This is a really nice park, connected to lots of trails in the Cedar Valley. There is a campground, a few cabins, and the lake is very fun to explore via Kayaks. We love to go early in the morning to get a really nice experience with mother nature and all the animals.

Disc GolfersVery nice 18 hole ADVANCED disc golf course. Not great for beginners but very challenging at times. Well maintained. Wooded area for most of it so best to have long pants if you make it in to the weeds as often as I did. 100% recommend

We big woods for the scenery, people, dogs, and great people . The leaves are off the trees now, lots of squirrels and the lake is beautiful @ all times!!! Come on out!!!

Great area for camping, biking and walking!

Nice campground (we tent camped). Nice trail all the way around the lake. Bathrooms, sadly on opposite end from tent camping area, were clean with a small playground outside. We had 4 adults and 3 kids, 3 and under - it worked well for us!

Awesome spot for recreation! The lake is wonderful for fishing and kayaking. The trail loop around the entire lake is high enjoyable, and it is connected to the metro trail system. Quick ride from Big Woods to Black Hawk Park or Downtown Cedar Falls. The walking paths through the prairie are also very enjoyable.

Great place to go walking around the lake. And plenty of spots to get to the banks for fishing too!!

Fantastic 18 hole disc golf course through some nice wooded areas along with a more open back 9 for big throwers. Only negative is the edges and rough is so overgrown and ignored that it is extremely easy to lose your discs in any season but spring

Excellent small rec area

Bike trail goes around the entire lake and is a great path to walk on. Theres also paths leading off the bike trail into different gardens.Theres nice shelters and bathroom there as well.

Great place to run, walk, bike along the trail. 1 loop is about 1.8 miles. Also some unpaved trails to bird watch and check out the vegetation. Good place to kayak as well on the lake. Several people are out fishing when the weather is nice.

Big Woods Lake is my favorite place to relax at during all four seaons. You can boat, sit & look over the lake, or my favorite, walk the trail & go through the pine cove. Theres even a camp ground so you can enjoy the lake for a couple of days whenever you need a quick little get away.

I really like paddle boarding here. There is no wake allowed so you dont have to worry about crazy boats.

Always a great time walking the trails or leisurely kayaking on the lake. Nice camping facility, peaceful yet just a short drive away from downtown CF.

Great place to go boating, hiking, walking, fishing, etc, but land fishing spots are somewhat limited due to a lot of brush.

Nice clan park close to town, 2 boat access points, kayak friendly, no wake speed for boats, no swimming unfortunately, surrounded by the cedar valley nature trail.

The lake area is fine and well kept. The new camping area has full hook up and free wi-fi but that is where it ends. There are no bathrooms or showers. Nice access to the bike trails and the lake but that was about it. $22 a night is too much. Campground of last resort for this area.
