Blackburn is a historical park located in the East Side district off of E. Main St. in Columbus, OH. Its a well-rounded park for both adults and children, with a basketball court and rec center. They even have a summer season water park open to the public for small children and parents looking to cool off. With its position in the community, Blackburn Park offers after school programs and a fully equiped gym, as well as a boxing training facility(Which has produced plenty of champions in Golden Gloves and beyond). And the rec center also has a summer camp program for parents wanting to keep their children active and healthy for the summer. As of this year, 2020, Im unsure of their current state as a rec center, but Im certain in a few short months, theyll reopen Blackburn for the public to enjoy once again.
Its a vey small community park. Great time while maintaining social distancing.
It humbles u to b in the park while traffic and life pass by...
Very small for a park, but has a decent basketball court, and tennis court
I was looking for somewhere to take the kids to cool off. Since I had all five of my kids, I knew the swimming pools were out! I tried taking them all swimming last year; it was just too much. Anyway, Blackburn has a great water park for small children. My kids were able to cool off and have fun. The water park is supervised and attended by Columbus Parks & Recreation. I highly recommend this park.
Grew up there family been going there for generations, kid and adult friendly also pet friendly. Staff there is very nice still, new gym floors and all. Perfect hours and all.
This park is a nice clean place to take your children to have a wonderful experience. And there is also a park leader. Watching over kids name Israel and he is nice friendly and helpful and deserves a raise!
Mr Anderson is a great Teacher at blackburn and makes the park more pleasant
Great way to cool down on a hot day
I will always love Blackburn. I grew up there when they had diving boards at the pool.
Beautiful area. Nice place to stroll through the French quarters of downtown.
This park is one of my old time favorites. I really love this park, there are walk trails, plenty birds to watch, picnic area and I promise, you will love this park.
Easy access. Good for the kids. Nice mural
Very good and well kept splash park.
Ive never been harassed for change by so many drunkards. How are people supposed to bring their children here? I saw someone smoking actual crack cocaine. I didnt even know that was still a thing.
Its fun for the kids on a hot day, buy they have people watching who arent consistent about the rules. Ive gone before and me and the kids play tag, this last time I went the supervisor kept telling my 2 and 3 year old they could not run, not even trot the way babies do. They didnt understand because they were changing the rules, it was never an issue before. The guard made me sit them down cuz they were playing the same way they always did. Its not very fun when your running behind your kids telling them not to run every 2 seconds, they already had the habit from being there before and no one said anything. People with kids understand what I mean. I understand its a safety issue but they werent sprinting, I would never let them sprint and hurt each other. Common sense needs to be used in these matters, they jog from one spray to the next, just to have fun, little kids dont even realize their little feet just move fast. It was overly enforced, or not enforced at all. Then they leave the door open to a storage area, right to the left there is a 30 foot drop, no sings, a kid could easily go in and fall to their death, I asked them to close it, they said they couldnt, the next time I asked and they closed it but just cracked it open. So kids can go in and fall to their death, but kids cant jog? I left and if it happens again with the people supervising I wont be going back unfortunately.
Some days its nice to be there other times theres people there drinking and being loud and unruly
A GREAT place for the community.
A great neighborhood park with an awesome basketball arena, weight lifting and exercise, playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, sports leagues, Scouts and more. The center is also a voting station for Olde Towne East and the Near East Area. Wonderful asset for our neighborhood with great community outreach.
