I was impressed at the level of cleanliness here during the pandemic. I disliked the virtual lines for the Monet exhibit. I go to museums and exhibits to get away from the usage of my cellular device. I appreciate the old school procedures without the dependency of technology. Otherwise this wouldve been a 5 star visit.

It’s been too long since I visited the museum and I’m so pleased that I went back. All things COVID considered, I felt comfortable with the number of people they allowed inside and the distance between parties. I really loved the interactive aspect. They’ve included audio with some of their art pieces. You can download their app and learn insightful details behind certain art pieces. I can’t wait to go back!

My partner and I went from Houston, Texas to this museum 2 weeks ago and the experience was incredible. It’s such a beautiful and well maintained place. It took us approximately 5 hours to walk all around this huge building, walking at fast paced, so I would recommend you to go in the morning, start from the bottom floor and work your way up the 4 levels. Don’t forget to use the map to guide yourself through. You’ll find a lot of workers that are willing to help you on anything you need, as you walk around. Here are some pictures of a couple things that stood out to me the most. I hope you all enjoy your visit!

The Art Institute is a clear gem in the awesome world of Chicago museums. There are obviously some world class museums here, but if you want to see something that you may only ever see in places like Paris... then spend a day here. The staff were phenomenal, helpful, and very knowledgeable.Once they found out I was here from out of state with my daughter who is a college art student, and that we only had a few hours before our flight home... they were extremely accommodating as well.We were giddy just having the opportunity to enjoy a place that respects art from all throughout history and generations.5 stars for an awesome museum in the 4 star city of Chicago!

Dont miss the Monet and Chicago exhibit currently on display! Timed entry and spacious galleries made viewing very comfortable. Interesting background as to how so many fabulous works of art came into the AICs permanent collection, and Chicagos connection to this amazing artist. Beautiful layout and progression through the artists body of work over his lifetime, with video experiences and visual narratives enhancing enjoyment of this installment. Especially enjoyed the series groups of paintings (haystacks, Westminster Bridge, lily pond).

This was an experience I will never forget.. The artists were from so many parts of the world. I cant say enough about this place. But there is not place to eat or drink. The only thing you do is bring a water bottle and it has to be in a zip lock bag. This is a very important detail for people who get thirsty when they do alot of walking.

I love the art institute! The new artist from Mozambique is a great collection. I really like the colors and the illustrations. I would recommend for people to check it out when they visit. Def love the impressionist. My favorite paintings include the George’s Seurat ‘a Sunday afternoon’ and the Van Gogh’s yellow room is also classic. The modern wing is also worth checking out. And if you have an extra hour go check out the Chagall windows downstairs with the miniature rooms which are just splendid.

Monet and Chicago! What a beautiful exhibit. The Impressionist collection at the Art Institute is nothing less than fabulous on any day and the additional Monets made it superlative. I went on a gray wet, rainy day and entered heaven. The lighting was beautiful, the galleries were spacious and in this time of covid everybody social distanced and we were taken into the beautiful French countryside. Chicago had great benefactors and philanthropists that donated these early impressionist works that started the world famous collection of the Chicago Art Institute.

The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. This is a must-visit place if you are new to the city or if you have friends and/or families visiting from other states or countries. The external architecture is amazing and the building is not only a pride of Chicago but also one of the most recognizable landmarks of the city. The location is also close to numerous tourist attractions and embassies and consulates, not to mention the wide variety of restaurants, hotels, and shopping centers. The modern wing has also a beautiful design. I always bring my visiting families and friends to this place and they always enjoy it. However, I dont know the current setup with the ongoing pandemic, but I believe that the admin is doing its best in following and implementing the protocols and health guidelines for the safety of the staff and the tourists.

With museums back open, I recommend that you consider going to the Art Institute. It’s incredibly safe and sterile, and there were very few people at the museum, which made the art viewing experience unprecedented. In many cases, we were the only people in individual galleries. All of the work on display is fantastic, and I highly recommend that you take 15 or 20 minutes to go see the miniature exhibition from the 1930s, which has wonderful scale models of early American and European interior design and architecture. The collection of contemporary art is world class.

Im a little disappointed with my experience, and still trying to get warm. I renewed my membership and I purchased 2 tickets to the Andy Warhol exhibition. My friend from LA was visiting. We arrived at 5:45 for an evening viewing of the exhibition. Out of know where a bitter cold arrived with snow flurries. To say the least it was freezing, yet they would not let us in the foyer area to stay warm. There were approximately 30 people waiting in the frigid temps, as the staff ignored us until precisely 6pm. Its seems a little harsh to witness so many people freezing, when we all paid extra, and we had reservations to attend this event. These staffers already knew how many people were expected to attend. Otherwise the museum is beautiful, and the exhibit was well designed.

When I visited it was some years ago when they exhibited Magritte paintings. I was a bit surprised to find the Henry VIII artifacts, including his full body armor when young, along with the horse armor (he is known to have two other armor sets, one of which has only part of the helmet piece remaining) along with other amazing armor and weapons. The paintings were something of a surprise which I imply in a good way, as they seemed strangely modern despite being created over a century ago, and I uploaded some of them here. This is certainly a world class museum though I do feel as though they didnt utilize the space as well as they could, and I have enjoyed the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia which specializes in Roman artifacts more historical content, including Faberge and some of the best silver crafting (though the biggest silver object is probably one in the Dallas Art Museum.) I would return just to see some of the art pieces again (which certainly stand out.) My photography turned out a bit darker than I would have liked (I have since gotten a full-frame digital camera.)
