It was interesting, informative and worth seeingIt isnt large, but it is in historical district so there is more to see and do
A wonderful museum on the building of the dam located in a beautifully restored hotel. An incredible look into the hardships of the depression and the lives of the families who came to the area for a job.
No diversity. The gift shops were closed. The staff was not welcoming. Definitely a waste of time. Very unpleasant. Will not suggest people to come here.
Beautiful cozy atmosphere. Museum tells you how important this dam means and how much this dam means to this world and society. They contribute us so much even till this date. Without this dam there wound not be any electricity or civilization like we have. There’s some art exhibition and all free. It makes you feel at home. You can visit this museum on the way to actual Hoover dam if you are on the way home in AZ from Vegas.
Excellent place to visit, alots of history and things to learn
When you think of Boulder City, the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, Hoover Dam. The 2nd is the Boulder City Museum and Historic Hotel. An absolute treasure and landmark that anchors the historic district of Boulder City.Free museum, a great restaurant, knowledgeable and friendly staff along with a lobby that whisks you back in time with its captivating and inviting layout. Its always a great place to relax between stops while touring this historic town.
A free museum tucked into a historic hotel. Not far from Hoover Dam, this place is a must. While Hoover Dam only touched briefly on the lives and sacrifices of the people who made the achievement possible, this museum brings their lives to life in an [UNREDACTED] manner. Seriously, I felt the emotion of the dam and place through the experience this free museum created. Come here!
Small but FREE and very informative museum. It is worth checking it out and learning more about the construction of the Hoover Dam and Boulder city.
Nice museum tucked away in the back of a beautiful historic hotel. Great place to learn about the history of not only the Hoover dam but the surround area as well. Well worth a visit !
Fantastic hotel with an amazing restaurant. Friend s got married here we had a suit and the room was great. I will definitely stay here over downtown Vegas anyday.
Great little museum for the town that built the dam !
A must stop and stay. History lives....
Nicely done museum on the way to the dam. Not a waste of time.
The most beautifully kept and restored historic hotel. I used to go to all the Hollywood memorabilia shops in here weekly. They had the best vintage jewelry and interesting collection of little stores selling old Hollywood glam lingerie. Sadly that was 20 year ago and this weekend I went to find just 1 thing open inside and thats the hoover dam museum. The museum is nice and interactive which is great for kids. The boulder city historic hotel will always have a special place in my heart. Its still worth checking out, sign the ledger and donate few dollars to help keep the hotel alive.
This museum has everything u need to learn about Hoover dam history. It is free inside historic hotel that has only 21 rooms.
Museum cool but restaurant was slow and my food overcooked.
Very well done and interesting
Very informational and fun for the family
Everything we did, well, it was so much fun.
After moving away 20 years ago and coming back to show our children where we grew up , my husband and I were so happy to see how well this hotel is being cared for. It was in very poor condition in the 90s. The mini Museum about the construction of the dam is a lot of fun. Definitely worth the stop if you are traveling from Las Vegas to see the dam
A nice little Museum located in Boulder City with a lot of history pertaining to the Hoover Dam. I must-see while visiting the Hoover Dam. The museum also has a spectacular gift shop with great pricing.
Great little place
Good place to take your kids to learn about Nevadas history on how the dam was built.
Really enjoyed the history. Recommend to anyone visiting the dam.
A tribute to the workers who built Hoover Dam after the big depression. We expend hours knowing this part of American history
Good information that I didnt hear at the Dam itself. You should go here if you go to the Dam too
What an informative, engaging place! The hotel looks like a lovely spot to stay. Would recommend. The guestbook is signed from visitors all over the world!
Very historic local landmark with hotel, restaurant, gift shop, and very interesting museum featuring history of Hoover Dam. Located in the heart of historic downtown area.
Small museum inside a very historic building. Not a lot to see but enjoyed the video about building the dam. Fascinating history!
We enjoyed the ice cream here.
We loved this little museum. They made very good use of the space they have and even kept my 5yo interested while we read about the histories.
Interesting experience. This museum displays a lot of the local history of this area and city. Self guided tour. And, even better, since its also a hotel u can see it anytime 24/7. This is an attraction definitely worth seeing if you find yourself nearby.
It was very informative
Great service..excellent food..reasonable prices..check out the museum while you are there!
Great historic building. Food is excellent as well.
I cant believe that this museum is free! This actually tells you more than the exhibitions at the dam. Much more informative and historic from inception thru to completion and beyond. Truly great place, do NOT miss it!!
It seemed kind of basic at first glance but it was well worth it. I have lived here 34 years and toured the dam pre 9/11 so it takes a lot to impress me. There are photos I have never seen and a lot if info on how the wives and children lived. Great place to spend an hour for free!
Very informative museum. Clean restrooms and very wheelchair friendly. The whole Hoover Dam experience was amazing, would return
Quaint and lovely museum. It is a small exhibit but very well made. The museum is interactive and engaging for all ages..
This is a great little hidden museum! I learned a lot about Boulder City that you cant learn at any other Southern Nevada museums. They have these great sound cones that play excerpts from diaries and oral histories. Its interactive for kids--good for families.
Guess others might find this interesting but it was a waste of time for me.
A local gem. Lots of great historical information. Very enjoyable.
Lovely older colonial style hotel with comfortable simple rooms in a historically significant area of Nevada. Flat screens, most channels, quiet programmable in-wall Japanese-made a/c units... Nice fireplace sitting area. Good selection of breakfast choices. Museum on-site. 100 meters to restaurants, coffee and curio shops. Free parking (shady until 10 am in summer). Staff polite and helpful. Only 20 min easy drive at any time of the day to the LV strip. 10 min to Hoover Dam site. Most stores and facilities close by 9-10 pm, so eat in Vegas before returning late. Charming and highly recommended.
Small but very interesting
Since I am from a railroad town where both of my grandfathers worked for the Pennsylvania railroad and one was an engineer, I loved it.Also loved the Boulder City Hotel.
If you are visiting to see The Hoover Dam and Memorial Bridge definitely take the time to check out the town that built it. Inside Boulder City is The Historic Boulder Dam Hotel with a small but informative museum about the Hoover Dam. Priced so that you can bring the entire family.
This place is so good
A wonderful exhibit lovingly put together.
Thaicwas great learned alot
I really enjoyed visiting this place with my family. The Museum is a bit small but worth going to
Go and learn all about the Hoover Dam. Its free and then you can have a great breakfast or lunch right downstairs.
Great place. Good food
Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere.
There is a nice museum, Boulder city is a beautiful place to visit. Excellent restaurants, friendly people and a lot of history!
Just a amazing place full of pure beauty
True history. Well done.
Small, intimate museum depicting the life and time of the workers, who the built the remarkable Hoover Dam. The quotes and descriptions of their tiny houses, built specifically for them, was my favorite, i.e., If you sneezed, youre house would fall down. A quality, quick place to bring the family. An adorable gift shop, as well, rounds out this Museum.
Its free! Worth a visit to get insight on the history of the dam and town. Its small and a bit interactive.
I love goint to this place, and the town is just so cute! If youre going to see the Hoover Dam then you have to come see this place too!
Looks fun. We couldnt stay long
Very, very well done laced with important history
Food was comfort type food and good enough but the service was horribly slow. Once we got our food, no one came to our table to refill drinks or check on us. I had to go ask for my bill!
This hotel and museum is the place to be seen, and for casual dining in its rustic restaurant and lounge. It is historically significant nationally, and forever tied to Hoover Dam. Close to old town antique shops, its a great place for rest and recreation away from the Las Vegas strip. Suggest overnight or weekend stay at the hotel. Highly recommended.
We Loved it very nice and clean
Good home cooking... Good service... Would go back
Very small yet informative museum located in a historic hotel in Boulder City. Worth visiting!
Nice little museum. Visit it.
It was gorgeous ... a place to visit
Real need to see and right down town
Nice little museum. Very, very informative. Well worth the admission
Nice little museum telling the story of Hoover dam.
Small but fun and the people are friendly
Very nice place. And its free.
Very informative. Worth the time.
Nice little respite on the bus tour to Hoover Dam.
This is a small museum in the old Boulder City Hotel. I was impressed with the movie showing the building of Hoover Dam. The displays were wonderful & very informative. Its free, accepts donations & definitely worthy of your time.
This is a nice little museum for the price. It also goes over some of history about who constructed the dam.
Fantastic place, historic, great museum to see in the rear about the damn construction.
Great place to visit and learn the history
Lived here 30 years did not realize this exhibit existed. A must-see
Very informative about Hoover Dam, Originally named the Boulder City Dam. The many tons of concrete is mind-boggling. They have a free movie that shows how dangerous it was working there.
Great place to learn
Wonderful place, the quiche Lorraine was fantastic!!!
Fun Museum and my and my friends had a great time.
Fantastic little gem in Boulder City.
A surprising lack of boulders.
Good guide but had a different price for everything.
Beautiful gum wood trim.
Very nice display!
For $2 this is an educational and interesting way to spend an hour.
This is not the museum at the dam. This is a very small museum at the back of the Boulder dam hotel. That said, it was fun and informative and very cheap ($2).
Very informative
The museum was great. I learned alot about Hoover Dam.
Very nice!!
Nice and informative
