This place is so cool especially if you like history. Took my 7 and 2 year old here. We do a lot of hiking but this was a lot for them. I wish I had brought the stroller with. Its all paved but very hilly going up several hills tried them out them out fast. We will go again with the stroller next time. It was very cool.

Many elevation changes. A good work out! Wide paths, plenty of room for walking and biking. Many off-road mountain bike trails but didnt take those. Brings a good crowd on the weekends. Bring water. Couple benches at the entrance that could be used for a picnic.

Beautiful, quiet scenery. Great if you only have an hour. Or spend the day with a picnic in the pit, on the ground. Many hills, few sitting areas. Off road trails for biking too (did not experience).

Review №4

Great mountain bike trails. Different levels of difficulty and paved trails for those looking for easy (no easy dirt paths). The only downside is the mountain bike trails arent well marked or one direction, so you constantly come upon riders coming head on and its too narrow for two directional riding so you constantly have to pull off trail and wait. Directional signs, difficulty markers, and one way loops would greatly improve the ride.

Hands down best Forest Preserve in Kane County. Take a leisure stroll through woods, experience fantastic bike trails, and walk though history at historic raceway park. Dramatic elevation changes and wooded wetlands make this park worth it.

I go to raceway semi-regularly for MTN biking. The folks who work on and maintain the trails really do a great job. The trail system is a little small when compared with Palos, for example, but is high quality. Definitely worth a visit.

Let the sweetness of the 1950s and 1960s spirit of Insane Automobile Racing, right here in Chicagos farthest NW suburbs. Its the course of an ACTUAL racetrack that had to close because of too many folks dying I guess. You cant make up sweet history like this. And there is so much room Covid can never catch you, but watch out for Lees Hairpin Turn, itll getcha!

We love Raceway Woods. Our kids love getting to explore off and on path. You get a bit of a workout as you go up to begin, but what goes up must come down. The bike trails are voluntarily maintained and much respect is due to this effort.

Not only is the old raceway a trail, but there are nature trails, benches, and picnic areas throughout the park. It will take many visits to explore them all. Everything appears to be very well maintained and the scenery was very pretty, especially in the snow when we went. Trails lend themselves particularly well for bicycles, but work well for hikers too. We are looking forward to returning with our cross-country skis.

Saw a female deer on the edge of the main straight a way..maybe 20 away...she wasnt scared at all...probably used to folks walking or riding around....go early, or later because it can get crowded...love the Eastern Cotton woods...their leaves seem to shimmer in the sun...majestic...

Wonderful bike track, full of history and excitement. I rode around the old track first and then ventured into the trails. My favorite hands down was monza. It was challenging and scary, yet exciting. The trails are mainanted very well, theyre technical and flow really well. This place offers something for everyone. Being an amateur mountain biker I found some sections alittle too difficult so i stayed on the more beginner friendly trails. Serpentine is a good beginner route.

Fascinating hidden artifact for those interested in 1960s era motorsports, while also a beautiful place to walk or run. The 3.27 mile long ghost track is mostly paved (including sections of original paving), and signs claim the straightaway was the longest in the world when built. Track has extensive flat stretches, but eastern-most portion in woods is curvy and hilly for some great cardio workouts.

Great Forest Preserve. Lots of paths for hiking and walking but I would definitely describe this as a biking park. The main asphalt track as well as many of the smaller trails are really meant for different difficulty challenges for riders. No matter what level of rider a person may be, this park will be challenging. Awesome day off riding.

Planted some indigenous plants there on Earth Day with our scout troop. The forrest preserve does need some TLC. While walking the paths, we did come across some cans and bottles and trash. Our troop picked up the rubbish we found and discarded accordingly. There is not a lot if parking there, but enough for a medium size group (10-15 cars) to park there.

Perfect place to go mountain biking or even for a walk. There is a large outer loop with a paved path that is great for walking/running that goes over a bridge with an excellent view of the forest and river. The outer loop is about 3 miles long. Inside the outer loop there are several mountain bike trails with varying difficulty which are a great workout to bike on.
