Years ago I read James Micheners book Chesapeakeand this is now my third visit to Cambridge over the last 18 years. The town remains my favorite Eastern Shore destination. The yachts in the marina and on the hard rouse my nautical spirit spirit every time. There can be few more beautiful places to sail anywhere in the world.

Beautiful park with shaded benches, 3 different playgrounds and a small beach. Conveniently located right off of 50. Not much shade on a hot, sunny day so come prepared with sunscreen or beach umbrella.

An evening with local favorite The Jones Boys. As always The Jones Boys give top notch performances! The music is not only timeless, but greatly honors all the artists whose music they cover. They even throw in an occasional original song of their own that is equal in quality to the others. Governors Hall was a little on the chilly side, (hence 4 stars) but otherwise delivered a most enjoyable event.

What a great day aboard The World War II Liberty Ship John W. Brown. You tour the ship, no charge but they appreciate a donation. It is a memorial museum ship. You tour the ship at your own pace. The volunteer staff are so well informed. They answer all questions and explain the ship to everyone. So professional and polite. It was a great day.

It is antiquated, needs too much work to make it a viable venue. I go to functions there every once in a while, last night in fact and enjoy them, but realize how much better they could be in a different world.

The Seafood Festival as usual is a great time to spend with family and friends who come in town from Baltimore, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Delawareto enjoy some Maryland crabs. We have been attending for 8 years or more. It can be a little irritating to have to wait for crabs after waiting on the Bay Bridge due to a back up. I have never had a piece of cooked bbq chicken. It is always undercooked and looks as if it is about to walk off the plate. Stop calling it bbq chicken and call it what it is undercooked chicken with bbq sauce just dumped on it. Why dont you boil it for 10 minutes to get a head start on it being cooked thoroughly. Many hotdogs appeared to be raw. Who wants hot dogs not straight from the pack??????? It is a cook out. Grill the hot dogs, darn. Many were thrown away by patrons. The question was is this hdog cooked? Let some heat go thru this meat. I find toooo much waste, which is sad with so many people unable to have something to eat due to homelessness.I will continue to come because I love the Eastern Shore and overall it is a good event. You just need to pay more attention to detail.

Love sailwinds park. Lots of open field on the water front, very rare thing to find these days. Beach with swimming access and park. Sweeping views of the river and acres of green grass. A visitors center to boot. Lets keep it this way!!! Very Chesapeake style / traditional real eastern shore beauty.

This lovely park at the corner of the bridge in Cambridge on the Choptank river was the site of a great annual kite festival. Lots of kids and music. There was a nice little stunt kite competition which I understand the local hospital secuity quashed without warning after 15 years. I hope they do better next year! Otherwise, dont miss the fun and dig up your kites cause youll never find a better spot to fly them!

In living in the area, Ive enjoyed the park to just take in the scenery and the choptank River with not a lot of pressures. The place does have its share of an undesirable local crowd that will make most feel a wee bit uneasy but between those times it will be simple beauty. Quick access from and to route 50.

Sailwinds is a nice park with multiple playgrounds, which unfortunately have been modernized, a beach, a visitor center, a boardwalk leading to the old bridge that is now used for fishing, and a dock where a ship can be found every few years.

Its a really awesome playground right along the Choptank River. You can dip your feet in the water along the riverbank, play with your kids on the playground equipment, go inside and look at the waterfowl displays, or eat a picnic at one of the tables in the shade.
