Awesome location for a long walk or a short walk. There about 3-4 trails and you can choose long trails that go around the lake in the middle or do a nature walk through a short nature trail. This is a good getaway in Boca Raton and located in the Spanish river public library. You are definitely going to see different birds and lots of Iguanas.

What a great place to walk! Such natural beauty and everyone we passed by were just enjoying the nature. Lots of different types of birds, iguanas and plant life. Our boxer siblings loved it, as you can see.

Beautiful area to walk around, but beware of rude people on bicycles riding around the lake. They are not allowed on the inner trails, so youre good there. Especially if youre allergic to poison ivy, stay on the path.

Be sure to visit the Storywalk trail with your children! Its only .7 miles long. The Boca Raton Public Library, with the help of its sponsors, including the Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library, has installed posts featuring pages from a childrens book about nature - the current one isThe Bugliest Bug Paperback by Carol Diggory Shields - that you can read as you go.

Absolutely beautiful park! I honestly didnt expect it to be so different from other tropical parks in the area. Meandering concrete path is a very good quality and adds certain character and sharm to the place. Even pine trees smelled like pine trees! I want to go for a jog here and would definitely come back!

Nice little getaway in the middle of Boca Raton. Walking and hiking trail although not very adventurous. Trail is less than a mile, can still hear construction and traffic. Saw a bald eagle and lots of lizards. Walking trail is paved so easy for anyone. Hiking trail is sand so more of a challenge. Trails wind through scrub area, has lot of shade. Pets not allowed, seems to be the case in most of these natural areas. Was able to get my steps in by looping a few times. Parking was available but figuring out where parking was for this park was difficult. Entry seems to be a residential area until you figure out where to go. Overall got in some exercise and saw some FL scenery.

Very nice park. Wide pathways so its easy to share the path with people moving slower or in the opposite direction. Theres lots of birds etc around the water, and theres a side where dogs are allowed and then the other side where theyre not allowed so you a nice big area that works for whichever you need. Plenty of parking and clean bathrooms too.

Its a small bit of nature (natural Florida) tucked away next to the library on Spanish River in Boca. Theres a nature trail that is paved concrete. I would have preferred a natural trail. Its peaceful but busy (many locals walk or jog the concrete trail). Its probably wonderful at first light. A few old dead trees, which I have a soft spot for, are dotted throughout the woods.

Great natural area with concrete walkways around the lake. The walkways continue under Spanish River and connect with walkways around the larger lake at the park across the atreet. There are always plenty of birds (including ducks) and other animals as you walk, run or bike. Great place for families to get some exercise together.

Went here to shoot some pictures a few years back - after hiking in California I can say this place really shows what Florida can offer in terms of natural beauty and the merge of nature and photography. This isnt the best example of that but its definitely up there. Especially because of the opportunity for shade and rest in between.

This park is wonderful. About 1.5 miles of mostly unpaved trail (half shaded) that connects to a larger 2+ mile longer section of multi-use path. Regularly see osprey, gopher tortoises and rabbits. Pond area has wading birds and occasional gators. Feel like youre deep in nature without having to leave Boca.

Nice area to take a stroll in. However there is a viewing area over looking what is supposed to be a pond. The Pond has been dry for years. I am guessing over growth and poor construction allowed all the water to evaporate. I would have hope that this would have been corrected by now and the area would have been reconstructed to its glory day of when it first opened up. Its all good to open these place up but not to maintain an area is a complete shame.

I have been to so many natural areas lately looking for the right one for me and I have finally found it! Its Pondhawk Natural Area. I just wish I lived closer. This area provides the size that I need to get a work out in. Located behind the magnificent Spanish River Library and Community Center you cross a bridge to enter the natural area of Pondhawk. The area is divided into three walking/ jogging trails. The first area I explored to the right of the bridge was the natural scrub area. You cross over a small boardwalk into the area where there is a wide paved path that loops around the area. It looks pretty much like every other scrub area I have been in lately. There is a lookout pavilion that looks out onto basically nothing. The path is easy to traverse and impossible to get lost on.Once you leave the scrub area the path continues on the left around the lake. I really enjoyed the lake path. I saw so many wading birds diving for fish. I also met the friendliest pelican. He let me come so close to take his picture. I loved meeting him. On the back side of the lake path I met the friendliest black cat. The ear was notched so I knew it was fixed. I had so much fun petting my new friend. The cat was well fed so it looks like it is enjoying its life at Pondhawk guarding the path and greeting all the walkers and bikers. This trail lets out behind the Spanish River library.I had to cross the bridge again and this time turn left to reach the final path. You go down a paved path that takes you under the roadway and around another large lake. There are benches for sitting provided around both lakes. Again I saw an assortment of wading birds.Everyone in Boca seems to know about this place as I saw all kinds of people walking, running, biking, and inline skating. If you visit when the library is open you can use their restrooms and they even have a cafe inside the library if you want a snack or a drink. I didnt wear my exercise clothes the first day I came so I came back the next day properly dressed and with my daughter for company. Between all of the paths I got 5 miles in on my fitbit. The area is so beautiful. I highly recommend a visit.

Pondhawk was my favorite short trail while living in South Florida. Its a quick enough trail that you can do it after work in plenty of time. They offer 4 trails all under 1 mile each on virtually flat terrain. I recommend this trail to anyone looking for a quick hike.
