A popular “selfie” place, currently under construction for updates to the wooden structures. The fountain used to be UNC’s only source of water. Tradition states if you drink from the fountain your first day of class, you will have good luck, or all A’s!Also a picturesque place to take graduation pictures. It’s just a lovely, romantic area.March 22, 2019

One of the greatest landmarks of NC. The history of the Old Well dates back to the late 1700s and makes for a great venue for taking photos. Remember this incoming freshman to take a drink before you start your first class and you could make straight As your first semester. Theres magic in the water. Make sure to go to class and study!

Beautiful campus! Walking around the fields near the old well was such a wonderful experience. It was November, but it was still warm enough that I could stay outside for hours enjoying the sun, and sitting in the shade under the beautiful trees all around the well. I had such a pleasant morning there! Great place, great history, and walking around here is an absolute must-do for any visit to Chapel Hill.

I wouldnt drive across country to see this, but if you are on campus it is a cool piece of history. It was clean and well maintained. Our kids got a kick out of being able to drink from the water fountain over the well. Beautiful location for taking pictures. Been there, done that, check in the box type of place, but the UNC campus is a nature filled enjoyable walk that is always enjoyed.

Most photographed place in Chapel Hill! The rumor is take a drink of water from the Old Welll the first day of class and you will get straight As that semester. No proof of this anywhere being true but that does not stop 1000s of students lining up every semester.

One of the historical landmarks od the UNC Chapel Hill college campus. It is located right in the middle of the hussle and bussle of college classrooms and is a popular spot for students to meet between classes to chat. It has lots of beautiful old trees around its area where students sit on the lawn and do homework or simply take a breather between classes. It is such a truly old and beautiful campus.
