South side gem! This historic art museum sells, and hosts events. Art can be purchased from here and they have an annual sale in case you are more economically conscious. This is a great place to visit in an historically African American neighborhood and building. Masequa, the museum president is such a wonderful person. I believe classes are also offered here. Stop by, and check out this amazing art space on the Southside of Chicago.

I went during Open House Chicago. This is a nice art gallery located in a former mansion in Chicagos Bronzeville neighborhood. The gallery is great for seeing African American artwork, which should be expected given the history of the neighborhood. When I went, they had a work that paid tribute to the Blues. Bronzeville has been called home by several famous blues musicians, including Nat King Cole and Muddy Waters.

I found about this gem of a culture center through a Google search. My parents and I stopped by on a rainy Thursday and were treated to a tour and endless background information by Natalie. Natalie was so fantastic I couldnt even try to describe her. She told you the stories of each piece and made you understand the history and talent that resides within the Center. She mentioned all of the additional activities that the Center hosts and made such an incredible impression. The Center is free, but youll leave wanting to make bountiful donations. An absolute must see for anyone interested in African-American art and Chicago history.

This Art Center was begun in the 1940s by President Roosevelt Work Progress Act or WPA. There were originally 100 centers. This is the only remaining center. It houses African American works of Art. I toured this art gallery on the Bronzeville Art District Trolley Tour.South Side Community Arts Center was another popular stop on the 2013 Jazz Club Tour Trolley sponsored by the Jazz Institute of Chicago. Jazz Drummer Taylor Moore is known as the Princess of Percussions was the performer for the Jazz Club Tour. Taylor Moore is a young 24 year Jazz artists who inspires the youth to fall in love with Jazz.
