COVID had it closed during my visit but the building and grounds were in excellent condition and a little majestic! Beautiful architecture and statue!

Just really had to go see the family museum! Old cousin and very close wanted that! Probably the reason we moved to Texas in the first place, as Sam had gone to DC and never really gone back. I was from DC and then my roots brought me back here! Great to see all his great works aligned in one beautiful place

This is a small, laid back museum that honors the man who served as Speaker of the House more years in the other, but not consecutively. It recalls a time when politics was a more honored profession and more civil. While it is clear the disagreements between the two parties were very evident, somehow they manage to be polite to each other. The best quote I saw from speaker Rayburn was I did not serve under presidents but with presidents. I think it would be most helpful for us to get back to a servant model of leadership which is what Mr. Rayburn exemplified. I greatly enjoyed this little museum. Full disclosure, my father knew Mr. Sam and his respect was evident.

They have the second largest congressional record library in the USA and you can read the library. They also have the rostrum that roosevelt used to declare war on japan.

The Sam Rayburn Library was the first library this side of the Mississippi River. Mr.Sams office is exactly as it was in Washington D.C. Many of the gifts given Mr. SAM are on display. The beautiful rose garden east of the Library is in memory of his late sister. The Sam Rayburn Library is a must see while on a visit to Bonham.
