Great venue for the performing arts. We were there for the performance of the Christmas Story, a perennial favorite. Great experience.A year later, we were back for the 40th annual run of the Christmas Story. As before, a great performance and a great experience. The place was decorated for the holidays and ready to lend holiday spirit for any to enjoy. Great staff, wonderful amenities at this not for profit facility. Enjoyable.

I have been to the Goodman many times before, but this time I got to experience more of what Goodman has to offer play lovers. I saw How to Catch Creation. A beautfully written & wonderfully acted new play that was thankfully in the main theatre. I have season tickets which are very affordable but they are set for Sunday evenings. Calling member services and getting my tickets exchanged for an earlier time the same day was seamless. I wanted to witness the play but also talk with others and the production team afterwards. The experience of staying afterwards, sharing feelings, thoughts and impressions totally enriched my experience as well as talking with one of the Producers that answered questions and spoke on the dynamics of presenting a new play. I was enthralled and my enthusiasm to see the rest of the season with the talks was fueled. Beautiful space, friendly & accommodating staff, brilliant productions, actors and set designs. Just a lovely and wonderful experience! Support Goodman! :)

Goodman Theatre, Chicago’s oldest and largest not-for-profit theater, has won international renown for the quality of productions, the depth and diversity of artistic leadership, and the excellence of its many community and educational programs. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Robert Falls and Executive Director Roche Schulfer, the Goodman is committed to producing both classic and contemporary works, giving full voice to a wide range of artists and visions. Central to that mission is the Goodman Artistic Collective, a diverse group of outstanding theater artists whose distinctive visions have given the Goodman an artistic identity of uncommon richness and variety

Great time here. Went to see A Christmas Carol. Very impressed with the performance. Theatre overall was in pretty good condition. Clean restrooms and very courteous staff ready to assist and point you in the right direction. Also great experience for older kids (Age 7 and up). Parking not too expensive as long as you pre-purchase it in advance. Look up your show on the Goodman theater website and get the parking in line with the timing of your show. Highly recommend.

The Owen theater with the Goodwin is a fantastic venue. I dont think any seat is more than 50 feet from the stage with the front be basically at the stage. The main floor seats are not permanent chairs; just stackable chairs that are placed in position. They dont recline but they are comfortable enough for a couple hours. Overall the theatre and lobby was very clean. It is a delightfully well maintained theatre. You will be pleased.

We were in box seats on the third floor on the east side of the theater so whole play took place in a bar scene the bar scene was on the east side of the theater we could not see the bar from where we were sitting only when the actors ran out into the middle of the floor could we see them the hearing was excellent but could not see the play those are the worst seats in the world if the main action is going to take part on the east side of the theater you cannot see that from the box seats on the third floor so I think the play was probably very very good because Ive had other friends that Ive seen it and really enjoyed it I didnt enjoy it because of the seats that we win when we complained about it we were given a chance to move to any seats that were available but if anybody came in and said those were their sheets we had to move and of course we didnt want to do that and it was three of us so this was not a good experience this particular time but I have been there countless of times countless of plays and I have never never had an experience like this so I will tell anybody thats thinking about going please go to any of the play that I had to Goodman Theater if you get the box seats you must inquire about how the stage is being set up so you will be able to see well thats about it enjoy yourself

Lovely, cozy theater! I watched the Christmas Carol here with my family this winter and found the small theater cozy and intimate. I sat to the right of the stage. When buying tickets, I recommend either a couple rows back or even balcony since it’s so small, those are the most “bang for your buck” seats without compromising view. Also, beware of sitting in front row since smog/smoke machines are used that trickle into the first couple rows.
