Trying to ball on a budget? The Vic has movie showings during the week for $5. There’s plenty of seating room and a bar inside the building. The theater was built in 1912 and still holds a lot of its antique beauty. Cool spot.

Sadly, I was turned away from seeing a movie at this theater. After reading the reviews and attempting to call the front desk several times with no answer, my friend and I came to the consensus that the Brew and View allowed outside food into the theater. A couple of things led us to this idea with the first being that it says so on their Google Maps description and on their customer reviews (see below). Thus, we stopped by the always delicious Blaze pizza and grabbed a few pizzas before heading over to check in to our movie. Upon arrival, the man at the desk pointed to a crumpled up sign and told us that they no longer allowed outside food into the theater and that this policy had been changed 5 years ago. We looked at each other pondering what to do next when the front desk attendant offered to see if the manager would make an exception. We were grateful and hopeful that we would be permitted to enjoy our pizza during the near-empty 6:30 viewing of “Ready Player One.” We proceeded to watch the man engage in a 5 minute search for the manager where he walked up and down stairs, in and out of the building, and in and out of the theater looking for this mystery manager. After several minutes of this and many apologies, he informed us that we could eat our pizza outside of the theater doors, but not inside. We could have been finished with our pizza by the time this message was delivered. In summary, I was not impressed by this staff members customer service nor his problem solving abilities.

Great place, great price. The full bar is nice and right outside the seating area so you dont miss much when you want to run out and grab another drink. Only issue is sound quality but I dont think this place was designed with movies in mind.

Terrible terrible terrible. Can’t see the movie because screen is too dark. Sound is muffled. The seats are uncomfortable. Bathrooms are dirty.Don’t see any reason to go here. Wait another week and you can see the movie at home.

Cant beat the prices! Great for a night out with friends. I stayed for a doule feature and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I was able to quietly talk with the people I was with about the movies and you can get drinks from the bar. Great for a relaxed night out.

The View and Brew at the Vic is a cheap way to see movies if you’re not eager for the opening night. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and great for hanging out for an evening of double or triple features. They’ve got a nice selection of beers and a great range of movies; some contemporary some revivals (I caught Easy Rider here). Some nights it can get a bit crowded, so if you’re going with a group, try and get there a little bit early. There are some bench seats and tables, none of which I would describe as especially luxurious. Also, it gets pretty chatty, so if you are the kind of person who likes to watch a film in quiet, intense contemplation, this may not be the venue for you. They allow you to bring in outside food, with a huge menu book of nearby restaurants available if you ask!

Classic flicks at a great price. Can bring in own food or order from local establishments. Quality selection of brews. Themed nights with double and triple features makes for a great date spot or a relaxing place to chill at the end of the week.

Ah I love their $5 films. Especially since a big box theater can run you up to $14 a seat. Its an old theater, but the set up is vintage. Full bar and some decent eats. Okay, so theres only two or three movies to pick from at a time but the Brew & View is a must do experience in Wrigleyville.

So cheap to see a triple feature here along with very popular videos. Audio quality is pretty bad so go see an action flick here. I enjoy how cheap it is here though. Interesting place for a date if you know what youre getting into.

Great place to catch a movie that you might have missed in the main theatrical release. 5 bucks a person is a great price and the option to bring in outside food is great. I did find the bar a little lackluster but thats okay as it didnt really look like something that that had been heavily invested into. It was great to have the option there though. My wife loved the place and enjoyed watching the movie in a very different atmosphere than a standard theatre. Check out their website, facebook, or twitter to see whats coming up in their release schedule.

Ive never seen a movie in a concert hall, but it was cool to see the place transformed. When I was there they were out of a lot of drinks and food, but the staff brought you the food while you were watching the movie and you could watch multiple movies in one day when you pay just one price. Also, the movies were recently in the theaters so its a great price to pay for a great experience. Also, be sure to check out the groupon offers cause those can make your experience.

We checked online for a movie and got there as it was supposed to start and the movie before the one we were going to see was still playing. An hour and a half later the one we came to see finally started. I guess it was ok as we got to sit in on the last part of the other movie, but still annoying that we has to wait. So, just dont take the show times seriously.

I didnt realise this place was part of the old Vic .. duh! I came here for a couple of movies and I like the $5 entry fee the most haha. The theater is really lovely as well, and the best part is of course, that they add alcohol to your purchase. Not very expensive either, I got a hot chocolate with whiskey for $10. They dont take credit card for the movie tickets but they will for the alcohol, I think theres a minimum of 6-8$ purchase. I would come here again for sure!

Pros: 5$, pretty good choices for 2nd run films(most of the time), full bar(draft beer, tallboys, cocktails and wine..oh my), nice staff, and its pretty cool youre allowed to enter and exit the building in case you want to skip a movie, smoke a cigarette, or pay parking meter.cons: they no longer allow outside food but now sell a larger variety of snack food(treat it like bar food)on a side note:I came in for mad max and there were two bar tenders dressed up for the film, as well as two mad max themed drink of the week specials. while i can say that ive already seen the movie opening night in 3D @ imax. its the dedication these guys at brew and view show for their establishment, their patrons, as well as their films that really add to the fun atmosphere of the place. i hope this place gets more business because it has really won me over.

Projector broke down before the 3rd movie could start resulting in an early night. Fortunately I came early enough to see the first two features and heres what I have to say about that experience. Anyone expecting a typical theater arrangement is in for a surprise. The theater is set up more like a night club, with tables and chairs thrown around the room at random. The chairs arent the most comfortable and also seemed to be a bit in low supply but they do the job. It is nice having a table to sit around while you watch a movie with friends, especially since this place is known for serving beer and you can have food delivered. This actually provides for a very friendly party atmosphere. The theater itself has a very old style look to it, I almost wish the owners would make the balcony and box seats available durring the movie screenings instead of just the main floor. Not only would this free up more seats for patrons, but also show off the unique architecture of these old style theaters. Now onto the screenings. First the equipment they use seems a bit old and run down to say the least. The fact that the third screening of the night was cut short due to equipment failure is evidence enough, however even during the screenings there were noticeable problems. Instead of having the theaters speaker systems wired into the ceiling or around the sides, they are stacked in two columns on each side of the stage, this results in substandard audio quality and also has the unfortunate side effect of cropping off some of the projector from reaching the screen. The projector itself seemed to flicker a lot and the image would dim a bit during the screenings. Also while the lights were dimmed during the showing there still seemed to be a little too much ambiant light flooding the room. Understandably, this is a consequence of having the bar and concession stand in the theater itself instead of the lobby. In conclusion, this place offers a cheap way to spend a night out with friends watching movies. At $5 a ticket for 2-3 shows its hard to find a price to beat. However, you do in fact get what you pay for, so dont go in expecting an AMC quality show.
