One local body of water that does accept visitors is the picture perfect Day Pond, in 180 acres of public land. The pond is named after the pioneering Day family, which impounded the pond to drive an up-and-down sawmill with a waterwheel.Stone foundations hark back to that time, while the pond is stocked with trout which makes it a favored destination for anglers. There’s a neat little beach area for swimming in the summer months and overlooking the water close by is a picnic pavilion, with more tables nearby on the east and west shores.By the water you can step onto the Blue-Blazed Salmon River, which will lead you to the Comstock Covered Bridge on its south loop.

Hiking there is fun. The beach off season is wonderful to let the dogs run and play.

The wife and I spent the day fishing here, the fishing was great. She caught and released seven beautiful trout, I got two and a really cool looking golden shiner. The park was clean and the people and dogs were friendly. Had a great time.

Quaint, peaceful, and usually pretty empty of visitors. My husband and I take our kids swimming at the small beach with a sectioned off shallow area (it goes up to my 8 year old twins chests). The kids enjoy splashing in the water, digging in the sand, and catching frogs. And we enjoy sitting on the sand in the shade of the beautiful trees that surround the pond. There is also hiking, but we havent ventured onto the trails yet. This is one of our all time favorite hidden gems.

Excellent hike on 3 mile blue loop trail though trail markings need to be improved at critical spots as it is easy to get lost. Waterfall was beautiful.

My dad and I come to go fishing every year. We don’t always catch something good enough to keep but there are some lucky days! Even if we don’t catch anything it is a really good experience and there are a lot of nice people there!

This is a great, moderate hike. By moderate I mean dont attempt to bring your stroller if you have young children. There are a couple different sections to the trails surrounding DPSP. The first is the loop and the second is the point2point to Comstock Covered Bridge (Salmon River Trail). Combining the two will equal about 7-8 miles (although Ill admit I wasnt tracking my mileage too closely). The south end of the loop and the Salmon River trail are very clearly marked and fairly well maintained. Once again, just because its fairly well maintained doesnt mean you can take a stroller; you cant. The issue I had was the north section of the loop. Once past the waterfall spur, the trail becomes very confusing in a few spots (if traveling N/NE). A few times I walked off the trail because the sun was right in my eyes and other times because it wasnt clearly marked. My advice? Just pay close attention. If you dont see a marked trail, stop, look, locate a blue paint mark before continuing.Overall this was a fun hike and I plan on snowshoeing this later this winter

There is a nice area for parties, the lake is dirty, the water is black and there are alot of water lilies on the lake, not very nice to be swimming in. The trail is ok, there isnt much to see. In general, its a good place to go with the family to either fish or to have a nice picnic.

Nice park with fresh water swimming and scenic brook. Plenty of mosquitos, repellent needed. Trails dont match the trail map, it can be confusing to follow the blazes. There is the reminants of a bridge at the far end which left a large cliff at the end with little to stop children from getting too close.

This is a great park to go to one thing I would caution is there are a lot of mosquitoes if you go when it’s humid and it’s good for fishing till is long as it’s fishing season if it’s not fishing season you won’t catch anything but if they freshly stocked the pond then you’re good to go just get there early in the morning

Came here on the 4th of July and there was barely anyone here. Its great for the kods but i personally didnt like the water. I mean it is a Pond so dont expect to be able to see into the water. If you want clearer water go to a lake. They do have a decent beach area and benches to sit at.

Found this quiet little park because of some friends that frequent it. I take the kids to swim in the pond and have a picnic lunch.Great little spot, but could benefit from more frequent visits from the park rangers. People know carry out what you bring in yet they leave messes for other people to clean up and if you address the issue they get offensive.
