Extremely interesting graveyard! It was established back in the 1600s! It’s surround by modern buildings of today, which makes it all the more intriguing to see. Don’t miss the beautifully made headstone at the very beginning!! The story of the gravestone is provided at the gravesite as well as the story of the Ice King! Super cool! Would definitely recommend for anyone who’s into walking through history!COVID safety rating: 10/10. It’s outside and it’s pretty spacious. When we went during the early afternoon, there were only a handful of people there. Everyone for the most part was wearing a mask.

A historical place on the freedom trail in Boston. Was there for two weeks building scaffolding around the outside of the church. The church is one of those locations in Boston that remind you of the past and stands out against all the modern buildings around the area.

A very well preserved, and very old, graveyard. It is really only worth a 20 or less minute visit, however the real history buffs will absolutely love to spend longer as a long list of famous early Bostonian families remains lie here. I consider it a must see, and it is free!

It was such a moving moment to walk through this cemetary; knowing it was established in the 1600s. Most of the engravings are so worn and impossible to read. It is important to keep this history alive.

One of the oldest burial grounds, if not the oldest burial grounds, in Boston. Quiet, full of history. Well kept up, free to tour. Donate $4 to the Kings Church next door, two different entities which share the same name. Tour the church too.

The Kings Chapel Burying Ground is the oldest cemetery in the city of Boston being founded in 1630. It is one of three cemeteries included on the Freedom Trail in Boston and can be conveniently visited along with the adjacent Kings Chapel church. Cemetery opening hours are 10-5pm daily. The cemetery area is quite small and youll find signage to help point out the location of headstones and markers for famous early American figures such as first Massachusetts governor John Winthrop and Mary Chilton, the first European female to set foot in the New England colony.Note the grounds are not in as good of condition compared to other Freedom Trail cemeteries, Old Granary and Copps Hill Burying Grounds. As such, it is important to stay on the designated walking path within the Kings Chapel Burying Ground and not walk upon the ground itself. You can see this attraction on the Freedom Trail quite comfortably in just 10-15 minutes then be on your way to other sightseeing endeavours in the area.
