Lots of room to explore the Salmon River. Walk or drive ( 4WD suggested ) through Golf road. Plenty of room to stop and fish or hike. The parking area offers lots of room to distance and there is a huge field for kids ( or dogs ) to run free.Walk across the street and visit the covered bridge.

Good hiking spot along the river which climbs high above with some great views. A picturesque covered bridge is at the trail entrance. There are several spots that one can stop and hangout by the river. The day we went there were a lot of people hiking, so it can get a little crowded.

Many great oppurtunitys for some great outdoor photography also!!! Plenty of room to getaway from all the heasdaches going on in the world right now

It was a great place to picnic and enjoy a family gathering celebrating a childs birthday. There was plenty of room for social distancing. We enjoyed watching the water as it wandered down the river.

One of my favorite places to go, clean, quiet, tranquil, and peaceful. I go there to primarily fish but you could also hike/walk many of the forest trails, swim or relax in the stream or take a break away from every day society and do some outdoor camping under a starlit sky next to a good campfire. I highly recommend!

A piece of the Air Line Trail carries you through the Salmon River State Forest, a haven for hiking, fly fishing and mountain biking, or just enjoying a picnic in nature. The Salmon River is as placid as you can get today, but in the 19th century the banks were teeming with mills. At North Westchester there were so many factories competing for waterpower that the grist mills had to run at night and the paper mill by day.The Blue-Blazed Salmon River Trail snakes through the park, and takes you over an important piece of heritage, which we’ll cover next.

Nice place to go relax and fish. Only gave it 3 stars because people dont pick up garbage. They just leave it everywhere. IF YOU BRING IT IN TAKE IT OUT WHEN YOU GO.

Very remote access to the river for fishermen, etc., via a PASSABLE dirt road. STEEP DESCENT to the river, with some trails, at easier spots

This river is beautiful in the spring and fall but in the summer its not a good place because the big city residents come and ruin the peace and quiet with their loud music , pot smoking, and vulgar language police should patrol more instead of forest service patrolling. Its sad to see trash and cigarette butts floating down stream..

This by far is my favorite place to go to since we have lived in Conneticut. The river is beautiful and not too deep (at least were I take my kiddos) I have 2 toddler boys that love to take their trucks and buckets and play down by the river. We visit this park at the very least once a week ( we live about 35 mins away) Highly recommend this park if you have kiddos, fish or you are looking for a swim spot for your furry friend!

There are so many cool little hidden spots around Salmon River. Its fun and exciting to find these spots too. Its kind of like a scavenger hunt or something. Hiking through the woods alongside the river can be so relaxing too. We love to bring our dog too. You can also go swimming in a few different spots so pack your bathing suit.

This river is so beautiful! I would definately go again and again. The hiking trails are challenging but fun. Most of the river you can access by road with tons of pull offs to park and walk around. There a gorgeous bridge thats perfect for wedding photos in my opinion. I love this place. You should definately go.

A deceptively challenging trail system, with lots of old stone foundations slowly losing the battle against nature. Lots of picturesque views of the Salmon River, and it links up with the Air Line Trail as well as the Day Pond State Park. If you do the North Loop, theres an old car that looks like the one from Army of Darkness and that leads to a cool little side trail with a waterfall that was part of an Eagle Scout project. Not really heavily trafficked, with lots of parking at the Comstock Covered Bridge and Day Pond.

I attempted to canoe the Salmon River, Route 66 bridge to Route 16. Beware, the river is clogged with down trees, making it almost impassable at this time 4/1/18 (seriously, no fooling). We were not able to make it to our destination before darkness fell. The river needs some serious effort... Chainsaws, ropes, human ingenuity...to get it back in shape. The forest however, 5 stars!

Very good outdoor place to hang out at they have the river which is great for swimming fishing and just said put to hang out there are several parts of the river that you can do this but this one happens to be one of the best it is right on the edge of East Hampton Inn Colchester line you can rent out the area for parties and events if you want or you can just go down and hang out in the field and have fun sometimes I hit golf balls down there myself or as a kid I used to play baseball there sometimes too because they have the big giant field which is great for many activities well actually they have two giant fields and they got grills when you can cook food if you want to and Pickett able to sit down which is also great and to make things a little bit better too theres a spot where you can get clean water when you first pull in which is free to the public so if you need water for your home or whatever youre doing and you do not want to use up the water at your own house or do not have it you can go to your and get it for free just bring your own bottles.
