This is a great trail! I went last Sunday early before the late morning rush a friend and I. This trail is great for families. I enjoyed the shade on most of the trail, the water was relaxing while hiking, cool bridges, beautiful flowers, the rope swing was fun as well. The waterfall after the rope swing was beautiful. I cant wait to go back and explore.

The canyon is beautiful and Ive taken my family there many times. However, as a word of caution, In 2020 Davis County Search and Rescue has pulled many people out of this canyon with broken or twisted ankles. The trail is narrow, twisted with roots and rocks and requires rock scramble 1/2 mile in. If you dont consider yourself particularly nimble, I would suggest looking for a less technical trail, at least until you feel comfortable with this type of terrain.

Love the little waterfalls along the creek and the big majestic waterfall at the end. The shade provided by the trees makes it nice on a hot day. The flowers and trees and the aroma of mother nature gives along this trail is so peaceful. The fun part is the rope swing!

The first part of the trail is not very shaded, is narrow at spots and has some pretty big drop-offs, so be careful. We took our kids up and they really liked it. This trail has plenty of shade, waterfalls, rocks to climb over, nice clearings. So much fun!

Beautiful trail with little traffic the two days Ive been (weekdays in the morning and afternoon). Walking alongside the stream is very peaceful. Its only a couple miles long but with the elevation gain you feel like youve done more than that. Tree coverage just about the whole time, so no need to worry about getting really sunburnt. Definitely worth the hike.

You need a truck or jeep to get past the steep, rutted, rocky road. There are also some holes in the road in order to get to trailhead. The last part of the dirt road is not well maintained.Trail is very rocky and has several makeshift bridges to cross. The trail is very shady and beautiful. Good family outing.**No bathrooms

Hiked with my three older children and Siberian Husky early in the morning. Peaceful trail running along a creek. Perfect weather, green, and not many bugs. The falls are gorgeous right now with spring run off. The swing has been redone with a tie down and works perfectly.

SUCH A COOL HIKE!!!Has all the elements you’d want — rock climbing, bridges (11!) over water, an amazing swing, and waterfalls! It’s about 4.5 miles out and back, and the swing is 1.2 miles in.Dog-friendly ️Kid-friendly ️Not very difficult, although some parts can get muddy, slippery, and a little steep. I’d rate it a 2/5 for difficulty, and a 10000/5 for coolness. It’s also mostly-shaded, so that’s great for summertime!

Beautiful, shaded and cool. You meander along Deuel Creek for roughly 2.75 miles up to the falls. A few steep sections to watch for. A great hike for families.

Im not sure if I can describe how amazing this trail is. Lots of creek crossings via bridges and magnificent foliage. It is also a bit crowded for my taste, but the fall colors are spectacular. Plenty of Golden coin-shaped leaves, in and around the creek bed and trail, to enjoy. The water really gets zipping along especially where it follows the cliffs and crags along the way. One of the very best trails in the area. IMHO.But be aware, there are several steep washed out sections, so keep an eye on your kids.

My family liked this hike. Fun to be right by the creek a lot of the time. My kids afraid of heights were nervous about some parts of the trail, I didnt think they were very dangerous but I would hang onto young children. I thought the drive up to the trailhead was sketchy. Quite steep in places and dirt roads with lots of rocks and holes, it was OK but it made me nervous.

Very pretty trail, a little difficult in some spots, but worth it (especially since there really arent many doggy poop bags past those points). Some people like to leave bags of dog poo on and off the trail, not a lot, but its pretty gross cause a lot of people go here, but other than that its nice.

Great trail to a rope swing (1.15 miles) and a small waterfall (2.35 miles). More technical than most in the area, but not as steep as others. Watch out for poison ivy late May to August. You can get a passenger car to the trailhead in the summer and fall if you drive carefully, but higher clearance is better.

This is a lovely place to hike. Let me set something straight first, the drive up to the parking area and trail head is sort of terrifying because its pretty steep and you definitely have to watch for oncoming vehicles because there are some places where the road will only fit one vehicle. The trail head itself does exists. It looks like there is a place where a map of the trail used to be, but the glass is broken and that map/guide no longer exists where it is supposed to. The trail takes you to a stream and more or less follows it up the mountain. There are several man-made bridges, which are cool and there are a few places where the trail stops because you have to climb over some rocks to get to the next bit of trail. There is a rope swing about a mile and a half up that has apparently been there a really long time and I assume it is still safe (people still use it fairly often). The trail continues on past the swing. I have never been past the swing, but I dont think it goes much further because everyone who has continued on was back in the parking lot about another 30-60 minutes later. Overall, an adventurous trail. Ill be going again.

Horrible experience here. I love hiking and the outdoors. We came here one weekend for a morning hike up to the waterfall with some friends. We parked where everyone else was parked along the side of the road coming up (no signs saying no parking, no indication that this was a no parking area).Came down to tickets on all of our cars for unsafe parking. Apparently the City of Centerville Police believe that parking on the side of a road is illegal and unsafe even though there arent signs. We arent from Centerville and had no idea that we were not supposed to park here. I even called their police department to find out what we had done wrong. The cop who left us the tickets was a total jerk. Telling me that there arent signs saying not to park in the middle of the street but its still illegal. However we werent parked in the middle of anything. We were parked on the side of a road. As were about 20 other cars.

Fun trail! Nicely shaded so it keeps you cool in the summer. Good for hiking or trail running. Nice steady climb. Rope/chain swing about 1.3 miles from trail head. Waterfall 2 miles up.You can drive right up to the trailhead. If you do watch you approach or make sure to have some ground clearance. (I have seen a few Priuss up there ).The berries are thimbleberries so should be good for eating, although I havent tried them yet.

We love this hike! There are a few steep drop offs right at the beginning, so it might not be ideal for really small children, but our 6 year old did fine. The incline of the trail itself is gentle and it runs along a really nice little creek. After the first couple hundred yards the trail is mostly shaded and running along the stream keeps it cool. There are a few spots where the tail almost disappears because you have to climb over some boulders to follow it, but that just adds to the fun. There are also a few spots where you have to cross bridges over the creek. Really fun and gentle hike - one of our favorites!

It was quite awesome, I definitely plan on coming here again. Even though most of life is dead during this time (November), it still had some greenery. When coming up to the trail, there were a few points where it was difficult for 2 vehicles to pass through (quite a hefty drop) and I had a Jeep so it wasnt too difficult. However, I recommend being careful if you have a normal vehicle.Near the end of the trail is a rope swing. It was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be as we earned that swing. The trail goes further up (totalling around 1.5 miles or so) another loops back around to the North Trail Head. The overall incline from start to finish is around 4700 to 5500 for the South Head Trail.

Only rating this a 3 because its super sketchy with littler kiddos. My 6 year old is a pretty experienced hiker for his age. Carries his own gear(well most of it). So I dont usually need to worry. However on this beautiful trail I was worried about his safety and mine. Lets get some trail maintenance on the first quarter mile alteast. Please build a retaining wall and some guard rails or even make a alternate beginning portion. Other than that this trial is amazing and beautiful. I love it. Be safe at the beginning. Happy hiking. We started late and didnt get to the waterfall so I cant comment on that part. Well get it next time: )

Now is a good time of year, but in the summer theres too many bugs, too many snakes, too many people, too many kids. Ruins it. I often read posts of people complaining that dogs arent on leashes like they should be. Well I come up here so my dog doesnt have to be on a leash. You want to see dogs on leashes go down to the Legacy Parkway Trail.

I love this trail! Its perfect for a Sunday hike, because its only moderately difficult at select points, requiring very light bouldering. Sundays are also low-traffic days in Davis County, so thats a plus. However, I dislike the dirt-road that leads up to the trail head. This road is not well maintained. Even in a larger vehicle the several holes and very loose gravel present a challenge.

Really great trail with beautiful views and nice shade for almost the entire hike. The trail follows a stream for most of the hike to Deuel Creek Waterfall, so theres plenty of fresh water for your pup. There were a few muddy spots and a small amount of snow up by the waterfall, but other than that it was pretty dry. The trail crossed the stream quite a few times, and all but one crossing had sturdy log bridges. There is one area early on where you need to make your way over some large rocks to stay on the trail, and a few steep areas as well, but for the most part it was gradual ups and downs. I wound recommend a hiking pole though; we were very glad E had its today! There is also a really neat tree swing about 1.5 miles in for kids to ride on. All in all, we really loved this trail and will definitely be going back! Theres a steep 1/2 mile dirt road to get to the trail head though, so youll either need a 4WD vehicle to make it up, or you can park down on the road and hike up to the trailhead. There is no bathroom at this trail, and there is a shooting range and 4x4 course right near the entrance as well, so just be alert if you bring kids or dogs.
