A good show, good beer and drinks. The music is great for dancing, free expression and respect for all genders and individual sexual conditions. The attention from those who work there is great.

I hated living in Chicago. Absolutely hated it! The horrible weather, the midwestern transplants, the red camera lights, the flat terrain, the terrible crime, bad schools...hated it! I likely feel this way because Im actually from Chicago and didnt move there from Indiana. However, the best thing about the city is Berlin. It was my favorite bar! I loved it! I went at least twice a week in the early 2000s. I met a cool guy there in 2004. We had a blast. Fast forward and were happily married. Berlin will always have a special place in my heart.

Friday Jan 11 2020 the most boring and horrible experience Ive had in a club in my entire life. Not one person in the bar knew one song. Horrible music, nobody could dance. Was sad and empty. Most miserable bar Ive been to. Hope Chicago has better to offer. Drinks also over priced. Sad to see so many people leaving simply due to music. Sad I took my boyfriend here. Wish I could have shown him a real bar.

Fun LGBT nightclub, diverse crowd, great throwback dance music, and affordable great drinks! If you like to dance and be carefree, then come here. Been a regular for 4 years now keep coming back because it’s so fun! Certain nights are theme nights which can be quite fun and entertaining. Thanks Berlin for so many fun, awesome, and steady dancing nights!

I came here for my 21st birthday and they made it amazing! They took care of my party and were AMAZING. This should definitely be a place to come to.

I’ve been to drag matinee a few times and it’s always such a great show. There is a lot of room to stand by the stage and it doesn’t get too crowded if you get there early. The bartenders are great here too. The only thing is I wish they had more bathrooms.

Huge space for dancing but the DJ set on Saturday nights is boring. The drinks are fairly priced but there is a $10 cover charge, cash only. It wasn’t worth the $10 because the music really was outdated, you could barely sing along with it, and it just had boring/outdated trance beats.

A gay bar like no other in the boystown area. Most of the boystown bars have a sexy vibe to them but this place is all about art and creativity. This place serves an artistic hip look and other boystown bars are just gays who focus on looking hot. If you have an artistic side then you will fit in here and have a great time. I came here last weekend and loved the atmosphere a lot!

I don’t usually do reviews but my experience forced me to do that. The bartender in the left by the exit is a extremely rude and racist. I was asked to leave just because I asked him for an extra Lime for my drink. I wasn’t drunk and I have visited Berlin for over 8 years and I never felt discriminate by a bartender just because I am Latino. Serious situation here and very disappointed.

Super fun shows throughout the week, cool atmosphere, decent prices draft beers. Hot spot in Lakeview.

Still a good night club. But has definitely lost its hole in the wall, gay bar vibe. On the flip side, its a great location and nice upgrades. Hipster? Yes. But still laid back. I only get to Chicago two or three times a year to visit family, so Im biased and have watched the transition. But it didnt disappoint the day before Christmas Eve for a good drag show.

Honestly I went for the first time tonight and was entertained until the haters pop as usual which is normal- Thursday/Friday night. Guess what!! I wish there was a zero star for customer service. Its clearly you gotta be Rachet not just gay or trans to enjoy it.. Im not even hating but whoever the Asian security or whatever she/he is needs some lessons on customer service/relations not just the hater security that called her/him! The rest of the story God will judge but I hope we all get what we deserve at the end!!! Yall should know youre only surviving cos of the people so treat them with respect not just right!!!

Good shows but the place is poorly ventilated. Also,it gets very crowded but has not enough bathrooms for that many people.

Suggested by a friend for a themed night they had and had a terrible experience there, the staffed couldnt care less. There are several other clubs nearby that are worth the walk!

Whats not to love about this small club? Great music, safe and welcoming atmosphere, drag shows on Saturdays, and $3 Berlin bombs.Ive never been in a friendlier crowd than at Berlin. This is our go to bar because we know we will always have a good time (and theres usually no cover or only a $5 cover).Make sure you take your turn dancing on the raised platforms.

I would of given this place 5* (maybe 10!) stars a few years ago but the management and owners got way too greedy and have a ridiculous $10+ cover charge on weekends, even when there is a tiny crowd on a rainy night. Even many free cover week nights even got greedy too begging for $. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays used to be huge dance parties but now when you go there are like under 5 customers. Its kinda sad. Disgrace what Berlin has become because of their greed. Their drink prices even went up. BTW, why do they even have Madonna night anymore, no one under 40 even listens to her anymore or even know who she is which explains their declining turnout month to month. In a year or two, this place will probably shut down because people dont like wasting their money at the ridiculous cover charges, forcing them to spend less drinks and tip smaller.

Fabulous and friendly. Definitely go for Prince and Wax Trax nights. You can also find really solid drag performances where the crowd is respectful and appreciative. I recommend leaving by 2am to avoid the nonsense that happens at 4am bars, but then perhaps I am getting old.

One of the best bars in Chicago. Music is not basic pop to weird underground have your shazam ready, liquor is really affordable but will get you loose in no time, it will be become a home right away! You might just meet a celeb or two there as well go now what are you waiting for !

Went to Berlin with my friend since she likes it a lot.They usually charge $5 cover.Place is nice and ambience is good.DJ console is located at some elevation.DJ kept on playing same kind of music. He did not entertain any song requests.Drinks are costly here, they take cash only which is a downside.

Best dance club I have ever been to. I live in LA and have travelled Europe. Seriously. This place is fun. Friendly people. Gay, lesbian, straight. Everybody is at this club having a good time. Great DJs. Great vibe. I never go anywhere else in Chicago!

Love this place! I usually go by myself cause Im hella lame lol but I always have a good time, cause people are just so fun! Make new friends and dance like no one is watching. Bartenders and security are super friendly. Expect a great night out without breaking your wallet-bone.

Came here for New Years, arrived before 10 PM, the door guy closed the door on us 8 minutes before they started charging a cover. Clearly just to be able to charge our entire party a cover upon entry. Literally made us stand in the cold for almost 10 minutes for just that. When I asked to see a manager because that was unbelievably rude, he told me he was the only manager that I would get to talk to!We stayed, only because we were meeting a huge group of people. But all of us were upset about this treatment and have decided not to go back due to it. I went to their website to contact someone regarding this, but there is not a message/email/contact option. Poor management and rude employees.

I miss this place

They generally have great events and cool atmosphere but recently I had a negative experience and likely will not return. Upon entering the establishment the door man came off rather rude the way he rushed people in costumes for said event to get out our ids and cash for the cover. One in our party didn’t have cash on him and we were quickly told in a scolding voice that it was up to security if we could take 3 steps over to the atm or not. He then signaled the security guy over and he said that we had to go outside and use the other atm. 3 early customers to an empty bar before anyone else was even there and that’s how you treat us? If you don’t need our business we don’t need you either. Thanks for nothing especially not responding to my private fb message first (I gave you 4 days).

Really good nightclub in Chicago. If your in to Techno this is a place that you must go to. The public is very mixed and drinks are not very expensive. I would recommend going here

I love berlin yes it is a gay bar but I would say its an open lifestyle bar you can love anyone and be any subculture and just come to dance and drink. I come here with my bf or sister always fun.

Totally gay bar not friendly to straight people I did it u-turn turn quickly some pretty big bears in that place and Im not talking about the football team if youre a straight man avoids this place you are not welcome they should put a little sign on the window straight people are not welcome from the outside it looks cool the inside is quality dance floor just not my cup of tea sorry guys only saying the way I seen it I am a very open person I probably would have had one drink and left tipping the bartender 35% as my usual so sad bad dad but I will forgive and carry on and walk pass the joint I now realize the area is called Boystown I am A born and raised west coast Floridian used to tourists and diverse lifestyles to each his own I say, maybe it was just these two guys that had too much to drink and were threatened by a biker who knows and I really dont care party on BOYZ

My goto bar for lots of parties, dance themed evenings, burlesque, Drag Queens and more. Its a Queer Scene but welcomes everyone. The staff is very friendly and Ill dance till the sun comes up.

This is the worst place to have fun, very rude staff, the place is dirty, it is full of drug dealers and thiefs, just be careful going over there, i will never come back after last night i was insulted from a low class bartender, and believe me is not a place to go , awful experience

Berlin is a great after hours bar. Ive been a few times and just not sure I feel about the place; the crowd is just so eclectic and a mix of all the personalities that can be found in Boystown. Generally, I like it. . On Sundays, they have themed music for the night and when the dancing gets going, theres little that can stop it.

Only went once and its a great night club.

It is listed as huge night club, but frankly I have seen bigger. However, it seems big enough to host maybe 2-3 hundred people. The music is good although the DJ is playing music of the can, no live-dj-ing, he is just sitting in a box. What I enjoyed is that the club, even when very full, has very good air ventilation. The security people take their job serious and throw out drunkards and gropers in a firm but not brutal way. The crowd is a mix of queer and straight, and there is a lot of grinding on each other when dancing. Nothing to worry about, but not very fabulous either, unless you are into someone.The line at the entrance door was short, and whether thats a good sign is a matter of perspective.

Fun atmosphere, the stage is fun to dance on. I thought the 10 dollar cover was a bit steep, Id prefer they switched up their music choices from the time to time but its always a fun place.

Drinks are not so good. I ordered orange juice-vodka and it was too sweet and I dont think Ill order it again there. But anyway I like this club.Btw coat check opens at 11 only.

Great sound system and bartenders

By far my favorite dance club in Chicago! I love love love the diversity in this place. You can seriously be yourself in here and not feel judged, unlike the clubs in boystown where everyone is stuck up and feel they are better than you and also stuck in their little circle. Over at Berlin you talk and dance with random folks and have so much fun! I have to give a shoutout to my favorite DJ, DJ Greg Haus! For always playing my song requests and for making a Marina & the Diamonds night! ️

I was hassled at the door by security guard my purse was rifled through every time I exited or entered and when I questioned why he was going through my belongings and not checking other people he refunded my money and kicked me out the club is never been treated so callous in my life by anyone besides the Chicago Police

Went on a Sunday so take that in to consideration. They must have been having a theme night cause they played Robyn songs all night. Crowd was homogenous.

Really fun place with pretty cheap Absolut drinks and cool, unique music selection.

Paid for my three friends and I to get in, and less than 30 mins into our night we get accused of stealing someone’s drink. (Which we did not.) The bouncer kicked us out with no more than two words and wouldn’t even let us find our entire party before physically pushing us out! I live two blocks away and will not be back!
