Morehead Planetarium is good in both the Carolinas . My Kid liked this place. Carolina Skies is the best show.

Visited many times and always enjoyed the shows and exhibits. Being on the beautiful UNC campus and in downtown Chapel Hill are added benefits.

We are from Virginia, and had a chanve to attend a session of Science Live with my 7 year old daughter. The 1-hour program and the presenter delivered an amazing and extremely educational experience. You envy people living at the area.

My 8 yr old wants to be an Astrologist. We saw the We are stars showing and was fantastic. Cant wait to return.

My roommate asked me to come here for a show. I had never been here before and was looking forward to it. However upon arriving the parking was like zero made us have to park and walk (that was ok...) except once there again the space is weird where they hold events.

Carolina Skies show is seriously MIND BLOWING! Okay, Im not into constellations (Im never going to remember all that after one go), but the final 15 minutes will knock off your socks. Why? Well, youll travel through the universe and feel tinier than youve ever felt before.If you or someone with whom you plan to attend has difficulty standing for longer than 5-10minutes, then bring a support. You get in line and wait, wait, *the doors open* *people file out of the previous show*, wait, and then walk in. Its not bad, but for someone 90+, it was definitely excessive. Is that why they got 4/5 stars? No.The seats: they arent cozy. At the beginning of the show, the announcer will talk about how long the planetarium has been around. Gotta be honest: obvi. The chairs havent seen an upgrade in years. For as long as youre leaning back, it would be nice to have neck support, more of a recline, or some more cushioning.Ill tell you what, though, as soon as the last 15min hit, I forgot alll about the chair.The show is spectacular!If you need a sense of awe in your day and cant escape to the mountains, come visit the planetarium.

This place is really cool. Any event in here is impressive and a surreal experience! My friend I went for the Carolina Skies Valentine’s series, and it was awesome - well thought out and delivered! Also, this place is a really affordable option for a fun outing - our event was only $8/ticket. What a steal!!

A good way to spend a couple hours, especially for younger kids

I love planetariums, and they do a good job here. The staff is always pleasant, and the building and room are clean. However, most all of the shows are for children, and some of us dont have children, or our children are grown. I really wish there was more intellectually stimulating shows instead of shows with cartoon coyotes that say stuff like, space is really REALLY big and has more stars than cheerios that are in your cereal box.I was told that if we get 10 or more people, we could have a custom show. I worked hard on gathering people, and offered various dates and times. I got a response back that they would not deviate from their regular showing of childrens shows on a Sunday. This was so disappointing.Again, not everyone who wants to enjoy the planetarium is a child.

My wife and I loved the Carolina Skies show. Definitely a must for anyone interested in astronomy, especially children who will enjoy the interactive nature of the presentation. Theres not much else to do there, just a small exhibit on the history of astronauts training there and one room about water conservation with some neat interactive things for kids. It does appear that theyre raising funds to update and expand, though, so Im excited to see whats to come.

Excellent for kids and adults! Beautiful building and very friendly staff. Strong shop all priced to move. Carolina skies demands multiple trips. Feel like your like life is out of sorts? Watch sky at night and realize how tiny you are and how many other worlds other than Earth exist. Puts it in perspective every time. Easy parking at only a couple of bucks. I donate every time to this great institution. Fun off site events too.

Came here because I heard great things. There are 2 or 3 exhibits that are historical information. Only thing here is the show

The show was great in the observatory. We all really enjoyed it. We thought that there would be an exhibit about some aspect of space to help my 7 year old learn bf going to the show. But disappointed that there was nothing of the kind. In addition, the staff member leading the Q & A after the show did not seem to have any knowledge about space whatsoever, nor how to speak to the children making up 80% of the audience. But like I said the show was good.

Good place for the kids. Chaperoned a sixth grade field trip. Kids enjoyed the planetarium and classroom experience building a mars lander. However, I found the energy of the planetarium video and our hosts to be lacking. A great question was asked about what happens when two black holes merge? The response back was I am not sure but I think they merge into one. Correct but such a boring answer to an energetic, time & space continuum warping event.

We lobed it! The room was spacious and visiting on a Saturday morning over the Summer was not over crowded. The line to enter the theater seems a bit in the wrong area as there are shoppers in the gift shop and tourists on the way to the museum area; the like is in the way or doesnt have enough room to stand before the doors open for seating. Nice variety of goods in the gift shop, affordable. Informative displays in the museum area. The show is creative and not top long for a child but long enough to get your money a worth. My 5year old and I say The Magic Treehouse.

I took my 11 and 13 yr old to the Science Live show Physics. They were complaining they didnt want to go, but I forced them anyway. This is a free program. I can say that it was so fun and amazing, they both LOVED it and want to see more show! The presenting scientist was very nice and knowledgable in his area.

When looking for something fun to do with my nephew, the Morehead Planetarium is one of the first places I turn to, especially in the HOT NC summertime... because air conditioning is a good thing! He never tires of their shows, even if hes seen one we go to before. I have fond memories of going there on the school activity bus growing up and happy to share the planetarium with him now.

Took my family here on a Saturday and it was quite amazing. It was a little crowded but the kids had fun interacting with the other kids. They had a bunch of activities available for all of us. It felt good for my family to actually enjoy each others company and not their phones, or computer. Will probably get an annual membership. Would suggest to any science lover.

Great place, highly recommend for adult and kids. Middle school science club (monthly) was outstanding!

My family enjoyed the Carolina Skies show. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the gift shop has a small but nice variety of things.

Very satisfied with my experience. I went to see a show on black holes, and found it very interesting and enticing.

Great shows at the planetarium and cool science demonstrations. The center is smaller than we expected.

Five Stars. Small but nice planetarium.Although, Is it bad for a planetarium to only have five stars? Shouldnt a planetarium have 100 billion stars? =)

This is a great place for kids and adults alike to learn about the universe.

Took my girlfriend here she loved it! this is an amzing place, we had such an amzing experience, you gotta visit this place is worth every penny!

We saw the Carolina Skies show, which isnt a movie, but a live, narrated tour of the sky visible that night plus a tour of our galaxy and beyond. The theater was freezing cold, which felt nice at first, but bring a sweater

This place is for younger children, so if youre looking for a serious planetarium, pass on this one.

For the amount of money you pay the exhibit is not the greatest.

Fabulous experience

We were not totally wowed, but it was enjoyable.

Entertaining and educational quarterly constellation shows.

Everyone was kind, the new renovation makes all the exhibits fresh and exciting, and the new chairs are quite comfy! Reccomend you go check it out.

Great show and knowledgeable staff!
