9-27-2020: Went to Carpenter Dam today. Walked south into a wooded area for about a half mile, as far as I could go, then back to the Dam. Walked north nearly a mile into Fox River Shores Forest Preserve and found a nice spot by the river where it would be nice to take chairs and sit. Very peaceful. No boats since youre so close to the Dam. Trails go further north so looks like a good place for a longer walk.

Quiet. Wonderful place .for pic nic with family. Isnt very far . Close to elgin city .nice

Gorgeous area to bike ride. Its part of the Fox River Trail. Its a very nice stopping area with a lot to look at.

Been fishing here since the 70s, and partied here in the 80s. Nice they cleaned up the river and made it more family friendly. Too bad Cville still has its problems with trashy people screwing up the place with litter.

Nice quiet and pretty place. You can watch the ricer..see some wild life. Fish or just go for a walk.

First time launching Kayak at this spot. I paddled up river then back.. Several spots were a real work out against the current. Several times I had to head back doen river a little and attack the curretnt from a diffrent side or angle. I reached a point right below the algonquin dam where the current was too strong and turned around and headed back. Great paddle.

Today was my first visit here. It seems to be very nice for hiking, biking and birdwatching. I will come back again soon. Todays sightings : Bald Eagle, White Pelicans, Red-winged Blackbirds, Mallards, Canadian Geese and overhead was a ton of Sandhill Cranes.

My old fishing spot has been found! Used to fish there all the time in the 90s. Next to the Carpentersville Dam.

Clean and well kept area. Unfortunately not the best place for fishing, unless you are by the dam and willing to go into the water.Definitely worth visiting for the walk by the banks.

Good for fishing with the family, has a covered area to sit out of the sun and enjoy a cookout with anyone you care about. Plenty of parking area. Nice surroundings.
