We loved it!! A great way to see Boston in a day. The drivers kept it entertaining the whole time, and we learned a lot! There’s a parking garage right near stop 13, Boston commons parking garage. We didn’t have to walk much at all. We thought we’d get off the trolley more than we did, but we saw so much on the ride we didn’t feel the need! Well worth it.

We took the one day tour of Boston and thought the experience was great. Getting on and off we got to ride with several different guides and all were knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. We also did the add-on harbor cruise which I highly recommend, it was well worth the small additional cost.

The service would’ve been much better if they had not falsely advertised. The majority of the locations they took us to were closed, due to the simple fact that it was a Monday. Furthermore, most of the tour guides did not inform anyone when they would get off the trolley that the sites at that stop were closed. On top of that, often you would have to wait for a trolley, instead of being able to enjoy whatever area you were in.....just to find out that the trolley was full. The you’d have to practically run to another stop in order to find a seat. The service was SIGNIFICANTLY too expensive for its value. Wish I could get my money back. Would not recommend!

Awful experience with customer service........ Me and my girlfriend arrived at one of the trolley stops to see if we were able to bring our dog on the trolley after explaining to one of the drivers and one of the workers that sells the tickets that it was an emotional support dog and showing the papers to the two workers they said it was okay and we can bring her along so we purchased two tickets after we got the confirmation that we were good to go. We waited around for the next trolley to come around the driver told us that the dog couldnt go on and the emotional support card didnt mean anything and was being extremely rude after we explained the situation ontop of all that she said she was the manager her name is Sue. Then she told all of the trolley drivers to not let us on any of the trolleys and instructed the lady that told us it was okay to bring the dog on the trolley to refund our money which we are still trying to get back (its extremely difficult to get your money back)!!!! Would not recommend!!!

We liked having a live narrator (who was also the driver, a little concerned about safety in that respect) and being able to interact and ask questions. I think we had three different drivers over the course of the day. Each had their own style, of course. One spoke very clearly and loudly, which my husband appreciated, as he has a hearing impairment, and even with his hearing aides in, it was hard to understand some of the other drivers. Lots of historical information about the city. Not so much about the city now, but they were helpful in knowing what was open and what was not. The drivers looked out for the riders safety and frequently reminded riders of the mask law. They were mindful of not making strangers sit next to each other due to COVID-19.

We found a trolley stop but no prices were listed. We went to ask a driver about how it worked and he said just hop on and well take care of you at another stop. We were surprised about an hour & many stops later to find out it was $46 a person. We thought that seemed a little bit expensive. He dropped us off at the end to pay. At that point we were given an out-of-date map. I mean the stops were the same but it said the deals that you would have got in 2018. It mentioned that we should have gotten about $50 worth of coupons so that we could have gotten off at stops and gone to museums at a discount or for free. We did not get any coupon books and we did not find out that it was an option until we already finished the day and paid and left and were looking at the map. I would do this again but I would strongly recommend starting at a stop where you can pay and getting all of the information up front. If you got on in the morning and got off at each stop and visited things you could spend an entire day doing this! It is a great deal of fun but a little more communication up front would have been helpful and actually getting what we were supposed to would have been terrific too.

My wife and I went for our anniversary trip. The Trolly tours were highly recommended. We bought tickets for the tour, but due to COVID-19, it wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. I called the support center and within days we received a full refund and received a voucher for a future tour in the mail today.I was absolutely shocked with the customer service we received. What a wonderful company. The limited time we did ride we had a blast and learned a lot about the city. The only issue we had was having to wait on busses because Covid-19 restrictions put in place by the city caused the tour to limit number of riders. If we ever go back we will absolutely do the tour again.

Nice way to see city... driver was very knowledgeable. If youre just wanting to see Bostons historic sites, you might want to walk the Freedom Trail. But to see more of Boston this is definitely a great way to go.The drivers were very knowledgeable, humorous and very polite. Each of them had some different additional knowledge than the other about the town, history and sites. This is a great way to get around town and let to most places you may want to go without the hassle of driving and parking yourself.Drivers were a great wealth of knowledge. You get your moneys worth if you get on and off. Parking in the city of Boston cost $30 plus. Drivers were highly entertaining. Stops throughout the city made touring Boston extremely easy and convenient. waiting time was not that much, even while waiting, you can admire beauty if this old town.We got a lot of tips on sites to see; and, places to visit. The trolley was basically a bus, with vinyl windows, which leaked cold air. But, we were fairly comfortable.Great tour. Recommended...

Wonderful way to explore Boston at your own pace. The tour itself lasts just a couple of hours if you stay on the bus but you may want to spread it over two days as there is just so much to see and lots of individual tours available at many of the stops. The same company runs the Boston tea Party tour which I would also highly recommend which at the time of writing was at stop 16.

Ive taken hop on hop off bus tours all across the world. What the customer wants is to get a feel of the best spots, some humour, unique facts and to decide where to get off and explore.OTT while generally good was to technical in their descriptions. Their accent difficult for Asians to follow and only a love commentary option. (No headphones). For a wider appeal do consider speakers who speak slowly, pitch the content based on the audience (I know which is vagrant) and have a headphones option. The map was unnecessarily commercial and for the first timer honestly bewildering. The key ingredient to all of these tours is the tour guide. Some are too much, some are not enough. Some too many personal notes, and some too many dry facts. But... they get you around to all the key spots on your own schedule because they are hop on, hop off. I love them!

Informative and interesting tour of Boston. There is so much to see that this trolley doesnt really take it all in. I wish it had gone by Fenway Park but only got near that. It is convenient that you can get on and off anytime you want at the designated stops. The real accolades should go to the person who drives the trolley because streets and Boston are very narrow and extremely difficult to navigate through. Boston has an odd mix of the really old and the new so its interesting to see one right by the other throughout the tour. Its a bit pricey at $86 for two people, but versus trying to drive thru Boston... a much better alternative..

Love the tour. Hopped off several times and walked to different stops or places nearby. Narration was great and included plenty of history and information with a joke now and again. Overall impressed. I dislike their mobile ticket though. I had no printer access so I utilized it, which involves keeping a browser tab open to display the ticket when you board. You cannot screenshot.. because you need a blinking arrow. Once, I couldn’t get the arrow to blink and was afraid I was going to be stranded, but thankfully they worked with me. Still five stars though, because it was that great overall. Worth it.

Just visited Boston for the first time and the Old Town Trolley Tour was brilliant! Its pretty much all you need as it stops at or close to most interesting and/or significant places around Boston.Weve had great tour guides, namely: Tyler, New York, Quint, Papa Jim, Uncle Steve and another one whos name I cant remember but I believe its very common in New England. My wife and I got on the first trolley and pretty much had our driver - Tyler - to ourselves, and even though it was early, cold and quiet, he was able to lift the mood with his narration. We did the entire route just to see where we would get off on the second round. In the afternoon we were lucky enough to have Tyler again for a few stops. All drivers were great, but you never forget your first ;-) Very informative and humorous. As on the second day my wife had to work, I went to see the sights myself and used the trolleys as a good way of getting from point A to point B (hence the many drivers I had the pleasure with). Can definitely recommend!EDIT: Regan was the other drivers name.

Amazing value if you are going to be traveling around Boston. The tour itself is extremely informative worth the initial price alone. You wait (at most 15 minutes), Ive used them twice 4 years ago and today and longest I waited was 5 minutes. Drivers and personnel are super informative and can help guide your visit if you are on the fence about certain destinations. You can combine this with other attractions to save even more money. (Currently they offer discounted admission to a number of locations and free entry into the Wax Museum and Old State House). Id recommend it for locals and visitors.

We had one day to explore Boston and all it had to offer, so we thought a hop-on hop-off tour would be the best way to really get a bang for our buck. Our tour guide was Gordie and he was so great that we actually didnt even get off the trolley because we loved his personality so much we didnt want to risk losing him as our tour guide. His presentation of history was clear and easy to follow, and we were flabbergasted that he was able to present history as thoroughly as he did whilst navigating the busy Boston traffic . We bought one-day passes online and took the subway to downtown Boston from Cambridge so we could get our tickets and start the tour at Stop #1. When we arrived there at 9:30 AM nobody was waiting for the trolley so we decided to tour the nearby sights. Big mistake! We returned to stop #1 around 10:30 to find a queue of about 30-40 people waiting for the next trolley. Unfortunately it was raining hard, so when a trolley finally showed up 15 minutes later, nobody wanted to disembark into the pouring rain. When it was obvious we couldnt board the trolley we decided to bail and head to the JFK Presidential Library via subway. The weather improved by mid-afternoon, but with only 2 hours left before the trolleys stopped running for the day, we feared not getting full value from our $89 tickets. I called Old Town and was very happy to hear the tickets are valid for one year from purchase date. (This isnt noted on the tickets or on the voucher.)The next day we decided to avoid a possible crowd at stop #1 and instead we went to stop #6 at 400 Main in Cambridge. We looked for a green & orange sign with a no. 6 emblazoned on it, but couldnt find one so I again called Old Town to ask where exactly do we catch the trolley. The nice lady told us to stand across the street from Legal Seafood. Later, after we were on the trolley, the driver pointed out that all of the stops are discreetly marked with an orange band wrapped around municipal traffic or parking signs. This important information needs to be printed on the ticket! If not for the issues that we encountered getting started on the tour, I would have awarded 5 stars.

This is one of my least favorite hop-on & hop-off tours, I‘ve done so far. For one, this is due to the fact that Boston is far more attractive by foot than by bus. And the tour is only available in English, because it’s narrated live. This isn’t a bad thing per se, but we had two drivers who were just plain lousy. Two things make this different from the usual hop on, hop off bus tours. The driver gives the commentary, with no language available except English. Or Bostonian, to be accurate, and didn’t always understand what one of them said. Another was better, with a few more personal insights. So if you don’t like one guy’s style, get off and try another trolley! One bad thing though - the plastic windows that drop down to keep out the cold and rain are all too knackered to take photos through.

Pros: Great way to see the city, and get some fun facts- Take the full loop which is 1 hour 45 minutes to get the full tour, then decide what stops you want to get off at. The drivers are extremely talented. They drive this massive bus in the crazy Boston traffic, on the narrow windy roads, while narrating the whole time. I dont know how they do it, and hope they get paid well. Thats all to say TIP your driver.Cons: We went on a Thursday, and the buses came about every 20 minutes. By the afternoon, the buses were so full, that people could not get on at the stops. A few of the stops, people were complaining they had been waiting an hour since three buses had gone by since they were full. This combined with the very very congested Boston traffic makes it difficult to get too many stops in during your day.TIP: One of our drivers kept recommending Lukes Lobster for a lobster roll. We found James Hook Lobster was sooo much better, so definitely check this place out.

Had a lot of fun! Papa Jim and J.D. were our tour guides. They were both very funny, friendly and knowledgeable. Some of my favorite stories and jokes were about the Great Boston Molassacre, the Hooker entrance, the gangster who was found when they looked for his girlfriend, the parking garage story, the corduroy building and how George Washington painted tree trunks to look like cannons! I learned a lot! Also, the seats are very comfortable and I appreciate how they are elevated. And the recordings about safety and the music are nice touches. I also really like the stickers! I am a tour guide in Chicago and this was the first thing that I did when I arrived in Boston, glad I got to experience this!

Review №66

The guides are great and what the tour goes to is really interesting but the fact that they don’t have an app that lets you track the location of the trolley and expected arrival times makes it much less useable. You can see it coming in the distance but it doesn’t wait long and there’s no way to tell the drivers in advance to expect people hopping on so they’ll wait more than 60 seconds. They tell you to call and they’ll figure out how far away it is. We did that and either missed it bc they were closer than we were told or waited for 20 mins longer than the expected arrival time. Much easier to hop off than hop on. We ended up walking a few times because it was faster than waiting an unknown amount of time. An app where you can track it live and see how many trolleys there are running & tell in advance who is getting on/off would make this 5 stars. It’s like 3.5 now but rounding up to 4 because of the guides.

Great tour when we could actually get on it. Very energetic, informed tour guide. Half of the stops were shut down the day we bought tickets.

You cant best live narration. Giovanni made this tour fun and educational as well. Excellent way to discover Boston on a rather short itinerary.

Great way to see lots of Boston, plus ticket includes discounts on other attractions. We got to see all the things on our list and more. Fun history/narration/info by the drivers.

The reviews are great, but I was extremely disappointed. They really oversold the tours so that you had to wait several trolleys for a pick-up. The longest we had to wait at a stop was 45 minutes, but from talking with other people on the trolley we were lucky. Once we got on the drives were good.i would definitely not recommend with kids due to the long waits.

Ms. Beantown was informative and very funny. She included everyone in her conversations and at the end of day she dropped us off right at our ship so we didn’t have to walk anymore. Anyone going on this tour hope you get Ms. Beantown. Excellent tour guide. MK&AR. NJ

Great price for value. Buying for multiple days even better. So much to see and do if you love history. If you get an annoying guide get off at the next stop and get on another trolley.
