I recently went to this book store for the first time and loved it. Its not huge, but jam-packed with neat books and its so cozy and nice. You would never know the books are used, because they stock books that are in like-new condition. The prices are also super reasonable. I highly recommend this book store!

I love this place. As said in other reviews, its got a great selection of history and biographies. The prices are really good and the staff are great.I bought two books yesterday and after I walked out I spotted a 3rd I was interested in buying in the book stand just outside the front door of the store. I went back in and the staff member let me have the book for free! Cant ask for more than that if you ask me.

Really nice selection of philosophy books and biographies, prices are more than reasonable and staffers are nice and knowledgeable. I got 3 books which were like new and only cost me 25 dollars, one which would’ve cost me 30 if I bought it new. (Books were: Postmodernism & China - Various, The Triumph of Practice over Theory in Ethics - James Sterba, and Special Deluxe - NeilYoung

This is a great place to get hard to find books at a good price. I was there a few days ago and was impressed by the sheer volume of books they had. I must have spent over an hour looking through the massive collection. I ended up buying some books that I have been looking for but was unable to find. This is a must go for book lovers.

A good nonfiction selection. Going there for math or general science reading, I can typically find something that looks interesting. Its not that there are long rows devoted to neuroeconomics or anything; the space for most of the sections is just a few shelves. But I have gotten lots of entertaining reading, and several good references here.A solid choice if you need this kind of book in hardcopy.

Good collection of books, arranged well. You might not find some of the hot selling books as they tend to get sold out faster. Prices are amazing. The new copies are also sold at a discounted price. Totally worth a visit.

This place is not large, but what it lacks in quantity it more than makes up in quality. Save for some popular books, most (!) of what they have for sale are serious academic works. Store is also neatly arranged, making browse a pleasure. Prices are not bad, but definitely not the best for a used book shop (but those sales carts are hard to beat, for sure).

It reminds of the very best things of Harvard Squares past by selling excellent books at affordable prices. Though it appears to be Small it is much than it appears I think. Excellent history books, collector items both contemporary and more of music, art , science.. . Bibliophiles will be delighted (I think) as will audiophiles..

I remember the bookstore when it was still on JFK street, an oasis of intellect and sanity in an ever growing surroundings suffused with raw consumerism. The new location is airy and the offerings are still fantastic and at reasonable prices. Please stay in business, Raven!

Lovely place for scouting old books or books of a niche nature that you may not otherwise think to read. The staff is very helpful in giving reading advice, and the store is very well laid out, listing each subcategory of books by topic and genre. The books are extremely well priced, considering that many of them are classics and timeless reads. You may end up leaving with a book you have never even heard of, but you will certainly enjoy it, as all the books are of good quality and cater to any taste or preference. The store is conveniently located on Church Street where there is ample nearby parking, and also close to the T stop. It is easily noticeable from the road.

Says on their website they are not interested in buying textbooks, but when I called they said that was basically all they were looking for right now. Man on the phone was rude and trying to rush me off the line in a condescending manor. ‘I’m sure your book is lovely…’ Maybe if they get to many unwanted or uninteresting calls about people selling books they should make a different system for this. This was my first time trying to sell to them or ever calling them. Wish they would set up an email for book selling correspondence.Book selection itself is very good and well curated, nice to peruse their options.

Okay, I dont get to say this about many bookstores- but this place is the BEST! If youre a college student, a traveler, or on a budget, this is the place to go. I come here for all my books (they always have what I need despite it being such a small store). The staff are friendly, the store is well organized, and the decor is adorable. I take all my friends here and we ALWAYS find something. Even my mother, who hates reading, has found stuff here.

Great selection and average prices for second hand books in Boston. I’ve found both fiction and non-fiction that I really wanted there. The place is well organised and the books of all high quality. It seems like the kind of place that will reject a lot of mid quality stuff other second hand Bookshops would take.

The philosophy section has gotten a lot of love recently, and its awesome. Decent classics selection, too. The fiction wall is hit-or-miss, as are the piles of remainders along the wide beautiful window, but every time I visit, I find more great stuff than I can take home. The booksellers know the stock; they are there for you when you have a question and busy with their work when you dont - perfect.

This was one of my favorite used bookstores in college. I remember being heartbroken when it closed down. It was wonderful to return and see it reopened in a new location. They get 5 stars for not just a wide assortment of cheap books, but also for having an exceptional poetry collection.

One of my favorite places to purchase books. Books tend to lean on the liberal side if that makes sense. I come here for the economics, anthropology, and math books primarily and they always have big authors and some works that you might be hard pressed to find even on amazon. Ive collected way too many discount cards from them at this point.

A good little book thats a little bit hidden. The woman working there was very friendly, but I didnt like that all of the fiction (Sci-fi, mystery, etc) was all combined into one area, which was pretty small. Not a huge selection of things to choose from but still a cool little spot.

Raven has, hands down, the best selection of used books in Boston/Cambridge. Its like every smart, literary reader in Boston had to give up their collection (sad, I know, but someones going to buy them--it might as well be you). Plus, Ravens staff is consistently friendly and helpful. And the store has this beautiful lighting and a table to browse outside.I may have to go to Raven right now.

Even though I find this bookstore to be lovely, and I love the treasures I find, I must give it a low score because the staff is extremely unkind and arrogant. They make you feel as if you were a bother instead of appreciating your support. I dont get the reason for their attitude. It is distasteful.

Was looking forward to visiting this store, however the attitude of the staff left something to be desired. A staff member behind the counter had a few books he was sorting land on him. He had a total temper tantrum, cursed loudly, and hurled books over the counter, many of which landed on my feet. He then stormed off in a rage around back for a good ten minutes leaving the store and counter unattended. Was entirely put off buying anything and will not visit again

Poor selection. Staff is unusually arrogant. Prices are high. My suggestion is to go to Brattle Books on West Street by the common. You can take the red line and get off at Park. Then just walk to West. The store is near Suffolk University. They have better selection, ette prices and the staff that is not arrogant.

Newbury street doesnt have enough bookstores on it so the presence of Raven Used Books is highly appreciated.Located on the garden level of a building, this place is much larger than it first appears. With books literally covering every available inch of wall space, one could easily get lost in there for hours before emerging with a handful of books they never knew they needed.Price wise, everything is fairly reasonable. Some other used bookstores in the city are goregous and have a wonderful selection but their prices are just a bit too high. $20 for a book on food writing thats ten years outdated? Really? Here, things are about $10 cheaper and that makes a very big difference.Ill also add that this place is located next to a French restaurant so it smells amazing!
