We had the pleasure of having our wedding reception this October at Caberfae, and we could not be happier with our experience. Jessica and her staff did a fantastic job and our event went on without a hitch, things truly did run like clockwork. We have zero complaints from our entire party and would recommend your venue to anyone who is looking to host an event.Thank you so much to the team at Caberfae. The Carango’s

Years ago, we came here on our senior class trip. It was good to see Caberfae again. The hotel rooms were clean and spacious. The two table lamps kept the room dim.The beds were not so comfortable. The sound from other rooms and hallways carried. The 10 oclock check out time got us up and out to view the beautiful surrounding vistas.

Golf Course Review!Caberfae Golf Course is a 9 hole course situated at the ski resort. Its very spread out, and honestly, one of the most scenic courses youll find in the area. Firstly, my wife and I are casual golfers. Were not very good, but we love to golf. This course was simply too challenging for our abilities overall. To the point where it was not fun (that isnt the courses fault by any means). The fairways are absolutely incredible in terms of manicure. They were nearly as neat as most greens are on a course. The fairways are often narrow, with either thick, tall grass, trees, swamp or bogs, on either side. This course is punishing to those with a slice or hook. Its incredible, but so difficult for a casual golfer. The greens were on immaculate condition. Hole 2, 6, 7 are very very challenging holes. The price on a holiday is $26 a person with a cart. Its worth the price, but if you are casual, be prepared to face some frustration, and some lost balls, but, the scenery and course layout is something to really enjoy.

There are less than 40 rooms at this resort which is nice. However, having no elevator and having to climb to the third floor with luggage and a cooler is not convenient. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms. Had to call from my own cell phone to get WiFi password since I was not given it at check-in.

Caberfae is not the Ritz, its not Crystal Mountain - its a comfortable, up north lodge that is family friendly and comfortable. Know what youre getting and then just enjoy. They keep the pool warm and hot tub going for a warm up in the winter months. Kids enjoy it and can be pretty independent. Rooms are decently clean and comfortable. Things are casual and economical. You can bring your own crock pot for the day and plug in at the lodge. Makes things easy and affordable.

We had a great family trip here. The food options arent the healthiest but for a short stay it isnt the end of the world. We wished there was a fridge or microwave (or both) in the room but there is a microwave in the lobby and we put our items on the balcony to chill and hopefully not freeze. The grounds are beautiful and a great sight. The traffic on the hills depends on the day you are there. We went for Wed, Thursday, Friday and Friday was a whole different experience than the first 2 days. The pool and hot tub were something great to look forward to at the end of the day.The jump from the bunny hill to the easiest hills was too much for our beginner daughter, we had wished there was something easier for her to graduate to after the bunny hill, and before the current easiest hills.

We had our first outing here at Caberfae Peaks. It was highly recommend from a friend. We will be back. As others have stated, it is not the largest resort - but it is perfect for the family. We spent two nights and got one of sleep and ski packages. It was an unbelievable deal. The room we had was basic, but very clean. We were here to ski, not hangout in the room. They also have a pool and hot tub that were nice and warm. They also have a nice storage locker for your equipment so you dont have to take it to your room. If you stay at the hotel there is private parking behind the lodge. That was a plus. The ski slopes were well groomed and not too busy. They have a number for runs for all skill levels and back country, if you desire. We didnt make it to the south mountain, maybe next time.Make sure you rent your equipment and purchase lift tickets online. The rental equipment was ready when you arrived and you get a very nice discount. Enjoy!

Overall experience was sub-par for the $160+ we paid for the room. Cleanliness, location, and the outdoor pool/hot tub/fire pit area were great. Room appeared to have been updated cosmetically, but the beds are uncomfortable (and if youre going to have multiple beds to a room, make them queens), there was no fridge, microwave, or coffee maker available in the room. The bar/restaurant was closed the night of our stay (8/15/20) which is also annoying, since the only other place to get food is a gas station 5 miles west, or Cadillac 10 miles east. As there is a lack of selection for lodging in the area, I would think providing more for customers would be a benefit. Also, if youre going to provide a breakfast buffet in the morning, you should label on your sign that it isnt free...

Caberfae Peaks is such a nice place to Ski or Snowboard! I just came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it is a very nice and well maintained place. The Lodge area is super clean with wood furnishings and they even thought to have long countertops on each side of the building with a ton of outlets to put your crock pots(smart designing on their part). They have very nice bathrooms and are the most hygienic ski area I have ever been to! The Lift Workers were very kind and the slopes are sooo much fun to hit! Fun. If you want pow & willing to hike, u will get it here!! That was def the best part! Also a lot of tree runs & backcountry terrain. The main runs are narrow & connect in a lot of places, so I oddly felt the need to look up hill to avoid people, when they should be avoiding me but a minor thing. I still had a blast. I will say that the south side isnt always open though. It wasnt during my visit & its something I hear often. So, make sure u check, if thats important to you. VERY REASONABLE LIFT TICKETS!! I was shocked!!! They need to update, repair or tear down the old lodge & the hotel has bad reviews but I cant agree or disagree regarding the hotel. I Had fun.

Caberfae is somewhere i’ve been going to for years and i enjoy my stay here every time! all of the staff at this place is very nice and willing to work with you, i was at the hotel drinking and playing cards with a very large group of people around 11pm and they told us we were being too loud and couldn’t be upstairs (many people were trying to sleep at that time), so they let us take all the chairs and tables downstairs and let us hangout in a private room downstairs instead of ruining our fun. very nice and fun people. the hills are nicely groomed and fresh, wide variety of runs from beginner to expert, i never get bored on the slopes. only complaint about the hills is they get veryyy icy on saturday’s. the ski patrol/first aid is awesome here, i fell and there was someone next to me to help me up not even 2 minutes later. i wasn’t hurt or anything, but it was very nice they really care about you. also the ski rental guys are absolutely awesome!! the lodge is very cozy and a nice place to stop in and warm up without having to go back to your room. there’s a ton of room and so many tables and a cafeteria upstairs. food is pretty good, basic stuff like hot pretzels, soup, pizza, fries, etc. everyone talks about how good the fries are and they’re definitely somethin to remember. the pool and hot tub outside of the hotel was the highlight of my trip! the capacity was 12 but we had 27 people in there at one point!! the staff came out and didn’t mind at all. there’s also a restaurant/bar in the lobby, food and drinks are good but a bit pricey. they let us bring our drinks out to the hot tub which was awesome ! the rooms were very cozy and perfect size, only wish is for a bigger bathroom/shower area. also the hotel didn’t have an elevator! everyone has to lug all of their stuff up and down the stairs! that’s something that needs to change. besides that, caberfae peaks is the place to be.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff spent about 15 minutes on the phone while ignoring the the line of guests waiting. During the wait, several guests just ended up leaving without receiving service. The room contained furniture that was slightly outdated, but still comfortable/functional. The bathrooms were small, but once again functional. The beds were comfortable and there was a decent flat screen TV. The outdoor view and atmosphere is peaceful and naturally beautiful. While the website boasts about bonfires poolside, there was no way to light the wood near the firepit. It may be a better place to visit during the winter months, at least I hope so, because my stay was nothing to be excited about. The water in the shower was not cold but neither was it warm enough to be comfortable shower temperature, and I had it turned all the way hot. The TV channels, the only few available, were fuzzy and not a very good selection either. The wifi was not fast, like promised, but slow and choppy, the connection going in and out. It did ask for a connect code and I did not put one in, so that may have been the issue, although it connected irregardless. I would have put a code in if I would have been supplied with one upon check in, but I was not, and it was not posted anywhere in the room. The balcony was nice, as was the view. The bar and grill was closed but that was due to the Covid pandemic, so I wont blame the resort for that one. All in all, I could have went my entire life without ever staying at Caberfae and I wouldnt have missed out on anything too special. It was not worth the $116. I give it 2.5 stars out of 5.

We ordered our tickets online, and saved quite a bit. We paid 28.99 for a two day lift ticket, which is normally 39 a day. $78 down to 29! Deals to be had if you pay attention. So how about the actual place? It was gorgeous. The buildings are all extremely clean, and built clearly for skiers. Some ski resorts are stuck in decades past, cramped and inefficient. Some are redone, but redone as a nornal place, not for a ski place. For example, their main dining lodge has the top floor for eating, but the entire downstairs is lined with cubbies and power outlets. The stairs getting up there are large and porous, the safest for trudging qround in ski boots. Some people may ask why, but all that free space is great for holding gear or food, and those outlets are great for cooking in slow cookers, or even getting a charge (my three people had iphones and they all died). Even the food wasnt crazy in price, a large salted pretzel (woah, mega salt! Perfect!) was only $2. Not bad at all, and nowhere near the giant mega resort prices, which usually ring in like arenas and sporting events. In our time, we met several of their staff. A young man at food services was very helpful in checking ingredients for me, the Ski Shop women were friendly and helpful, and the lift attendants were almost all great. The second day there, groups of school children were on the green hills and werent paying attention. Understandably frustrating, but he was polite to us. My only criticism would be to get everyone name badges! So how about the slopes? I often forget that there are skiers who dont push themselves much. They stick to gentle declines and thats that. So they have some 30 plus runs, over two peaks. There is the North peak which has all of the green and blue runs. We experienced a pretty good balance of skiers staying where they should be. People not clumsily falling down a blue- nice to see. If you want to step your game up, you head over to the South peak. These were all black diamonds (or double diamonds), and were just fantastic. Runs were long, varied terrain, great powder, and plenty of little break offs and tight wooded portions to jump into if you cared to.I know they say a jack of all trades is a master of none, but Caberfae was great at catering to all levels of skiers. It was the perfect place to get down on one knee, and propose to my now fiance. Caberfae, thank you for an amazing ski trip on every level.

We were there for a wedding this past weekend. The Blackmer Lodge experience, staff, and food was amazing; the Mackenzie Lodge staff and accommodations - not so much. The wedding room booking process was confusing and pricing was NOT made clear to guests and perhaps even the bride and groom. A group of rooms were blocked and quickly sold out. Then (we think?) another block was opened, but were not sure. Then, 2-3 days before rooms available to the public became available for $50 LESS than our wedding rate! In essence, we ended up paying $50 more for the same rooms when we could have sat on our hands and waited. Granted, the convenience and security of booking early was appreciated, but not for a $50 premium. Regarding the rooms... I think ours had been upgraded, but theyre nothing to write home about. Very basic and dated in many ways, but hey, someone put up the money to refurbish Caberfae and try to bring it back to life, so you gotta give whomever that is some credit to put some money on the line to spruce up the place. But the booking process etc. (and the front desk staff) could use a revamp and reassessment as well.

As far as the ski resort and runs go, I think they are fine for mid/upper Michigan offerings for the price point. This is where I first learned to ski over a decade ago. I would rate the skiing and amenities as 4 stars for what they are.The reason for the lower rating is because of an experience I just had in which my son, 4yrs old and skiing for the..very...first...time., was told by the operator of the magic carpet surface lift that he was being annoying for pretending to be and quacking like a duck while he waddled around on his skis on the bunny hill. Back country area is fun but you’ll have to hoof it a bit. Voted #2 French fries in southern peninsula and that includes all resteraunts too. Large fry will feed three people. Great chili. Watch for food combo specials. South peak is best skiing.

Not being a skier myself but tagging along to hike, this place rocks. The lodge is probably the most visitor friendly lodge anywhere around. The ability to bring crockpots and have endless storage makes it stress free to bring our own lunch

Caberfae is my favorite ski spot. Its the only place Ive been to that has open cubbies and are cool with you bringing crock pots. Very chill place with awesome skiing! We go here multiple times every year :)

The slopes are very well maintained, the runs are long, and staff overall is friendly. The resort is older which isnt problem, just is nice to know ahead time. The only thing that i would change would be lodge food prices. Seems just little steep for the type of food you get, but is very filling. There also accomadations for bringing your own food which many people seem to do as well. All in all a very great experience and hopefully will be back next year.

Great place to ski/snowboard! Nice area inside with picnic tables to eat and a big fireplace. And outlets to plug in crockpots.

Caberfae is quite nice; its good for intermediate-to-advanced skiers and riders. Its down-to-earth and well worth the money; one the best deals in Michigan skiing for sure. They have a new triple lift this year, but also removed a double which is congesting one part of the mountain. You can bring a crock-pot and picnic in the lodge, too.

When booking it did not say that there was no elevator and only 2 and 3rd floor rooms. Room was stained and and furniture in bad shape. Restaurant on premise only served one option for dinner....cold precooked hamburgers that were disgusting. No phone in room, spotty wifi. No standard amenities in room. No smoke detectors or fire suppression in room. Door had ome in gap that let in ligjt around all the edges all night. Doors had key locks and only a thin chain to secure from the inside. Did not feel safe.
