Wonderful trail to go explore, such beautiful scenic routes that lead through the woods and roads. If you love biking and hate hills, cars and traffic lights then you may want to give this route a shot. It does cross through some intersections but for the most part none of them are really that busy (also people are really good about yielding and do give you the right of way).

Im here on a Monday in July and there is a nice summer breeze. I rode from Cornwall towards Hamden. Nicely kept trail and not too many people but enough to feel safe. There is also a little side pathway to a little farm with chickens (sorry dont know the name). Very pleasant. I rode for about an hour there and back. Im sure I only saw a fraction of the trail.

New section of the Canal. 11.17.18The new section of Cheshire trail is great. We decide to visit today, after the first snow-day.The mile-long section goes  from West Main Street to Cornwall Avenue to the Main Street.Along with foliage and a paved walking path, the trail  include a two-stall bathroom facility, a 12-car parking lot, a bike repair station with tools, and a water fountain. There is also  benches and small picnic tables scattered around the area. The new section also include three butterfly gardens. One of the gardens is dedicated to Michaela Petit, who was killed in the 2007 home invasion. Several local nonprofits and businesses, predominately the Cheshire West Community Butterfly Gardens organization, have come together to adopt the space. Volunteers will help maintain it in future years.

I agree with Jim another reviewer. The trail itself is gorgeous. The bikes used for adrenaline rides should not be allowed on the path.I myself have been brushed by a couple and have seen many close calls. It makes what is suppose to be a calming, head clearing experience into an aggravating, dissapointment.

This place is nice to bike ride on. People walk on it as well. The trail is smooth and fairly flat. It is scenic, people are respectful. There are various parking lots along the trail that offer free parking. The area seems safe. While riding, my wife spotted a Great Blue Heron, which was pretty cool.

No bears to be found, but plenty of turtles lazing in the sun! Beauteous walking trail shared with cyclists and roller bladers... most whom are courteous and let you know when they are coming up behind you. Easy walk for those who cant handle a hike. Bring a water bottle

I ride my bicycle here all the time. Once they finish this trail it will start in New Haven, CT. to the Mass. line this year Im planning on doing this trail at stages so it is a bit easier for me. I think if I was younger I could do it in three to four days. Its a very nice trail even better in the fall.

This is a great multi-use trail. Nice wide path with some good tree cover. Watch out for bugs on a humid day though. There are some wetlands that are adjacent to the trail, so the bugs love that. If youre on a bike it isnt too bad. But walkers be ware.

Great place to take a walk or bike ride with your family. If you go to the park you must see restored Lock 12, located south of Brooksvale Road. Lock 12 provides the best glimpse into the past of the canal. Lock 12 park includes a museum, helicoidal bridge, 2.9-mile hiking/biking trail, a picnic area, and is ADA compliant.
