Leo Carrillo Ranch is a rad place for a wedding. Historic charm. Check! Gorgeous property. Check. Place to gather with all of your family & friends or to have an intimate wedding: absolutely! As a photographer, the natural light at this venue is enchanting and its full of amazing backdrops for your meaningful moments and portraits. I love weddings here and think its such a unique and beautiful San Diego wedding venue.

What a stunning space for a wedding! Leo Carrillo does well to create an intimate vibe for family and friends to celebrate the couple. As a wedding photographer, there is no shortage of beautiful backdrops and dreamy light to work with throughout the day! The getting ready spaces are also super appealing. Loved working here!! Im glad to have bumped into this lovely peaceful place. Takes me back in time, makes me feel like being in an old western film. The place is well decorated. Nice place to chill and relax away from everything or excellent for wedding pictures and I believe you can camp there as well but Im not sure during Covid. My favorite was to see the cute peacocks roaming around.

Amazing experience here at the ranch. There is so much history packed into the tour! I think the free tour last 90 minutes. There is ALOT of walking so come prepared. The tour is the only way for you to get in and see the buildings. Its a good idea to bring a water. If you bring lunch be prepared for a bird to try to lunch with you. Its definitely a place you can take kids and the whole family. Theres a beautiful white peacock running around too. I cant wait to go back and take more pictures. The gift shop is super cute. We bought a feather...its a small way to support the ranch. Everyone was friendly.

Charming, upscale rustic outdoor venue perfect for a wedding (our occasion to visit). California’s Spanish heritage is prevalent throughout with whitewash adobe buildings and red tile roofs. Abundant plant life, including beautiful and dramatic cactus. Peacocks roam everywhere. Everything is clean, well organized, well laid out. Very welcoming and relaxing environment.

What a tranquil and awesome setting for a special occasion! I didnt care for the dinner offerings, though. It was obvious that the meal was freshly prepared, using quality ingredients. However, there is a time and place for enchiladas and a taco bar, and a formal wedding definitely is NOT one of them. The [female] guests should have been informed ahead of time to refrain from wearing heels on such uneven, hilly, and gravelly terrain. Be sure to bring a wrap - the evening tends to get a bit on the chilly side.

Leo Carrillo was the second venue we toured and literally booked it the next day. It’s lush, beautiful (day AND night), has a great staff, and there is literally not a bad spot on the property. The entire team is wonderful. We had a few different points of contact through the process, but each person was able to keep up with our ideas and what we wanted for our wedding. They answered emails and questions so quickly and never forgot one detail. The wedding day itself went so perfectly. Our day of coordinator was Kendra. In the words of my mother, “Kendra is OUTSTANDING.”The wedding day was so smooth. The whole day I never questioned or worried about anything going wrong or being crazy, Kendra had it all under control. Plus, she is like a magician. She would literally appear out of nowhere to grab us for whatever was happening (pictures, dance, cake cutting, etc) and then would be out of site when she wasn’t needed. My mom was so happy and raved to me about Kendra dropping the gifts and cards into her car and returning the key to her purse without my mom ever having to leave the party. My husband and I wanted to do a private last dance at the very end of the night to enjoy the moment together. Kendra was able to round up all of our guests to get them lined up for our exit without them even knowing we were staying behind for a few minutes. She collected the items we told her we needed from the bridal suite, and had them on the golf cart waiting for us, then dropped us off with our ride.Literally every guest has told us it was the most fun wedding they’ve ever been to. It’s been almost three months since our wedding and I look at pictures daily. I can’t believe how well it came together and just how much more beautiful everything was from what I imagined. Im so happy we got married at Leo Carrillo!

Smaller than expected, but really a unique treat. Theres lots of shade and the grounds are well maintained. The doors to the buildings were locked, so you may need to take a tour to see the insides. Handicap accessible walkways were a huge plus, but due to the historic nature of the facility, some areas are best traveled by foot. I strongly recommend watching the video at the visitors center as this will help you understand and appreciate your surroundings.

Watch the movie about Leo Carrillo at the visitors center. Its about 15 minutes long, and tells you about how the famous Broadway and Hollywood actor decided to buy a historic Rancho in Carlsbad, and update it.Leo Carrillo played the sidekick Pancho, in the TV series The Cisco Kid. Its kind of nice imagining him riding horseback around the canyons of Carlsbad. The ranch is a very comfortable walk, and you can envision what it was like as a working Ranch. Its used for weddings these days, and receptions.I like that I live in the same town that Leo Carrillo did.

Wow what a fabulous restoration! This historic ranch built and owned by none other than Poncho from The Cisco Kid tv series, played by actor Leo Carrillo! A great guide showed us around, opening up all the buildings and rooms one by one and explained the history behind everything! No charges to park or the tour. A 10 minute movie about Leo, his family and the family who he hired to do the buildings etc. and history of the area is shown at the visitor center which should be your first stop. The gift shop is also at the visitor center however I think it would do better if it was at the end of the walking around the ranch as when we were finished we didnt feel like walking back to the visitor center from the parking area. Great job city of Carlsbad!

Leo Carillo Ranch Historic Park is a surprisingly wonderful venue for weddings and wedding ceremonies. With a nature filled woodsiness its the perfect backdrop for those couples looking for that rustic feel. I would say about 100 people fit comfortably with tables and chairs, complete with food and bar set up.Staff was very helpful and polite. Only downside was parking at the top of a dirt slope with pebbles rocks lining the pathway down to the venue. My wife had a hard time walking in heels up and down the hill. But fret not, the venue does provide a golf cart shuttle.Gorgeous venue that I highly recommend.
