The Saco River Covered Bridge had been well maintained and it looks like they’re currently improving the support beams. Only one vehicle can pass through at a time, so make sure to snap your pictures quickly. This would be a difficult area to live or commute if I had to pass over this bridge every day.

Beautifully restored and preserved two-span covered bridge with wooden arches and trusses. Easily accessible from downtown Conway and offers great views of the river and surrounding area. Nearby beach and fishing spots also offer great views of the bridge from the water. The nearby Route 16 haunched plate girder bridge can be seen from the covered bridge during daylight hours, and great views of the covered bridge can be had from the Route 16 Bridge. These things being said, the police really need to step up speed enforcement at this location. The number of people blatantly violating the 15 MPH speed limit is too many to count, and some people even go so fast that the bridge literally shakes as they drive across!

It was great to experience my first covered bridge. Not only can one walk across, but drive across this bridge! A walk from the parking lot to the river allows for nice photos, or even photos from the bridge. Plus not too far away is a short walk to the Swift River covered bridge.

It was beautiful! We had no idea that this was where the swift and saco rivers met.

Charming 1 lane bridge. Everyone takes turns crossing it.

The covered bridge was in great shape and right in town. Had a stream flowing under it, which added to its beauty.

Covered Bridge # 48, we visited this one a couple Octobers ago right after a heavy downpour that raised that water level and kept us wet and cold during the day. Still well worth the time to visit and snap our pictures and memories. Would love to trout fish this area. Oh, well, we had to push on. Maybe next time.

Visited Saco River Covered Bridge and it turn out to be a pretty decent one. Well maintained and very photogenic. We were not disappointed and recommend if you enjoy taking pictures and walking around covered bridges.

My wife always wanted to see a covered bridge. So, this year, I made it a plan to come up to see one. We live in Texas and this was one of the major three things she wanted to see in New England. Awesome bridge, beautiful scenery!

Great historical wooden bridge in Conway, NH. See the following: Historical Remarks:In 1850, Jacob Berry and Peter Paddleford built a covered bridge to replace a crudely framed log bridge that had collapsed at this site. The 1850 bridge stood until the Swift River covered bridge crashed into it in 1869. The Saco River covered bridge was rebuilt by Allen and Warren of Conway but it was destroyed again by a tannery fire in 1890. The current bridge was built by Charles Broughton and his son Frank.

Well cared for bridge over the Saco river. One lane traffic, so it can cause backups if its busy, beware if youre in a hurry.
