The walk around the little lake is very nice and not too long. The place is also good for jogging. There is plenty of parking and also some spots for fishing. We like the place in summer and fall most and bring the kids, stroller, and a scooter. Everything is paved so walking around with that kind of gear is no problem. The kids also love the little cartoon character float!!

It is a nice place to go for a walk or run. I see people fish here a lot, so I assume the fishing here is decent? I wish it were bigger, but I am still grateful that this place exists in town.

Great place to fish, picnic or go for a walk. The park district does a great job maintaining the lake and the porta potty clean. As a mom though I would not recommend that you walk the back of the park trail headed to Bradley later in the evening, it is very secluded, and I have found shady characters in the back area. The highway underpass creates dangerous spots were people can hide.

Its a nice place to walk. You see people fishing, boating, picnicking, walking their dogs, etc. You dont feel like youre on the edge of a busy street. Its just nice!

Nice family friendly place

This park is a breath of fresh air. Ive come here to do group cookouts multiple times, exercised on the walkway around the lake, or played various yard games in there oversized open areas. Its centrally located and easy to get to from main roads and always well-maintained.

Been here a dozen times at least fishing and only caught turtles, I heard there were catfish but I havent seen any or bass

Great place to enjoy natue. You can walk around the pond, Ive noticed numerous people bird watching which is very cool. Fishing is allowed and there is several spots that are very easy to get down by the water to get a close up view. Ive seen people with remote control boats in the water as well as homemade sailboats.

Good little park in the middle of town. I went for spring trout season but was unsuccessful on opening morning.They recently rebuilt the shore line and added a nice deck/dock structure.Saw lots of geese, ducks, and a heron so that was pretty cool. I with there were more fish though.Only downside is that the entrance is pretty well hidden so it pops up out of nowhere unless you know where youre looking.

Rare secret gem right in town.

Only one port-a-potty, no vending machines, a few picnic tables, a drinking fountain, and a grill. There are doggy doo bags if you need one. A few people fish here.

Nice place to walk or fish. They even have a little fire pit place, very cute.

Great place for a mid-day or afternoon jog. Very relaxing fishing site. A place Mon-Fri @12 youll find multiple people in their cars enjoying lunch. A couple of trees but if its s sunny day I wouldnt forget tanning lotion as the sun is very apparent. Occasionally youll see a water moccasin on train tracks but if you stay on trail and designated fishing areas youll be alright. Would of given 5 stars but the office is almost never open and how can this be a lake and not sell bait anywhere on lake area?

Good fishing. Got my 5 limit in about 20mins. People who say otherwise do not know what to they are doing.

Friendly people here. If you come often enough, youll see the regulars here. Beautiful path around the lake, to have a nice stroll.

Beautiful spot to fish or picnic or take a nice walk. Free to the public, open from dawn til dusk. Usually a great place to watch Canada geese and ducks, but this year there just arent any. Last year there was a snow goose, but she didnt come back this year, either.

We dont have many water places in Champaign, so thanks to the Champaign Park District for maintaining this and for keeping it simple. You can put in a paddle-powered boat, go fishing or go for a walk. Only downside is some of the visitors seem a bit... sketchy.

Great little park

It has a nice trail. Fishing is okay, but the took out docks on the West side of the lake which was nice to fish off of in the evening. Now most of the places to fish have you staring into the sun.

Good spot for fishing... But if you have toddlers not the best idea due to the population of canadian geese that call it home and your little ones that find them curious!

We use Kaufman Lake as a running track. It suit our purposes well. You can run just around the lake or, for a change of scenery, you can follow the path to the north under the highway and go all the way to Heritage Park (Bradley Ave). I personally wouldnt take the path to Heritage Park after dark. The area under the overpass seems like it could be a hangout for some shady characters.

Kaufmann started out as a borrow pit for the nearby highway in the 60s. Now wildlife gathers. Nice for bird watching.
