Beautiful nature what can I say. I was just sad that the cave itself was closed because of the sick bats that I hope they get better soon so I can visit again and take awesome cave pictures.

Probably my favorite hiking place in SE Iowa. The stream is great for wading, and the nature center is informative.

This place is awesome. They have 3 caves for you to explore. 1 has been closed since 2010 but the other 2 are great. One is more of an overhang and one is a small cave. There is a bit of climbing involved to get to them both.

Nice walking area, paths are paved and bridge is a nice viewing area of the water. Water was high still so not quite as pretty as usual. Great wading area in summer. We saw three deer and enjoyed the walk.

Great place to hike, the have an upper and lower trail, if the creeks low you can cross on the rocks to get to both sides.

This is a beautiful and moderately hilly place to run, especially after the Flint River Trail extension (minus to 2 flimsy small foot-bridges near HWY 61) and it is a nice place to take nature photos. The place is mostly litter/weed baggie free and the water running through the creek is quite clear except after periods of heavy rainfall. This place is especially pleasant during fall when the leaves change. The wildlife I have seen here would include grey squirrels, chipmunks, many small birds, birds of prey, herons, turkeys, owls, whitetail deer, and American soft shell turtles.Something I have a major problem with is the No Weapons Sign (Feels Good, Does Pretty Much Nothing). Why a govt owned park has the option to discriminate against lawful citizens carrying defensive weapons is BS to me. Whoever decided that rule should be in place at Starrs Cave has a childs level of understanding of violent criminals.

Starrs Cave is a peaceful retreat in the Burlington area. Nice paved hiking trails and all sorts of wildflowers. It is a special cave that has been closed to help the resident bat population. The nature center is geared to families with children. A beautiful blurred stream/creek that you can exlore.

For this area, this ranks pretty far up there. A new trail just opened up. The trails are kept clean and cleared. There are one or two steep places if you want a nice cardio experience, but there’s a few flat paved trails close to the welcome center if you want a nice easy stroll. The bathrooms inside the center are super clean. Dogs on a leash are welcome!

We walked on the paved section from 61 up to the sand trail. Its still too wet, but the paved part was great. Itd be perfect for bikes, if youre content with a short ride.

Hometown beauty. Its not the largest park in the state but the upkept trails and large sheer bluffs are gorgeous, especially for iowa. Great place for an afternoon walk by yourself, with the family, or maybe a romantic quiet stroll with a special someone. The cave is closed and may remain closed indefinitely in order to preserve the native bat habitat which is susceptible to white nose disease.Still starrs cave park is a lovely place to spend an afternoon.
