We stumbled upon this hidden jewel while driving around Charlestons historical neighborhoods! It looked so inviting, we parked the car and spent two hours there just taking it all in! If you are looking for something fun to do while visiting Charleston that is free, I highly recommend a walk through this incredible park!

This is a must stop location to check out while visiting Charleston. Its so peaceful and beautiful to walk around and get some fresh. Get a little bit of exercise in while walking among history. The homes along the lake are breathtaking. I recommend around sunset for great views of the sky. Also a great area to rollerblade and bike ride.

Go here for my daily runs - probably one of the best places to go downtown. running outter laps are about half a mile. people love this area and its easy to see why. its a place to go if you just want to walk your dog, do yoga, fish, etc. one of my favorite places

After a lovely meal downtown, the wife and I came here and enjoyed the cool breeze... it was very nice to sit and relax. Peaceful and tranquil even.

I really like Colonial Lake and Moultrie Playground as together they are great spaces to get outside and enjoy some of the best parks in Charleston. Colonial Lake is a nice space to walk, run, or just sit down and enjoy the water and fresh air. The area around the lake is nicely maintained and manicured with trees, plants, and flowers and really allows you to get away from the city without going anywhere. I like that the area is very peaceful and allows you to clear your head on a busy and stressful day. A couple of laps around the lake really works well to make for a better day or wind down at the end of the day. I have always enjoyed the experience that Colonial Lake and Moultrie Playground provide.

The quintessential community park. Beautiful scenery (especially at sunrise and sunset!), amazingly well keep, and above all - active! There will always be a neighbor here ready for a chat on a park bench, folks running/walking for exercise with or without their dogs and babies, or people enjoying the lake with fishing, netting, or even sailing model boats! We moved where we did to be near this community hub and use it at least once a day!

One of, if not the most beautiful parks in Charleston. Would recommend visiting, a very relaxing place in the city.

My favorite place in town to get a little extra exercise. The renovated paths around the lake are great for a fast bicycle - you can do laps and laps and laps and avoid the pedestrians with ease since it is so wide and has several paths around the gardens.Rumor has it this used to be a shipping canal stretching all the way to the harbor. I think it was a wise move turning it into the beautiful park it is today.

Always went here with my Daddy as a kid. We went together on a recent visit to Charleston to see him before my daughter goes off to college. Still very serene at night, love the upgrades.

Great area forcrelaxing walk and just sitting and taking in the beauty of Charleston.

This is a beautiful park, very pleasant, lovely flowers. The lake is big and it is also a place to fish, exercise, walk your dog or just relax on the bench. There is a tennis court across the street and a basketball court for your pleasure. However, I did not see a bathroom or could not locate it. I do recommend this park and plan to visit again.

A beautiful lake located at what originally was the end of town. It has well-maintained fauna surrounding it with a group of people who strive to regularly maintain it. It is a good place in downtown Charleston to walk or run for exercise, however, it has become so pet friendly in recent years that it now has a distinct odor in some areas. Hopefully, a solution to this problem can be implemented soon.

I love colonial Lake. Since it was redone the area is so spacious the trees and the flowers That all around the Lake are beautiful and the benches are everywhere for you to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Its a great place to walk your dog, walk with a loved one, read your book, or just sit and stare at the water!The city did an excellent job on renovating the area. Check it out!

Nice little community park

A place to sit and relax and observe. Jogging, walking, plenty of room. Pet friendly. Open sky line for sunrises and sunsets. You can even do a little fishing. License required.

This is a beautiful, quiet, relaxing park with a gorgeous little lake. You can walk with your spouse/significant other or just walk your dog. There is a dog park across the street as well.

Major reconstruction in 2016 so the park is in terrific shape. Lots of shady benches with views of the lake. Good paved area for dog walking, running, or walking.

What a great ambience. The view of all the homes around it, people on their jog, taking a walk around, fishing off the lake, listening to their music, sun bathing... Its all there and its right in the middle of Charleston. A great place for some really good pictures too.

Great views and exercise. However, the vegetation has become overwhelming. I know the volunteers work hard to keep it up, but the view is disappearing to jungle like growth. Also, the smell of certain bushes is overpowering. Please cut and trim all bushes. Ill help.

It was my first time speed walking at the park and I absolutely enjoyed it! Clean and beautiful. It so so peaceful! will definitely do it again soon.

Its a Wonderful park. Looks like a man-made lake. Very nice for strolling around. Beautiful palmetto trees surrounding it. Good for exercising, walking your dog or just a leisurely stroll or sitting on one of the many benches surrounding the lake.

Lovely green space for a walk or a picnic. The lake takes up most of the area, with a paved pathway going around the whole lake. No lawn for sitting, but lots of benches and landscaped greenery.

I grew up near here and walked around here many times. my mother worked for Dr. Baker when that was a hospital. She did private nursing in one of the beautiful homes on the Rutledge Ave side. Love the improvements,
