Nice enough area. The trails are well marked. The gravel is loose in spots so be careful when making a descent. The trail bridges are well-kept. I was surprised the day I was out there that so many folks were out acting foolish, but it was what it was.

Nice free stop with the kids to learn more about nature and history in SE Missouri. Was too cold to do the lake it trails, but both looked really nice. Lots of hands on exhibits and chances to touch and feel animal skins. A handful of aquarium with snakes, lizards, gosh and frogs. Really nice spot indoors to sit and watch the birds feeding outside. We did not check out the movie in the auditorium. Small gift shop in side. Highlight for the kids was the two headed snake.

You need to take your kids here. A great place to introduce a young person to nature.

This is a really fantastic place. The nature center itself is great and the kids (9 and 3) had a wonderful time. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. They offered native seeds and plants to us which was wonderful. Staff was very informative. The trails are beautiful. I highly recommend this place.

Free parking, free admission. Plan on 30 minutes to 1 hour inside. Well maintained Loop Trails outside good for half an hour to 2 hours walking. One is wheelchair accessible and paved. The rest are gravel and lots of ups and down.

This was always a fun place to go to when I was young and still is fun today. Very educational with a lot of hands on exhibits and real animal skins. Outside you can go fishing or hiking. A great place to take kids

A beautiful establishment, and kind enough to display my father and Is work on local butterflies/moths.

We visited Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center on Saturday for their Fall Festival from 4-8pm. The event had a Trek N’ Treat Trail where visitors met creature characters (misunderstood animals who seem spooky but are not, such as skunks and black bears) on the trail. The event also featured crafts, games, s’mores and cider. This was a free event with no registration required. Children were encouraged to wear their costumes.MDC staff and volunteers did an amazing job! This is just one of the many great programs provided by MDC for the southeast region. The nature center is a jewel itself and open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am-5pm. Thank you for all that you do for the community and state!

Very clean and well kept! This place is wonderful to visit anytime of the year with flora and fauna changing with the seasons. Make sure to visit the Memorial on the other side of the building and honor our brave American soldiers.

I have called and contacted them about an owl who is killing the neighborhood cats. They tell me its not the owl, though my neighbour watched her cat being dropped from a tree and the owl going back after it. It sustained a lot of injuries and cost her a lot of money. I have had 3 cats disappear just since these owls have shown up in this area. well it may the norm for an owl to feed in cats. These are. And something needs to be done
