Important historical information. The current exhibit is in regards to the brave Coronado wives of Vietnam War POWs who spoke out and created the movement of Letters to Hanoi, rallying for fair treatment in POW camps. While heartbreaking, it is a powerful testament to the women and families who stood strong in the midst of uncertainty and oppression. Some highlights include the support bracelet chandelier, a silver tea set with an engraved cup for each soldier and a comparison of Stockdales pilot jacket with the POW smock. There is also a small room with various new objects collected by archives. The museum is FREE and connected to a lovely lunch cafe with a good happy hour. Be sure to check out the Coronado Museum of History if you are in the area.
Actually I went to Tent City to eat. Conveniently found the museum in the same building next door. Pretty cool.
We spent about 45 minutes there. I think I could be there for 3 hours at the museum. There is a lot to see and read. A long time resident of the area was very nice to us and told us a lot of things in the area. Her name was Carolyn. If you are visiting here, its a good place to start at the visitors center.
It is a Very small museum. It is free to visitor. The staff at the info desk has great info. It was quick look into the Coronado history. It is a nice stop during your walk along the Orange Ave or before after hit the beach.
Excellent place come and grab a piece of Southern California and American history. The ladies up front were so kind and helpful. The displays were a treat and its Free!! How about that; not to mention that its family friendly too. Stop by and enjoy! GOD BLESS!!
Stop in. Interesting timeline on the wall of Coronado island history was my favorite part. Neat recordings of residents also. Marilyn Monroe section added a little sparkle too the exhibit. A good way to get background at no cost! A gift shop and coffee shop in same building but I didnt check that out. This is very near the Coronado Hotel, the other must see on the island in my opinion. Top the visit off with old movies where you can rest a minute and the whole family liked it!
I learned a lot from the “The League of Wives: Vietnams POW Allies & Advocates” exhibit. Very moving. My understanding is that this exhibit will run till March 2020.
Interesting display about naval wives and role is speaking for POW/MIA in Vietnam
This place made me appreciate our veterans a whole lot more. Dont let the ones who caught for our country, and were lost in battle be foregotten.
Impressive story about the efforts of the spouses of Vietnam POWs to bring their husbands home. Additionally, it tells the story of one sailor who fell overboard, was imprisoned, returned with the first group of POWs, and remembered the names of 500 remaining prisoners.
I enjoyed the movie history displayed at this museum. The staff was very helpful with info about Coronado. Stop there on your first visit. Its not a big museum. Youll spend 1/2 hour at most but highly suggested for a first visit or if youve never been there.
Dropped our kids off for the night at the museum and they had a blast. Will definitely do it again!
Friendly staff. We picked up a map then spent 30 minutes viewing the POW/MIA Exhibit
Learned alot. Staff was friendly and informative

Small but well done museum. The docent at the info desk was super sweet and helpful.
Cool place, friendly people
Nice small museum of the islands history and its prominent family that you can walk through in 10-15 minutes. Located in a historic building. No charge and a donation box.We visited after eating in the bistro next door walking around the downtown area
Cute museum.Perfect way to kill 15 minutes of time.
Good review of tent city origin. Cool laundry wagon.
The lecture was interesting and the volunteers made us feel very welcome.
A nice place to take the kids in the morning. We had a great day planned and started it with the museum at first it was “boring” but by the end of the tour they wouldn’t shut up about random history facts. Good place to take the family and lots to do outside and many places to eat loved it.
Need at least half a day to go through all the sections

Very nice staff, excellent exhibits
Nice customer service

Good
Very small museum and no art. Just a little local history. If it was advertised as its local history museum and not an art museum, that would make a lot more sense.
