Such a cool gem located here in good old Champaign. Anytime I have an out of town visitor I bring them here & they love it! The guides are knowledgable & provide an educational & fun experience for people of all ages.

Who knew there is a planetarium in Champaign? I didnt. Not only that, its the second largest in illinois after Adler in Chicago, and I checked there is a few other in Illinois. It was a bit hard to get there because its a curvy and long road after exiting Bradley Ave. Great display of photos and objects outside of the theater. We watched a short documentary. The lady that introduced us to the show was fun and knowledgeable, I learned a lot about stars.

The Staerkel Planetarium is a hidden gem in the Champaign area. The Good: The planetarium theater itself was beautiful. Located on the Parkland College campus, the planetariums state-of-the-art digital projection system, operated by the (nicest) planetarium director, Dave Leake, proved to be breathtaking. His storytelling held my sons attention the entire time - and Im sure seeing Santa up in the sky didnt hurt either! The Bad: At the time of our visit, campus construction blocked the front entrance of the planetarium, making it a bit difficult to navigate our way inside.Overall: We loved the kid-friendly show at the William M. Staerkel Planetarium, and would certainly return for another show!

Watched the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. Total fraud. Payed $12 to watch a screensaver for 1 hour. Could have stayed home and stare at my own screensaver. The only good thing was the Pink Floyd music.
