What a fantastic resort. We enjoyed a few days of relaxing in Early June. The property has a amazing stream and pond that are host to the world famous duck races. Kids of all ages love that! A great beach to enjoy the lake and toys. The lake warms up quick too! Our cabin was front row with a great view of the lake. This resort is open all year for Summer and Winter fun in the Brainerd area. 5 Golf courses with in 2 miles of the resort. The Kavanaughs are great hosts.

Kavanaugh’s Sylvan Lake resort was the perfect place for our family vacation! The two units we stayed in were spacious and clean! The resort had so many wonderful amenities… And they took great precautions for safety. Many more safety precautions then I even imagined we’re possible! We highly recommend this resort for a safe family vacation this summer and beyond!

Beautiful well maintained resort. Friendly staff, they were very helpful. Was nice to have 2 pools and a lake for swimming. The grounds are well kept and beautifully landscaped. My family had an absolute blast and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic family resort, we all agreed this is our favorite and will be coming back next year. Me and my family stayed here for the July 4th weekend, and had so much fun. This place is perfect for an in-between resort and cabin setting. So many amenities: 2 lakefront swim areas, a decently sized outdoor pool that goes about 4’6” (a guess I don’t remember) although it does go deeper in the middle and shallower in both ends which really threw me off. Indoor pool (pretty small) and hot tub, small fitness center, tiny arcade but has a pool table, little store for necessities, free playaks (small kayaks), paddle boards kayaks and boats for rent, basketball court, tennis court, sand volleyball, loungers on the beaches... yeah they have pretty much everything. Rental/doc people were super helpful and friendly! We loved our room/half house and small deck with the lake view which was great to wake up to. Easy check in and check out. Overall had an amazing stay and would HIGHLY recommend this for people who want the cabin feel with the resort amenities.

Amazing place, quiet cool and positive atmosphere.

This is a super chill relaxing resort to vacation. You can rent pontoon boats, small fishing boats, paddle boards, and bicycles. They have free kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, row boats, tennis courts, basketball court with all the balls, lifejackets and about everything else you may need. They have tons of lake access right in front of most of the cabins, a indoor and outdoor pool. The owners are super friendly and are often seen hosting different events throughout the week like the rubber ducky races which is a blast and a cookout. The cabins are very nice, clean and updated. We will definitely be coming back again.

We come here every summer as a family and absolutely love it. The grounds are very well-kept, and the beaches and pools are very clean. The staff have always been friendly and are willing to help out in any way they can. Oh yeah, and they have rubber ducky races every Monday! This is seriously an amazing resort run by amazing people.

My family goes here every year, it is our favorite tradition. The lake is absolutely beautiful and the perfect lake to ski, tube, and swim in. There are many activities inside the resort such as duck races, hot dog cookoits, beach locations, parks for young children, and a well kept indoor and outdoor pool. Best vacation homes ever, highly recommend.

Cottages are very basic in comfort, decor and amenities. The highlight though is the lake and all the activities possible - swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding and paddle-boating. There is a pontoon and motor boats available for rent. Free kayaks are fun to borrow anytime and go around the lake. We had a wonderful time in the water. There are walking paths, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a hot tub which we didnt spend a lot of time in but provide other things to do. A very pleasant place for a relaxing weekend with the family.

We just re-started our family tradition of coming to Kavanaughs. We love most everything about being here, especially when we get to talk about all the memories we have made & continuing with new generations. It’s a shame the staff are so unfriendly, especially to a family that has spent a lot of money here over the years. It would be a good idea to hire staff who are personable and good with kids.

Fantastic location for a family reunion at the lake.

Great place to get away for a while. It is very picturesque, with many nice vistas and cozy, well-furnished cabins for rental. They are relatively inexpensive if you go during off season. There is a club house with an outdoor pool and an indoor pool, plus the kind of pool you play with sticks and balls! There is even a modest selection of arcade games. It is quiet and conducive to reflection and nature watching.

I love Kavanaugh’s and would recommend it to anyone in Minnesota looking for a resort to stay in for a while. But, I just wanted to say to any staff from there that may be reading this, please get better wifi. The connection is very slow and only works in some places.

Cant say enough great things about Kavanaughs. This was our first year and we absolutely loved it! They have everything you want for activities and the grounds, as well as the lodging are very well kept. A wonderful, laid-back atmosphere along with a beautiful lake perfect for swimming and fishing, left us wanting little. Already talking about next year!

Amazing Resort...so clean and the facilities are second to none. The Kavanaugh Family is beyond accommodating and very great to work with. If you have not stayed there, you need to experience what this place has to offer and I promise you will not be disaapointed.

Kavanaughs is a resort in Brainard, MN where you can rent out cabins of different sizes for overnight stay. Kavanaughs is on Lake Sylvan which is the clearest lake I know of! Kavanaughs has an indoor and outdoor pool and a large indoor hot tub. You can rent pontoons and fishing boats, kayaks, paddle boats, stand up paddle boards and more! There are 2 beaches with swimming access, docks to jump off and floating islands and more. Theres a sand volleyball court, tennis and basketball court, all with balls to play with. Kavanaughs cabins are privately owned, maintained by the original Kavanaughs family. Many cabins are still for sale. The grounds and facilities are well maintained. Id go no where else for a quiet week relaxing and playing with family in MN!

I sent a request for a tax deductible donation for a fundraiser for my sister in law who was recently diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast and liver cancer. Any donation towards our silent auction would have been greatly appreciated. Instead, I received a 2 sentence response that they were unable to donate anything at this time. This despite other Brainerd-area resorts (direct competitors) donating stay and play packages and other lodging donations. Those competitors will receive my continued business.

Been coming to Kavanaughs for over 20 years. First as a kid and now with my kids. We love the pool, duck races, playgrounds and super clean lake/beach.

I have stayed here so many times over the years with my family that we are regulars. Very relaxing place with lots to do. Terrific beach areas and great indoor pool. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Quiet, peaceful place. We stayed in a cabin close to the lake. Available boats to rent and a lake swimming area. Also both an indoor and outdoor pool are available with a small gaming area with a few arcade style systems. For the outdoors person, rentable bikes, a tennis court, enclosed basketball court, walking and biking trails. Close enough to other resorts for 4 to 5 star dining as well as close to town to get the fixings for your own cooking if desired.

Kavanaughs is a blast! Every year when Summer comes around I find myself counting down the days until we get to visit again. Sylvan is one of the cleanest lakes I have ever been to, the owners are great, and they have rubber duck races! Come to Kavanaughs; you wont be disappointed.

We stayed as part of a larger party. They have been coming for a few years but this, personally, is my first time. The cottages are great. They are warm, cozy, and very quiet. The cottage is very accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful family atmosphere, move about and do whatever you want at your own pace. Family owned by people who care about the people who come to their resort. Tremendous options in the area for food, golf, fishing and family fun!!

Rented a house for the week. The house was immaculate. Family friendly resort with plenty to do. Wi-fi left something to be desired, but to be expected at a cabin on the lake. Other families we talked to had been coming for 20+ years.

Family oriented, accommodating & peaceful.

My husband and I were able to reserve two nights at very short notice midweek on business. What a great place to return after an exhausting work day! It was so quiet, we often felt that we were the only folks there. (Later heard kids in the outdoor pool).We had stopped at Von Hansens and Moreys in Brainerd for steaks one evening and walleye the next grilling them on our back patio. Units had dishes, pans, even wine glasses-- everything we needed for dinner and breakfast each morning. We used the outdoor pool and indoor exercise room. Next time we will reserve one of the many bikes for a gorgeous ride AND a boat for fishing.This was our second time at Kavanaughs and we will return again!

Stated in one of the condos. Nice accommodations. We stayed in the winter so did not get to use many amenities. Will come back in the summer.

Traveled here during the summer with a family thats made an annual tradition of coming here for 30+ years. Wonderful accommodations with a blue of outdoor activity choices. Bikes, swimming, kayaks, paddle boarding, basketball, tennis, etc.

Beautiful grounds including beach, pools, courts, fields and the newer lodging options. Even the older options are nice and clean, if a bit dated.

Good fishing spot

Great for families! Giod fishing, sailing boating, swimming from beaches, or ising indoor or outdoor pools and hot tub. Great hiking and biking and walking trails and campfire sites. Fun duck races and hot dog gatherings. Golfing attached. Wonderful areas outside for families to play volleyball, frisby bean bag toss or climbing structures. Our family makes our reservations as we leave this year, for next year.....eleven years and counting. We love Kavanaughs Resort and their great family that keep it Kavanaughs!

Our stay was perfect, very comfortable and relaxing. Would definitely stay again!

My wifes family has been coming to Kavanaughs since forever. Its a great spot to visit with family. Right on the lake (with canoes, paddleboats, kayaks, etc), plus an indoor pool and hot tub. Lots of fun stuff nearby too (golf, biking, ATV). Close to Brainerd/Baxter for supplies. Friendly staff to boot!

Camp Confidence @ Kavanaughs was a beautiful lake and countryside. The campers loved it and we swam for three straight days.
