I go there often. Mainly to look around. You can find a lot of stuff if youre patient and make time. I found a unique Hoya. I normally go for the plants. My husband likes collecting basketball cards. Some things are pricey. Bring cash! You gotta pay to enter. They only accept cash.

Really interesting place for buying antiques for cheap and kill some time. Vendors are very friendly. But you might need to haggle a bit because they intend to ask for a much higher price than what it’s worth. Highly recommend for a visit.

This was a decent place. I was torn between a 3 or 4 stars but gave it a 3 as the restrooms were smelly and had some interesting characters hanging around it. Nice mix of foods here. If you want to try something different stop by here. The beers at the brew pub tasted great and went down well. If I was a tourist Id stop by here!

I came here, i think the weather had alot to do with the fact there was not alot of tiny shops available, however we did find a few good items such as a cute tiny coat for our pet Mace, and cute shoes so he can go out for a walk in style, I also found water proof gloves for my daughters, mind you I went to barns and fleet and spend 60.00$ on 2 pairs.. fully regret that, in this out door flea market you will find, brand name coats, hats, gloves, toys new and used, sweaters, pants, baseball hats, sports wear (original and knock off), they also sell makeup, soap, detergent, deodorant, toiletries basically, you will also find plants, they have several food stands the food is very good, they flea market and I said is out doors they close the street in order to host the event and its only on sunday. I recommend going to this flea markets during the summer at this time it is late November and in my opinion it is worth going but not as many shops. they close at 2 pm.

This is one of my favorite markets. If youre looking for vintage or antique items, Id go somewhere else. But if youre in more of a flea market/yard sale vibe, this is the place for you. And there is plenty of fresh food. Rubis Tacos are made fresh, including the tortillas on site.

Go for the Mexican food vendors. Handmade tortillas and traditional prepared meats & sauces. Fantastic. Not a farmers market although you will find a few produce selections lots of dried peppers things of that sort. Otherwise kind of a flea market feel.

My first time here, I did not know what to expect, parked about a block away and walked over. The market is a few blocks long and they offer plenty of new things and some used. They also have a few restaurants and a couple of the restaurants were crowded, I talked to a couple of people and they said they came here only for the food so I have to stop by for the food next time.On this day they had a band playing on one end and a DJ on another. It was a pleasant visit.

This place is definitely worth the long wait on Sunday afternoons. We should have gone right when they opened but didnt go till about 1pm and waited an hour and half to order. The downside was when we finally got to the front, they only had carne asada left and I really wanted an al pastor taco. The tacos are huge and sold individually. We took ours to go because it was extremely hot outside. The sauces that they give with the tacos were very spicy and amazing.

This is a pale imitation of what it was even 15 years ago. The number of vendors has steadily gone down. But what it still is, is a outdoor market where you can get fabulous street food. As Chicago doesnt have a good food Truck scene, this is the closest. Try the Oaxacan Tamales. There are some newer places that are offering Brazilian etc, but I have not tried those as they are not Vegetarian friendly. Also the best place to get socks, Gillette razors and pen and pencils etc.

A ghost of what it use to be. I remember coming to the Maxwell street market when it was actually located on Maxwell street. Than it was relocated to Canal and now finally to Des Plaines. Most of the vendors that I knew have left and are now selling at the flea market at Rosemont.

I used to love this flea market, when I was a child I remember this to be huge with lots of vendors and lots of things. The last time I was there it was so depressing to see that all that its gone. Vendors look sad. There is not a whole lot of them and neither clientele. The city of Chicago have taken away all the convenient parking and we had to pay $7 for 1 1/2 hr for parking. They just dont care about all the people they are screwing with this because it is getting very expensive to go visit a place that doesnt even have a whole wide variety of products. The city should at least attempt to either discounted parking rates or no charge, but I doubt either one is happening. So sad to see what this market has turned into we will keep going to buy from our favorite hard working vendors.

Ok, Im gonna start pointing out the fact that Im Mexican; food its my favorite part of that. The good around here is just delicious, the closest to authentic Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, Im taking out couple of stars due some abuse in prices, and no taste or just fake food; there is always bad apples in the basket, and because of that in chopping out the stars. The new layout is better and convenient for security reasons, if we keep and learn the experience in other cities about terrorist attacks and emergency responds. The cleaning its even more efficient. Hope we can see this in summer time.I hate the counterfeit products, Im against that and I think we are becoming just like New York streets you know what Im saying..? Anyway, back to the point;Lets keep it real, in terms of quality food; who ever the person approves those permits, be more hard on them, not just anyone saying that they are cookers.. ask for licenses and proof of experience; an undercook chicken can kill you.I get it, I come from the largest street food market in this part of the hemisphere, which is Mexico City; no quality control, no clean water or cleanest conditions along the process, but they do have common sense and taste.Maxwell street in food terms is compared with taste of Chicago, so lets keep it that way. Id like to see in the future Maxwell Street going international in terms of food, more inclusive. My two cents.
