This was a very nice battlefield to visit.it is often contested as to whether it was the first real battle of the Revolutionary War. However, most scholars see this battlefield distinct from the Revolutionary War.

This is a very underrated yet important historical site. The Visitor Center is small, but it houses the very interesting 20 min video on the events leading up to the battle. The docent/lady, gave just my wife and I, a custom tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about the entire history of all that was discussed. The deciding factor in the battle was the cannons Gov. Tryon had on his side. The size used are fully on display in the Center and outside. The Allen house is also very interesting.

I really love checking out the lower ratings first and the mindless people that give 1 or 2 stars to places like this and say nothing or not much to see. i wouldnt care if there was just a plaque here. it was were the first battle of the revolutionary war took place. thats all i need to know. take a look at the battlefield. i couldnt image what it must of been like fighting that close. to me the rest of the site is a bonus.

Now this place was cool. Its one of those side-of-the-road museums that I always mean to stop by but never do. I finally made it and it was well worth the time. This location is centered around a battle that took place before the Revolutionary War between the colonial governor and the local regulators. I had no idea and it was something cool to learn about. The physical place was well maintained and laid out with a few different walking trails that will take you past the different areas of the small battlefield. Lots of historical tidbits and things to learn about the place. Also of note were the staff members that were there. Not only were they kind but they seemed really excited to share the history of the place. Of course this is their job but I gotta believe it gets old having the same questions asked over and over and over. But they were great and if youre thinking about stopping, its worth the 30 minutes to learn a few new things.

I Stopped by here after giving someone a very long Uber ride from Norfolk, Va. I liked some of the history of it compared to other battlefields. I also enjoy the fact that they had a fully stocked cabin. Most of the time you walk into a cabin like that, they have a glass partition. This did not.

We are local to the area so we often drop in for the reenactment events held several times a year at the Battleground. Most recently I visited with my teenage son and friend. We are always so impressed with the knowledgeable living history demonstrations. This time we visited with a gentleman baking bread in a homemade clay beehive oven, a blacksmith using Revolutionary War period methods on a portable forge, and someone who mixed paints and told us about that trade during the 18th century. In the past weve heard about the colonial medicinal and surgical trade, seen open fire cooking demonstrations and had an excellent tour of the house that is on site. You never really know who will be there; its different every time. Lots of opportunity to ask questions and lots to see, touch and do. Something for all ages!

I loved it and so did my 5 year old son too. He told me he could see them in the battle on the battle field. We watched the movie 1st and I read the markers to him so he would know what went on here and I think that is why he said that. I do not think he can see dead people lol. We also enjoyed the tails on the back part of the battle field.

You would never know what happened here just driving by the few cleared areas on both sides of a country road in Alamance County.
