One of my talented actress friends who is big into the chicago arts/acting recommended coming here for an improve act You & Me. Opening act was a talented local musical ensemble “Eugene” followed by one of the most hilarious unscripted comedy routine I have ever had the pleasure of attending. Great space, great people great small venu!

We visited during the Forts event. What a great activity for kids. Basically they are allowed to creatively build structures out of boxes, sheets and draw on the boxes with crayons. Great way to encourage imagination!

This place is great, we just had 3 generations of fun building massive forts! We (2 grandparents, 2 parents) took a 5 year old to Filaments Fort Night as a birthday treat. The event lasted nearly an hour where we followed several other families back stage and were met with a mountain of cardboard boxes. The event starts with a frenzy as each group secures a strategic location and builds a fortress with a variety of boxes, sheets and clothes pins. The kids dont tussle over the boxes because there is more than enough to go around, and the staff stresses kindness and sharing before the event begins. Once each fort is built, the staff supplies crayons for decorating and then flashlights. It was great to see all the kids give each other tours and show off their designs. The event ends in a dance party and the forts are dismantled back in to their original piles. The event by itself is great, but the staff at the Filament are what make the theater special. Christian specifically is a rock star. I cannot wait to see what other kid friendly events they put on.

New and interactive fun for kids. Great place to use your imagination and create a new world out of card board boxes. Why spend so much money on the toy when what they end up playing with is the box it came in?!

Filament Theatre had Two Pence Theatres production of A Midsummers Nights Dream - and it was great. The intimate space, good set design, and actor skill all contributed to a good Chicago theatre experience. Talking with the very cordial managing director and artistic director (who was also the Weaver, Duke, and Oberon) I got a sense of the value they had for theatre. Bathrooms were not exactly the most tidy, but still perfectly good. Keep it up! Props to Helena and Tytania!

Filament is a true asset to the neighborhood. They put on creative kid-friendly plays, have an after school cardboard fort building program, and offer a cool summer theater camp for kids (my son loved it and cannot wait to go back). Maybe its a coincidence but every performance Ive been to made some connection to the community and deepens my appreciation for the 6 Corners area. For example, in 2016 I attended a mystery play that required the audience to explore the neighborhood with the actors looking for clues. Most of the action occurred outside the theater itself. The audience broke into teams and shared clues via Instagram. It was so much fun! I totally recommend watching this place for upcoming events.

I attended a performance of Pinocchio. I have not been to the Filament Theatre before. It was a great experience and incredibly kid friendly! The show was so creative and clever. I would recommend this particular show to families and am looking forward to visiting the Filament Theatre in the future!
