This venue is pretty neat looking. Its got clowns and a circus theme to it and the lights are awesome. Its just the DJ that we chose to see wasnt that great so we didnt have the best time. As for the place overall I think the location is pretty eye pleasing, but you dont really have to dress up. I saw many people in athletic shoes and casual clothes. The womens bathroom is pretty cool too.

The venue has great drinks and a lively crowd. Bartenders are nice and its open late which is great. The DJs they bring on play classics and some underground stuff so youll have a great time regardless of what type of electronic music you like.

Drinks were over priced. Our group was brought to the club by a promoter with the promise of a bottle of champagne for our group of 4. We went, our bottle of champagne arrived, and we poured it. Unbeknownst to our group, we were supposed to share the champagne with 4 other girls. Honest mistake, not really a big deal. More was coming. This trashy chick comes up and gets in my friends face and grabs our other friend by her neck and pushes her to the ground from her seat. Then, it’s her friends against our friends: they were squaring up to us (we were seated) and being confrontational. Security escorted us out even though they started it.

Had a terrible night the only thing that was helpful was the security guards coat check girl has serious issues and called me the N WORD when I didn’t want to pay double for a coat if it was 5 dollars for everyone else I don’t see why I had to pay 10. This is a really unethical place and if you are Latino or Black I would stay as far away as I could. They love the culture but don’t want us at there club.

Security guard grabbed my neck after I kindly asked him to please stop harassing my drunk cousin. All the security at this place are reckless and entitled—will attack innocent customers because they have a power complex. Electric hotel is the only club that has this problem and it’s an embarrassment.

Zero stars to this place. Friends in town from Canada paid $400 for 1 bottle of Effen Vodka. After I paid I was escorted to the door and was told I couldnt return. I am filing a police report and will never return. I hope to take the place to court on many charges. I was then told that this club discriminates and rips people off. It should be closed!!

If I could give this place negative stars I WOULD. Was out with my girls doing our own thing just enjoying our night but kept getting harassed by men to go to their table. We kept telling them no but proceeded to come up to each one of us several times to force us to their table full of men. They kept coming up to us trying to touch on us inappropriately and we kept telling them to leave us alone. They wouldn’t get the hint of what “no” meant and finally we defended our selves and we ended up being the ones getting kicked out bc we didn’t want to go to a table of men and dance with them. We tried explaining to security how they were harassing us all night but they didn’t want to even hear our side of story just kicked us out. Glad this place lets men harass women!!!!! Will never go to this place again!!! Not a safe place for woman so be careful ladies.

Like a festival performance in a 20s parlour! 5-star DJS and live video and lights in a fresh crowd ! People hating on this place are the same people that will try to request Drake songs from an international DJ or have never bought shots at clubs. Come to have fun and you will love this place!

They kicked me and my friends out after we got bottles service saying that I threw up although I didn’t. I was the only one in the bathroom and the attendant couldn’t even look at me cause she knew they were on bs.

Went there on a Thursday. The place was empty. As in maybe 10 people of which we were half. My friend took a minute to think about what he wanted and the bar tender walked away. On top of that I left my bag there. Called 3 times their lost and found and left messages. Nothing. Sent emails. Nothing. Bc of its location and hours its not like I can pop in. Hope youre enjoying my messenger bag full or work notes and gym clothes.

This place is horrible, I had just off from work at 2 am. I just want to have a drink. The doorman and security guards treated me so bad . I stood there trying to get in , they let everyone else in but me. I was profile on how I looked. Remind you I had got off of work. They would not let me in because I had 2 bags. This club is in the same location as Shay and what they have done to it is great. Please note, this is an upscale swanky club so it can be difficult to get in as a guy. Expect to pay $20 cover and be friendly with the bouncers. They typically let girls in for free if they are dressed right. The place is always packed, has a great ambiance and music. Drinks are on the pricier end for Chicago but it is all premium liquor. Great place to party until 4 am.

If you want to be exploited and have a horrible night out, then this is your place. The venue was beyond empty on a Saturday night (1am). Guys had to pay a $20 cover (which is normal, but place was so empty) , there was a mandatory coat check-in despite having a jacket as part of your outfit, and if you wanted a water it was $6 -- unreal. Youre better off going to a different bar or staying home.The only plus side was no cover for females, although from previous posts below why youd wanna come here with such a lackluster performance from the management team - thats beyond me. Place was a buzzkill.

Awful! Dont bother with this place. There are so many better bars within just a few blocks. I came here with four girlfriends for a girls night out. Two bouncers were managing a short line out front. Our bouncer was really rude and hit on us when we got to the front of the line. He looked like he came straight out of Jersey Shore (dark hair gelled up, didnt get his name unfortunately) and acted like a creep. He said hed let us in sooner if he got my friends number. She declined. We waited another 10 minutes before we got in, but it wasnt crowded at all inside. Way to power trip, loser. Inside, drinks were okay but nothing special. A bit overpriced but thats River North. Our experience with the bouncer killed the fun so we left after one drink. If you want to have fun with friends and not deal with sketchy power hungry bouncers, go somewhere else. We ended up going to The Basement which was a wonderful time.

Celebrated my 25th bday here and had such an amazing time. This was my first time partying at this club. I had a section, had no issue getting all my friends in. The host was very polite and the bottle servers really topped off the night. Me and my friends are already planning to come back very soon. I feel like everyone did their jobs well. Great atmosphere, music and drinks. Thanks for making my day special!

Went to the basement to use the bathroom and tried to push open the door titled “Restroom”. Bouncer points to the next door that says “Women”. I come out and sit on the couch outside the bathrooms and watch the bouncer take money from men so that they can gain access into the “restroom” to have sex. Also- can’t sit down anywhere in the bar unless you pay money.

First time in Chicago nightclubs, entering the venue security was rude because I was taking a picture of my fiancé and her 2 friends, as soon we walk in we checked our coats I gave the girl $20 dollars and I had to ask for my change because she asumms I was giving her whatever was left, finally inside we went to the first bar girl on the left I ask for a cocktail and a ice water and I was very clear the nightclub was not busy at all get the bartender gave me the cocktail I paid and I waited for my water, a few minuets later I had to ask her for the water again she gave me attitude, she over por ice all the way to the top with not much room for water and I know she did it on purpose. Very childish if you ask me. I give this place a 2 stars because the gentleman in the bathroom was very nice, attentive and great customer service.

If you are looking for a fun club to spend a Friday or Saturday night, this is not the place. The bar has overpriced drinks, horrible music and the bathroom stinks. There are numerous other bars and clubs in the area that are much better, just go around the corner. Additionally, the bouncers are extremely rude and will question the legitimacy of your ID if it’s not from Illinois.

I was in town visiting and was referred here by a friend. My friends and I got in no problem, and the doormen were great and very kind. The staff at Shay could not have been more accommodating. The bartenders were on top of their game, and I never had to wait for more than three minutes before being served. The bartenders were also very fun and the staff looked like they were having a great time as well. I definitely recommend stopping here if you are looking for a good time and good drinks!

The Music & Sound are the best to be found on a Wednesday in Chicago. The customers are pathetic in a funny way, mix of rich ass kids, sugar daddys and Upscale Gold Diggers. If youre just looking to dance, this place is great. Just make sure to dress Swanky :-)

Just went here last night to see about all these complaints. Im happy to say that I didnt have any trouble at the door, got right in. Door guys were definitely not rude. Once inside the building, it was packed! I couldnt believe how much fun this was compared to the reviews I had seen. My friend was paying for drinks so Im not sure of the price, but Im sure its an upscale place with prices that follow. The music was awesome! People were dancing and everyone was having a good time. I even made a lot of new friends!! Will go back for sure!

Me and some friends checked this place out last weekend. Great place to get a table and enjoy some great champange. The atmosphere is awesome, great music, and the hosts are very attentive. Definitely coming back!

Tried to double charge me for lying to the bouncer for whatever reason

I had been guest listed for one of the nights they had a special guest performance. My friends and I were very nicely dressed and showed up to Shay. The security outside wouldnt even let us give them our IDs even when we told them we were on the list. We then tried calling management and no one answered. After we left a voicemail with our contact information, we never received a call back or even an email. They genuinely dont care about the people who come to their club and I wouldnt give a dime to them the next time I travel to Chicago. There are much nicer clubs that deserve your business.

I watched the bouncer let in three white women after checking their ID, but when I walked up I was told there was now a $20 cover charge and the tickets Id reserved previously were only to gauge interest. Dont waste your time.

My friends birthdays were a week away and I was 21. Tje bouncer asked for ALL our IDs and took. them away! So absolutely rude. Please id you are a hot/fun girl don’t go here! Bouncers will grope you and make you feel uncomfortabl!! Everywhere in chicago is better!!

This place is awful. I had a guy forcefully grab me and security did absolutely nothing. Not a safe place for women.

Two different times we went, the security guards go out of their way to look for trouble. I yelled at two bonehead security guards and had to explain to them that their job as SECURITY is to SECURE the club, not try to start issues just because their bored. As well as made up amounts of cover to get in the club that they are pocketing on the side. We had 6 people and they asked for $100. So $16.67 per person to get in? Seems like a legit number. If you are an owner reading this, you need to be more involved directly with your business. Just because people flood into the club now does not mean they will continue to when treated like garbage by your employees. I watched a guy in the way of a bottle girl move out of her way after realizing she had been standing behind him for a few seconds unable to get through. This guy moved to the side and let her pass with no issue. 10 seconds later 2 security guards approached him and said You cant put your hands on our bottle girls. You grabbed her by the hair and then they dragged him and kicked him out of the club. Your whole staff needs to get their stuff together. Will not be returning here to spend my money again.

Terrible venue. Dj was atrocious. They add tip to your Bill without asking. 3 dollar tip added for every 10 dollars spent. Ridiculous. And they pour less than a shot for mixed drinks (mixed drink was 15 dollars) and they charge 20 dollar cover charge for a venue that is dirty and doesnt even make decent drinks. Will definitely not be going back or recommending. Would give it a zero if I could.

If you leave your leather jacket for a moment on a VIP table someone steals it right away. You better hold it with you or coat check.

Nothing says upscale or swanky like waiting in line with over the top red carpets in a back alleyway next to a dog park and almost getting hit by cars that speed through not realizing or getting swiped by a car coming out of the garage of the residential building that shares this major alleyway which Im sure is pi**ing them off!! This cant be legit with CPD or Alderman...but the tying of dead a** trees to the neighboring dog park fence is a nice and believable touch LOL! Still smell dog pee and dog poop while waiting in line, cant imagine what the sizzling summer temps will do with that!!! It is a joke....it was when it was Shay and it certainly is as Electric Hotel ... The bouncers are rude as ever and not to mention the over sexification of their female bartenders, its 2018 not 1998, stop being cliché, its no better than Hooters, which is a few hundred feet away if youre hungry. Usually when a company changes a name its more about rebranding from an unfortunate business decision or poor management and trying to gain more capital or better reviews. Im surprised they even opened back up, most places dont once you see the brown paper on doors and windows. I dont believe for a second the story of the new name lol!! But a hotel it is ...a place thatll put you to sleep.

The girl bartenders over charge. If you bring your wife like me, they really will make you wait. The Asian blonde bartender told me one price then took her own tip. After I caught her on it she changed the price and ranted for security to notice. Also heavy on the security.

Great crowd if you like fun and outgoing people who arent full of themselves. The music is really diverse and, although the dance floor could be bigger, has acozy feeling. Bartenders can be really absent-minded and not tenative to customers but the bottle service was legitimate. Definitely a good place to stop in, especially when in Chicago.
