We had a picnic in the park. It was really odd because there were homeless junkies just sleeping on a mattress in the park there were also non looking homeless people just sleeping in the park...like oh I got tired let me just go to sleep in the grass. So weird. The history in the park was amazing! The statues and the stories they told were awesome! Great learning experience for the kids it Boston seriously needs to clean up their parks.
Beautiful, huge parkplenty of room to walk around, nice benches, trees, peaceful oasis in the midst of Cambridge.
The absolutely perfect place to observe Fall colors (especially for someone from Florida). Very clean area, offering benches for relaxing, and a safe feel to the entire visit. I hope to return in 2021.
As most things in Cambridge its clean, easy to get to, and relatively calm.In general, its a park with a bunch of statues of old white dudes. If you have kids, the playground seems impressive
Lovely place to sit and chill for a while. Some have been known to party here back in the day, also has a playground and statue of Abraham Lincoln also the spot where the original Liberty Tree where George Washington assumed leadership of our newly enlisted and created military to fight England because a few rich white men didnt want to pay their taxes.
Beautiful park in the middle of Harvard Square. Harvard Yard is closed to students due to COVID, so this is a good alternative if youre looking for a pretty green space.
Nice and clean park! Ive seen people do lots of fun things here: camping, playing ball, gathering, exercising, biking, or just simply sit and relax! You can also learn some history about war and George Washington that are written on the stele here!
Always enjoy my visits to Harvard. A true wealth of history.
Nice park to take a walk in. Right in the midst of the Harvard campus and some nice monuments around. The park was clean and had a mix of families, students, tourists, and people exercising. It’s not a huge park but it was a nice stroll. I love all of the little Common parks around Boston and this is one of them.
Wonderful place and great selection of beer.
Some incredible park with a lot of history
Beautiful park in the heart of the city. You can walk your dog play with the kids, ride your bike. And its clean
Clean park & playground for kids.Loved the atmosphere.
Its pleasant grounds are well maintained. People stopping there concern themselves with their own agenda.Rarely distracting and always entertaining.Considering all the foot traffic it stays relatively open for a comfortable place to spend a moment. Peaceful area with just enough distance from Harvard Sq..
Great playground for 3-5s, fields for running around, trees for shade, historic location.
Great public park. Lots of grassy space to enjoy the outdoors while social distancing.
Nice small sized park. Gives you everything a park can provide but can get very packed.
I had higher expectations. The geniuses in Cambridge have figured out a formula for attracting urban campers!
A fun place to be all the time.
Visited my birth city for a few days, and stopped by the Common for a few minutes to relax and reflect. Its almost always quiet here, with all sorts of seating options (wood bench? Stone bench? CANNON?).The cemetery across the street is cool to look at, and there are some good views of Harvard buildings too.
Great kids park. Water, swings, climbing things.
Kids can be completely independent. Really nice adult conversation. One of my favorite places to be.
Great ark with water play for kids
Wish there was more shade in the summer. All benches are under direct sun it seems.
I heard this is where they got the idea for Central Park. Youre welcome, Manhattan.
Lively and entertaining place.
Beautiful ️
Lots of green and room to rome round
Whimsical delight for children in the midst of Cambridge
Had a good dinner at Cambridge Common with a very good turkey burger with guacamole and salsa. The restaurant has a very good beer selection and a menu with lots of options. The restaurant is also attached to the Lizard Club, a basement underground music venue which had great local bands and the restaurant serves its full menu downstairs there as well.
Beautiful park with many moving memorials to various historical events. Its a very large park fantastic for running, or bringing your dog.
Grrrreat
Beautiful site. Beautiful piece of history. Beautiful school.
There are actually two Cambridge Commons that our family loves: the historic city park (with childrens playground) next to Harvard, and the restaurant of the same name, a couple of blocks up Massachusetts Ave. Regarding the playground: our kids love the variety of physical challenges at the Cambridge Common playground, from climbing on the spider web of ropes, dancing in the giant saucer swing, spinning on the merry-go-round, or balancing on the wooden piers like a cormorant. Even in the winter, we enjoy stopping by for some outdoor play time.
Beautiful groomed grounds historic feel the college intellectual atmosphere just go
Great grew up around here, love it
Awesome park with heart playground
Nice playground with a gate, water play, tire swings, picnic table. Grassy area of Common takes up the whole block with walkways, some shade, rabbits. Free or meter parking around Common is usually possible. If not, park on street near Longee School of Music. Very close to Harvard Square and T.
What can I say, historical place for mostly locals
Its a beautiful place to visit they just renovated the whole park you can play the softball baseball picnics in two very beautiful and well maintained groovy baby
Harvard campus and cambridge architecture blending with beauty
If u have a child 2 years and above, this place is fantastic. The playground is so much fun my son never wants to leaveBe ready for them to be wet, happy, full of sand and minor boboos.
Amazing park for all ages.Fully enclosed. Water play in the summer.Lots of sand. Natural look.
Good views good hike or walk if you want to go
Super lively place, filled with locals and students. Excellent food and great for families.
Its beautiful and in a great location next to Harvard Square!
Its good Park overall but the playground is exceptional if you have small kids. Its one of the top 10 playgrounds in Massachusetts.
One of the best place in the middle of busiest city. You can come here and relax a bit.
Beautiful park...on weekends look for street parking around the park...easy to find and walkable from Harvard square
Nice place to walk around
Great Playground that is very different from traditional structures. Lots of shade!
Lots of open space, historical site; also a million good times and memories for me that happened there
Liked it
A must see for any resident or visitor to Cambridge. Beautiful park with so much American Revolution history. Make sure you read all the signage and plaques
Recently fixed up. The area is beautiful.
Clean, well kept. The history of the park is often overlooked, but stop and read the historical plaques and you will see you are at a place of great historical significance.Theres always seating for an al fresco lunch, a quiet chat with a friend or to read quietly. Depending on where you sit in relation to foot traffic you can do some fascinating eves dropping.Recently renovated (2017) the sidewalks and paths are smooth and even, so its very wheelchair friendly.
Such a nice park, I love walking around here.
There is a wonderful playground at the north end of Cambridge Common. It has a natural theme, with a hill for climbing, slides, play structures built like boats, water features like showers and a series of troughs the kiddos can then extend by digging in the sand, and more. Bus stops nearby, and Harvard Station is just a short walk away. If headed in that direction, there are, of course, all the shops and food places Harvard Square has to offer. This is a great playground for our kids (4 and 6).
Good space for public event.
Historic, beautiful, well kept area yo stroll near Harvard University
The playground at the North end of the commons is fantastic for my 4 and 7 year old boys. They love playing with the water and being able to run around inside the fence. The larger commons area is great for people watching or just lying in the grass.
Great spot to kick a soccer ball or throw a frisbee around
The coolest playground, field areas, and a few monuments. Metered parking all around.
Finding a parking place is bit challenging but if you go there on Sunday you can use on street parking as well
Birthplace of the United States Army 244 years ago today. George Washington assembled the Continental Army here before marching them across the street to spend the night at Harvard.
Spacious n has a little play area for children
The playground is good for a mix of ages. It has a soft surface on the ground and plenty of equipment. There are slides, climbing boat/structure, spinning merry-go-round, swings, and a water feature. There could be a few more benches for parents. Watch out for the squirrels - they are well fed and are not afraid to jump into strollers to try and get food.
Love this place. It gets pretty crowded on Fridays and Saturdays.
Busy place. Nice old buildings
This park is simply gorgeous and well maintained.
This is a badly place to view is not relaxing for people.
Historic and beautiful area.
Nice place for visitors to walk an explore history
A good location for a park. A break in the concrete
Shady spot on a park bench on a hot sunny day. Hit the spot.
Cambridge city usa is one of busy city in usa !
Lovely open space with lots for kids.
Lovely park. Benches to sit on and plenty of shade. Some neat historical monuments to see if youre in to that.
Nice open field with people going through and through. Some shade. Despite the traffic around its a nice green oasis with unusual enclosed playground. Always busy with kids and watching parents. Bring spare clothes for children - there are water fountains and huge sand pile :) No bathrooms though - a big inconvenience!
Relaxing park with options of games for kids
Clean, safe and good environment
Nice Park, the Playground is very good.
Nice historical exlerience.
