Great location for a dog friendly beach. Close to Coronado Hotel and the Naval Base. Bonus is watching fighter jets and helicopters flying around. Ample parking street side. We went on a Wednesday 1 hr before sunset during Thanksgiving Break.

I love this beach: you can bring your puppies, there are bathrooms (it gets really busy in summertime). Everyone is friendly. The beach is absolutely beautiful and with ample room for everyone.Its close by HotelDel and across a beautiful park and blocks away from Orange Ave.Parking is limited but free. My kids love it. Its always a great time when were here :)

It was my first time and it was fun. It was like a doggy heaven/haven for dogs. There were different types of dogs and the beach water was crisp not to mention the view was amazing. I recommend stopping by with your pooch for a nice family time.

Beautiful views of the ocean and the sand is soft and nice. A short distance from the Del which is a historic and amazing site to see in and of itself. Dogs are allowed off-leash and the area seems clean. Some noise occasionally with helicopters or planes landing at the Navy base.

What a great dog beach! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THE RUBBER WALKWAY. There is so much to do here, besides watch the great dogs! You can hunt for sand dollars, watch planes, watch dolphins and birds feed. There is a place for dogs to drink and humans and dogs to rinse off as you leave.

The best dog beach in San Diego! Lots of beach, restrooms, playground for the kids AND a water station with hose to rinse your pup. Best time to go is during the week as parking is limited to just the street.

Such a beautiful beach. You have the views of south mission beach with the mountain side view. Very open beach so you can always find somewhere to sit. Road beside the beach is always parking. Had a great time here.

Best dog beach in San Diego and my favorite for my older pup. Theres a matted walkway right up close to beach which makes it the best option for older dogs, hauling stuff for a beach day, or anyone or pup with mobility issues. Crowded on weekends but very chill during the week or on big game days.Some delivery services will deliver to the end of the road near the walkway as wellThe public bathroom is a bit far away from the dog area, so plan accordingly.

Always such a great time. Parking was ample available on the strip and tucked away in the neighborhood. Trash cans and bathroom open for public use. Walking along the water is nice and was as clean as a beach can be, there was a lot of construction going on in along the strip by the Del. but it did not put us on a wild detour by any means.

Nice long beach for dogs to spread out, with enough shallow areas that dogs can run through the water with getting in too deep. There are good areas for people to sit on the sand. Dogs that go to this beach tend to be friendly and playful. Weve not had any problems with aggressive dog (or owners). Nice place for Lab to play. The surf can be a bit rough at high tide, so smaller dogs might need to be watched closely during these times. Parking can be difficult during busy times. Overall great place for dogs and people.

This is one of my favorite beaches. The water is warm, has decent waves, and the sand sparkles. Parking is difficult so be prepared. A long walk on the sand to shore but it has a covered walkway which helps a lot. Lifeguards at the ready. Showers and bathrooms. A short walk will take you past the hotel Del. Just a beautiful place!

One of the best dog parks around. So much room to run with good separation from the main beach area. Nice walkway to the beach and a hose for washing off the pups after play time.

Best beach in SD for long coastline with imaginative cliffs in the foreground... the added thrill of navy choppers and massive flying thingys. They seem to make you leave after sunset so be prepared. Great place for bringing visitors to show off the city skyline from Coronado bridge

Awesome dog beach! Tons of room to roam. Lots of friendly, happy dogs. Nice boardwalk from the street to the beach. A hose and water fountain available afterward to rinse off and hydrate.

Beautiful beach. Clean, soft sand. Pretty easy to find free parking nearby on weekdays. Love driving there across the Coronado Bridge. Also very cool to watch planes fly by. Cant wait to visit again

Easy to park & walk directly onto the sand. Large enough to not feel in the way when crowded with friendly pets & people. It was the perfect environment for my tiny but older dogs first experience. I love how well treated pets are in SD, great visit.

We had such a great time with our pup. Most of the owners were very hands on with their dogs so it wasnt just a free for all like at some places. Try to get there around 12 because it gets extremely busy on the weekend. Theres a hose to wash sand off the dogs at the beginning of the beach walk. Great overall experience.

I had never been here, only drove by in the past. The beach is beautiful and huge. We were there at sunset. The setting could not have been more beautiful. I also greatly appreciated the large, clean and very easy accessible restrooms right after you walk down the ramp. Beautiful views of the ocean, Hotel Del, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Its part of the Runyon canyon park. It allows dogs without leash from the gate. Good place for pets.

Three stars as I dont look too big beaches with lot many people around. Had read excellent reviews about this beach and hence landed there. Spent more than an hour there.My kid had gala of a time playing with sand. But San Diego has better beach options like la Jolla cove, beach and kids pool.

Fantastic location, wide beach with warm water. Tiger and I come here on purpose. It was here that my beloved four-footed friend met the beauty of Coco with snow-white fur. Their love has been going on for a year now and we come to this dating place in any weather))))

Beach was clean, other dog parents were responsible and outstanding. My first time ever at the dog beach. It was fantastic. Parking kind of sucked but it was free so I really cant complain. My dog had the best time. Theres also an area to wash off your dog so you dont have sand in your car.

Lots of beach! Sand is soft. Clean. You can walk for miles. You can get drinks, food and ice cream! Cant wait to go back and stay a while!

Really clean off leash dog beach. All the dogs have been super friendly, and havent had any issues with my energetic pup interacting with others. Theres a puplic water fountain + wash station at the entrance that is very convenient to hose off afterwards as well.

This is a great place because I have a dog that needs to cover a lot of space miles if you just keep the ocean in front of you and your dog on your right youre safe.. all fenced off for at least a quarter mile on some of the most beautiful beach in San Diego.. parking to be tricky on the weekends..

A new favorite for my family and I. This is a beautiful beach not overly packed and was so beautiful. Did have stingray warnings but thats something no one can control. Amazing beach and got to see some airplanes up close because its next to a military base.

You cant go wrong spending a day at Coronado Beach. This particular trip we went, the beach was slightly busy, but it wasnt hard to find parking, and we didnt have to walk too far to the north area of the beach. There are bathrooms and a rinse area with showers and foot sprays. There are also lifeguards patrolling. Great experience!

Clean Beach, nice for evening walks. Street parking they only option and can be difficult to find depending on when you plan to arrive. Easier several blocks away from the beach. Some sections of the beach have many people so bring your masks just to be safe. Kids love they place.

Beautiful place to stop and relax or go by the dog park. I had a wonderful experience here at the beach. The views of the Coronado islands and ships out in the water were magnificent. The beach, bathrooms and showers are so clean you would think you were some where else. The water felt healing and clean as well with tiny specs of gold in it!! Really all through the water is tiny flakes of gold it was amazing to see and recommend if your ever by here to stop and check it out.

The beach is great....clean, not crowded and we walked down to the dog beach for free intertainment. Parking is on street, but we always found someone leaving right when we arrived and didnt have a problem finding a spot. You just need to know how to parallel park. Lol! It is quite a hike through the sand to the beach, but worth it!

Our boat is docked nearby. We love this beach and the Village of Coronado. If you are seeking the perfect beach, this is close. The year round weather is like Hawaii as well.

Such a beautiful place and view. The sand was absolutely soft and white. The waves at this location was not too bad. We were able to find tons of sea shells washed up on shore after the waves would come in, it such a cool experience to see the live creatures in the shell dig itself into the sand. When we went here we brought food to eat and enjoy the view. Unfortunately without seeing any signs or not being a local from the area (as we lived in a different state) my sisters husband decided to feed one of the birds. Lol, funny story is as soon as we left our stuff and went towards the water the birds came (not too many, never over 4 birds). One of them was able to get a good chunk of bread and meat from one of our sandwiches, then my sisters husband went to hide the food in his backpack. The birds came back looking for more and spilled our bubble tea. After a while, they flew away. But Do Not feed the birds. Haha, such a crazy fun experience. That was our bad on our behalf.

A dog friendly beach where you can let your dog play unleashed

Parked on the street, but can be hard to find parking. It is a long walk in the sand to get to the water. Plenty of dogs and humans enjoying dog park. Taking a walk towards the South will get you to the beach side of Hostel Del Coronado.

Nice. Clean. Full of pups, dogs rule at this beach and thats the way it is. Never had any kind of in incident and people are always nice. As far as parking goes come early or late afternoon.

Clocking in at a crispy 5/5 Clutch Factor Points this beach is a gem for doggo dominance as your furry buddy(s) can run around, catch waves or be lazy and lounge. You can and most likely will get the ol random dog sniffing out your bags and possibly demand you give treats, almost to the point of extortion, which would be my dog. But really youre at a dog beach so you just let it happen and give in to the dog mob extorting said treats. The only caviat is the cut throat parking situation on crowded days, if you have a big car/truck may the odds be ever in your favor.

The Beach had gold flecks in the sand. The water was perfect the day we went. The shower wait was short and the walk to the water was on smooth terrain. There was one pick up and drop off temporary parking that was very useful in getting our little ones and supplies packed up. Because of the smooth terrain, the water reached further up on shore as it got later. All of our towels and items in the sand had gotten wet. A family nearby used a small shovel to build a moat around their seating. It worked for only a little while. But it gave them enough time to gather their belongings before they could get wet. We werent so lucky. LOL!Beautiful and very fun!!

Great dog beach with plenty of space for the dogs to play! I also love that they have a station where you can rinse your dog off before heading home, and that they have dog waste stations at the entrance. I’m not sure why this google listing says that it’s closed on Wednesdays, but it is in fact open as of August 2020 :)

Coronado Beach is a relaxing and beautiful beach. Take a walk at sunset or rent a firepit and toast marshmallows in front of the Hotel del Coronado.

My favorite beach in the San Diego area! Its always clean and the lifeguards are nice. The water is wonderful, the beach is big and the community is nice. Parking can be tough on nice days, but Ive never had to walk too far. This beach is 100% my top pick for a beach day, hands down.

I’m from the country so maybe it’s just me but I felt over crowded and the parking is a pain. It would be nice if they could give dogs a little more land. Also don’t know how I feel about the dogs just running free. How do we go from the dogs not being allowed on the main beach to not having to wear a leash over here? One extreme to another.

Love watching the dogs going silly here. Nice beach full of sand dollars. Sit relax and chill or go for a walk. Thirsty and hungry you got restaurants, bars and shop at the hotel Del right by the beach. Definitely a must visit for tourist attraction. In case you didnt know the sandy mounds on the beach spells Coronado

Its a nice strip of beach , just head past the dunes and youre there!! I like going there with the kids, its not as crowded as some of our other beaches. Only downside is you cant see the sunset, point loma is in your way ️

Very beautiful beach, gorgeous homes all around. Parking is first come, first serve, and only on sides of the streets. I gave it 4 stars for the parking. Drove around the area 25 minutes just to find someone pulling out and swoop in while passers by honked horns.

Nice beach to spend the day at. Spacious and completely made up of sand. No grassy area. If you dont like sand, best find another beach.

Fantastic beach! Great views. The beach is kept relatively clean. Great place to take the family, surf, swim, or just get some sun. Lifeguards on duty till around 7 pm +/- or sundown. I came to do some metal detecting and enjoyed myself. So much to do here, and as I mentioned, the beach is very well maintained. Also, Coronado has a lot of fun things to do for all ages. This was my first time here but it definitely wont be my last.

The beach goes on and on and is quite clean. A beautiful setting with warm August water and friendly beach goers. I dropped the rating a star for the bathrooms. By the end of the day, there was wet toilet paper all over the floor and they smelled of urine. Theyre probably cleaner earlier in the day. The beach itself is wonderful though.

Very clean space, has water, has baggies, dogs are aloud to be off leash, and enough space to tucker themselves out. Pretty much everything youd need...just dont forget towels!!!and I guess parking is kinda tough on the weekends so keep it in mind

Great spot to bring your furry friend! Family oriented, the beach is a little more low key as compared to OB or PB. Makes you feel like youre on a vacation even if youre local.

Coronado Beach is one of our favorite beaches in the world. Its just beautiful and the fact that theres a section for my dogs to run around and socialize is just a bonus. Totally great place and I highly recommend it

This is by far the best dog beach I’ve visited before. Love how clean and well maintained it is (but considering it’s coronado no one would accept anything less). Such a good vibe and my dog always has a variety of other fur babbies to play with. Completed with a self rinse station, it’s all around my favorite place to spend time with my dog. Highly recommend 11/10.

Excellent beach. Plenty of street parking. Low flying jets and helicopters provide intermittent entertainment. Sea shells and sand dollars can be found on the regular. People were social distancing nicely. Use the ocean for your personal waste needs, as restrooms are not nearby.Bring your own shade and sunscreen. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Nice place . My dog loved playing ball there, but being right next to the Navy Air base it sure was noisy with the constant stream of the Jets over head.

Beach was pretty clean and good amount of space for families withs pets. No showers to rinse or anything unfortunately. They have a hose attached to a water fountain that people use to rinse off.

Maybe it was the time of day, but I think I can honestly say this was one of the most beautiful beaches Ive been to. The view was amazing and there werent too many people there. The border to get in is surrounded by big rocks you can climb over (theres also climb free entrances along the border) adding to the atmosphere.

Love the wheelchair access all tbe way to tbe beach... Always appreciate things like that.

For the majority of people, everyone was making an effort to social distance themselves from others and it was wonderful to enjoy the beach while most other areas were closed. Coronado island is always lovely and the warm and golden sand was very relaxing and enjoyable

All my granddaughter wanted for her sixteenth birthday was to go to the beach. It was nice to get out and enjoy the ocean. Everyone stayed within their group. And most people had on masks.
