions. Very popular trail for dogs, I do NOT recommend if you are not a dog person. Lots of pups on and off leash. Poop bags available most of the time. The only reason I took a star off is because there is very limited parking which can be annoying, the overflow lot is a bit of a walk (but isnt that the reason you cone anyways?).

Really beautiful Spring hike! Plan on getting your feet wet. Youre hiking up the spring runoff for much of the trail. After around the 3/4 mile point, which is a good turnaround for kids, it gets much steeper and remains pretty intense until you reach the overlook. Theres easy overflow parking just down the street from the main parking, which is only a handful of spots.

Love this hike! It drops down into the most beautiful canyon. In the spring/early summer, there is a nice stream but it usually dries up by August. Still just gorgeous and usually cooler because it is shaded by the ginormous rocks that create the canyon. Very dog friendly and my kids love climbing all the rocks and exploring the mini “caves.” Often there are rock climbers, which are fun to watch or do yourself.

Fantastic trail. It has done great views of the valley right when you start. Then you get right into an awesome Canton with big rock faces. There are little waterfalls. The trail is very easy and well maintained for the first mile, you pass rock walls at 0.5-0.75 mile with multiple routes for sport and top roping starting at 5.8 and I saw a couple 5.12s. If you keep going the trail starts becoming overgrown and is a little steeper but still fairly easy. The view is ok but nothing exceptional. Recommend finishing once but not worth multiple trips.
