Hands down the coolest cemetery I have ever seen. Great photo ops. Also the biggest I have ever seen. Would be so creepy at night.

I came here to visit the gravesites of the H.L. Hunley crew. What a beautiful old cemetery, my friends tell me its morbid to visit here doing my travels to different cities. But in my opinion theres more history here among the dead then the living.

If you like cemeteries this is one of the best. It has so much history here. They have a large section of graves of all the soldiers who fought in the civil war. They have the graves for all three crews of the Hunley Submarine. Dates on the graves go all the way back to the 1700s. Theyre are quite a few big names buried here and if youre looking for someone in particular you can go to the office and have the lady there look them up. With all this and the beautiful scenery, this makes for such a fun afternoon trip.

This cemetery is absolutely gorgeous. I have gotten my husband and my best friend hooked on exploring here when we visit the Charleston area. The memorials are so unique here and there is so much history that this place has to offer. Wear bug spray, especially if youre on the sides near the water. The mosquitoes are horrible there.

Some people may think its morbid to visit cemeteries. But Magnolia Cemetery is a fascination of beauty and historical significance. It has such a quiet and peaceful feel to it. Every time I travel to Charleston, I always come back here just to see it again!

The most gorgeous cemetery Ive ever been to. Theres a lot of history here and the grounds are maintained very well. It always feels like youre driving into an alternate dimension when you get further into the cemetery. Areas are somewhat divided by time period, i.e. 1800s, 1900s, 2000s. The water, mausoleums, and nature watching you can do here is amazing. Whenever I have days off I try to come here somewhat often to relax and pay respects to those buried here.

Magnolia was a mission to visit given that I have many distant relatives on my mothers side interred there from the early history of this great state. Beautiful and somber....rest in piece my ancestors.

This place is a gem! We visited at the end of our trip and it was so fun to see bits of local history all over the place. The cemetery is quite large and beautiful. We found a section of Confederate soldiers that was very fascinating. We also found the burial site of the crew that went down with the Hunley submarine. After visiting several famous homes in Charleston, it was very interesting to see family plots of Middletons and Rhetts scattered theoughout. I would definitely recommend a visit to this place as part of a trip to Charleston.

This historical cemetery is one of the most awesome cemeteries Ive ever had the pleasure to visit. So many remarkable, historical heroes buried here, and I am happy to have found it.

Given the historical significance and value of this cemetery, it is so sad the condition it is in. The families have paid dearly for their loved ones last resting place, which usually includes perpetual care. The grass is way too long and weedy; the wrought iron is rusted and falling apart. Someone needs to take control and clean up this cemetery. You can not let this history be destroyed by time and heartless inattention. The roadway throughout is pitted with roots and appears to be no more than a dirt path. The headstones are in disrepair and are not maintained in any way. Please, someone in South Carolina needs to take care of this problem before it is gone.. You might take some advice from Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.
