I was only passing by on my bike so only visited for about 15 minutes. I Love trains when I lived in Hawaii I worked on a steam train for 9 years so it was a must visit for me. This place was clean the people there were nice and if you love trains I would definitely go to this museum its really cool you can go inside you can pay to take train rides like I said I was just stopping by for the memories and some quick photos but I will be back with my kids.

A great place to stop and let our kids stretch their legs out. They love trains so being able to walk right along them and see their actual size was eye-opening to our 3 year olds. The employees were amazing at giving us info on the different cars and engines, taking time check in on us while they were moving some cars around. The highlight was definitely when one of the employees heard our kids talking about wanting to ride on one. They only do the rides on weekends but he was kind enough to allow us into the engine and let the girls pull the air horn. The look of sheer excitement and joy on their face was priceless and more than we could have asked for. Thank you to all the employees for making a great visit into a special memory for us!

Very interesting site. Had the Gratitude Car which I never knew about. Thanking each country for their contribution to WWII. Also we had our nephews with us who are very knowledgeable about trains and could explain different workings of the engines etc. Unfortunately the museum was mostly closed but a gentleman who worked there came by and also explained a few things too. Definitely recommend seeing!

This was a lot more fun than I expected. We arrived just in time to catch the last train ride of the day. Im from Chicago and ride the train every day to work. Yet this was a completely different experience.... got to see old non updated cars and sat in an open train car (which Chicago weather could never handle). Train went slowly down the 4 mile track, stopped, and went back. Interesting to see the mountains from this perspective and learn from the knowledgeable conductor (who is amazing with kids by the way). After, we wandered through the train exhibits. It said museum on the website, but really its a bunch of old train cars parked in one spot, and you can go in some of them. It was fun to see the old mail car and a real luxury travel train, reminiscent of Murder on the Orient Express. Husband loved it and chatted with the museums members who were all very friendly. Thanks for the experience!

The trains on display here were very cool! So much history. However, it is the volunteers that make this place so great! I had a 10 minute conversation with the gentlemen inside the one coach about the history of the train and the owners. It was awesome! Then I took the 35 minute train ride from the station. It was a nice, calm ride with some nice scenery. Would definitely visit again!

Great time. Friendly staff that are very passionate about trains. If you are going to ride make sure you are ready for a little bit of exercise. The last leg uphill cam be a bit changing but was worth it. If you have a toddler the have seatbelts for them. We went and it was a bit cold but once we started pedaling we warmed up. If you love trains they have a volunteer program. Use the restroom before you leave the station and pack a lunch to enjoy a picnic at the end.

Favorite part was checking out the older locomotives that were on display, nothing like being able to go inside them and look around. Very impressed by the huge toy train set up, to see multiple trains running through the village at once.I do wish that the train ride went longer, it wasnt scenic or anything, felt like we went half way before going back the way we came.Definitely will be back again next time Im in the area #DFMI

My 7yr old really liked our little trip here. Theres 3 train cars to choose seating from, so dont just settle for the first one.. We choose the back because it was quieter. The model train car display is pretty small (and warm), but my son liked it still. And last was the small stream rider train, highly recommended this one. Its free and run by retirees but it does deserve a tip if you carry cash, a fun little ride and was our favorite part.

We did the latern tour. My husband and I and our kids. We came prepared for the wind and cold. We brought stuff for a picnic, as it was advertised. Trusting that it was as advertised that is.It was not.We rode the quad about 20 minutes and that was a lot of fun.But then we were given no further instruction, so we picnicked with the food we brought(at this point were 25 minutes in and thats what was advertise, right?) About 10 minutes goes by the train had arrived about 5 minutes before and they rang the horn, which we assumed was to leave.... But were also confused as it was only about 6:40. So we quickly cleaned up our stuff and headed to the train. We were told they waited 10 minutes for us, but that was okay...? Really confused at this point. There was no actual tour, it was simply a 20 minute ride on a quad, wait 10 minutes then board the train and get a 10 minute ride back to your car. Not worth the $153 we spent. Not worth the 40 minutes drive there and 40 back. The 90 minute experience was actually no more than 50. Please save your $$ . Both my husband and I left feeling very foolish on a very expensive tourist trap. Lesson learned, I guess.
