A terrific gym, spotlessly clean with a wonderful staff. My only complaint is that, depending on the staff person at the time, the music is either deafeningly bad and loud, or reasonable and unobtrusive. Since virtually everyone is playing their own music through buds, I have to wonder why they have overhead speakers at all!

Really solid gym..I havent been to any other gyms besides this one, but from what Ive seen of others this seems like a step above the rest. Clean, which is great, and the staff are really friendly. There are also a ton of different machines and weights to use so that good.

Excellent facility and and variety of machines. Good prices. Very clean. I took off a star because in the last year or so many of the TVs connected to the treadmills and other cardio machines do not work and they have done a poor job of repair when notified.

I went to school at DePaul. Just like the university itself the Ray will try to squeeze its members for everything it can. Want to replace your membership card? $15. Want to cancel your membership? $35 charge not including the cancellation fee. You would think after the school charges $50,000 a year they would take pitty on recent alumni. Think again. This gym is for current students and the wealthy elite of Lincoln Park. They will squeeze the life out of everything in-between. Vincentian values my butt. Glad to stop supporting this greedy machine.

In essence, it is one of the best gyms in Chicago (if not the best).

Review №14

This is DePaul Universitys gym and a few locals from the Lincoln Park area. The gym itself is very nice and all the equipment is newer and well kept. The large issue is if you go from 10am till 3pm or 6pm till 9pm you probably wont be able to get the weights or machine youd like to use, being their limited lifting area. There are a lot of cardiovascular machines which is nice and they have a full sized basketball court and track, both which have a beautiful view. The staff is typically friendly but being college students for the most part they sometimes have an attitude and or slack off with their friends.

I do love the gym, love the classes , the track in the 4th floor , the cardio area , I live in the area and its very convenient for me, my husband is a student so I get a nice discount , BUT I DO HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE OTHER REVIEWS ABOUT THE STAFF AT THE FRONT DESK some of them are very rude, they are playing at the desk , they dont even pay attention to you when you come in (one time the girl scanning the tags , scan my tag didnt say hi to me and when I went trough the turnstile she yelled at me asking me to scan my barcode when I had just done it she was not paying attention) , I know they are students but GOOD customer service should be encourage. other than that LOVE IT! DO IT SIGN UP IT IS WORTH IT !!!

Not a good choice for community not affiliated or attending the school. The wifi is staff/students only, they are inflexible on the multi-visit passes and you can just do so much better, so very close to here. Great for students though. And they have racquetball courts (only reason I ever went here)

An up-to-date facility with four floors that offers different ways to exercise. Theres a place to get drinks or food on the first floor. The downside is the price. If youre a non-student, expect to pay an exorbitant amount for memberships. There is also limited street parking.

Hours: 5:30am-11:30pm Monday-Thursday, 5:30-10pm Friday, 7:00am-10pm Sat/SunFacility: 9/10, Hours: 7/10The Ray Meyer Fitness Center is pretty awesome. I moved to Chicago a few weeks ago and was quick to start going. My ONLY complaint is the hours, they close at 11:30pm on weekdays and 10pm on weekends! I like to occasionally lift at night and was shocked to be told it closed at 10pm. So many gyms are 24/7 I expected that the Ray would be one of them.

This place has everything. A track with an amazing view, a large pool, an ample locker room, racquetball courts, basketball courts and enough equipment, machines and freeweights to keep a lot of people busy for a long time. The whole setup looks new, clean, bright and sleek.I agree that the cafe is a waste, but since I dont go there to eat or drink, I didnt dock the Ray a star because of it. I went here as a student, so I cant comment on price (although the fee was an inseparable part of the tuition bill), but I would say its worth it!

This gym is such a waste. If youre a student its worth it go there learn to workout and form a good habit of going to the gym. If you are just going to shoot hoops or run on the track thwn enjoy, but the courts are reserved more than 80 percent of the time. If youre not a student and you actually care about your health, your fitness, and staying injury free avoid this place! They constantly buy new equipment that is going to cause injuries. They buy multiples of the same equipment no one ever uses and wont purchase machines that could actually be useful and help people avoid injury.I was a member there for 9 years before I got tired of the staff who seems to get increasingly more rude every year, the promises made to buy a specific machine and being lied too, and my membership rates raising without my knoweldge.

Very clean and fairly new equipment. There are 4 squat racks and an Olympic lifting platform as well as a whole wall of dumbells, a sea of cardio machines and plenty of machines to keep you occupied. That along with the 4 basketball courts, the pool, and the indoor track male for a great gym! The showers are high pressure and hot which is a nice touch after a hard workout.

As a DePaul Alum, I am a bit biased in this review... but I LOVE this gym. It has pretty much everything i need in terms of equipment and space. The third floor has 4 full BB courts along with a full track. The lobby has 3 raquetball courts which you can check out equipment.Cost is also much more reasonable compared to others (xsport, equinox, etc...)

Plenty of cardio equipment and space for all kinds of exercise, including a pool, basketball court, track and two studios for classes. The only downside is that the weights offerings are limited -- only four power racks and one Olympic platform, so if youre a serious powerlifter your needs wont be met here.
