View is beautiful. However, there is trash everywhere. Smelled like urine and... Too bad people are leaning toward destroying this place rather than keeping it beautiful... Its their dystopia.

Awesome short hike to Chapparral Peak which is Oaktowns highest point.Picture perfect views of the City to Mt. Tam.

The view is great here but there are too many knuckleheads drinking and throwing their trash on the ground. It has made this area trashy looking. Watch out for drunk drivers and please dont litter.

A great overlook spot with views of the Bay Area, Berkeley, San Francisco and the Peninsula. Best on a clear day for the best western views across the Bay. Multiple lookout points along the road with similar views.

Great views. Had a lot of nice hiking trails. Recommend going to the top of the peak.

Be careful of the drop off from the paved road, it has some pretty deep holes that have the potential to do some serious suspension damage to a low sitting vehicle. Parking space seems to always be limited, as most dont seem to understand how to park and not take the space of two or more cars. That said, if you can find space the view is worth it!

This is awsome place to view entire SFO downtown along with bay bridge. You will be definitely surprise once you visit this place..

Crowded w no parking eveneft unless waiting for someone to leave. Finally was relaxing and saw a drunk driver hit a guard rail and end up in opposite traffic so please heed caution when visiting late at night!

Impeccable sunset views

We were up at the lookout and someone in a newer rav4 came 50 mph honking thier car and almost flew off the side of the mountain, Saved by the side barrier

Great views of the bay area. The Oakland Bridge and the golden gate bridge are visible for this view point pending on what time of day and how much fog is in the air. Best views are in the morning time.

Dynamic views of the Bay Area! Lots of good places to pull over to enjoy the scenery. Sometimes its super foggy in the morning and at night. Lots of curves and bicycle riders, be careful

Back road to Lake Ansa brings you to this overlook.....not awesome, but not bad.

A great place to relax and think about life..

An mediocre spot to see the view of San Francisco and Berkeley, which greatly depends on the presence or absence fog that typically settles around SF. A bench area has been carved out of a large tree trunk. Stinks of urine and theres a few empty liquor bottles scattered on the ground. Just a quick place to take pictures and then be on your way.

Beautiful view of San Francisco and Oakland. There is a giant log here that you can sit on and take pictures of. A very unique place in the Bay Area.

Love the view, and its been a cherished lookout spot at night for me for years!Please fix the pavement, should do a Star reduction for that, but Ill let it slide.

Probably one of the better viewpoints in the Berkeley area. The parking is limited and it gets crowded during sunsets so get there at least 30-40 min before!

Beautiful view, gives you overview of San Francisco city as well as the bay bridge and golden gate too. Most of the time you won’t be able to see the view due to the fog. You should go when the sun is up.

Beautiful views, but curvy hilly roads - dont try to enjoy the view and drive at the same time. Lots of cyclists on the road. Limited parking.

Great view of San Francisco Bay. This is a drinking spot in the weekends so if you go during the day, be prepared for the smell if urine. There is a nice guy there that sells bottled beverages and snacks. There are a ton of hiking trails around a as well.

The view is incredible! The only thing that yakes away from the experience is all yhe car noise.

The best time to drop by and park are obviously on clear nights! The location gives you a fantastic view of Berkeley, the baybridge, Port of Oakland and the city in view as well. Parking here is limited but there are more spaces along the road just up a little further. If you continue along up the road coming from the hwy 24 end...you will eventually make your way through the Berkeley campus and into downtown Berkeley. Tilden park is on your right side if your incline to bring your family here during the day.

I pretty much live here, its beautiful, i love this place. best place to go and get away from everything, and enjoy nature, i love it. BRING your significant other or meet with friends, but on a clear night the view from the cities are amazing!

Nice smoke spot but way too foggy at night. When its clear you have a beautiful overlook of the city.

If you have to threaten your guide with the fluffy chair in order to get them to give up the keys to the tour audi or to take you here, dont think, just DO IT. but dont blame me if its foggy or on the way down it is so foggy amd visibility is less than 1 foot and you hit a earth berm ... i know nothing and my words are hyperbole, and always remember: i dont recall =)

The views are nice, but most of the overlooks are unfortunately trashed. There is garbage everywhere (and overflowing trashcans, if there even is one at all), and it smells like urine everywhere.

Great view of the beautiful skyline of San Francisco at this location. However, the parking area is basically uneven dirt and sand and at times quite crowded with cars. Marijuana smokes also. May not be safe for bringing young children. Can be a great place for couples and group of friends.

The view is amazing at night, plus I like being there which is a close distance driving from my house.

No place better to relax in the Bay Area. On this specific day I took my date to here in the day time and the view is just out of this world. We had pulled out to take a peek and it was overcast but generally you can see Oakland and the bay bridge and all of San Francisco.

Great view, but like I said about Claremont canyon, some losers think its a trash dump. Please leave the place cleaner than when you got there.

It is a great place to park your car and just look at the beautiful view of Golden Gate and Downtown San Francisco. However, humans are a thankless and destructive species. The hill is covered in garbage like a landfill. When you are there, take a minute to reflect. This maybe the microcosm of damage we have done to this planet by our selfish actions.

If you enjoy driving, theres nothing but winding mountain roads that lead to and from this awesome spot that towers over Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco, Emeryville, Albany, and Richmond. The breathtaking views just never get old! The best part of all is that its usually quiet and people only stop here for brief periods of time, so you can feel like you have the bench and peaceful views all to yourself for a stretch. For those who dont like to share the road: beware of bicyclists littering the roadways here!

Best place to relax and view the bay area night or day. Does get busy - can be hazardous to get out of if youre on a blind corner. Caution saves lives.

Road to reach this place is elevated, narrow and curvey hence it makes this drive interesting, usually lot of bikers prefer this route. Usual problem at this place is difficult to get parking on street during weekends sunset time, otherwise its a great spot to sit and watch sunset at evening, once it gets dark you can have beautiful SF city n bay bridge view. Usually i prefer city view once it gets dark due to city n bay bridge lights.. but this beautiful view can get spoiled on foggy day.

My fav spot in the hills

Strooooooong urine scent, very trashy as in trash and litter, on a clear day, incredible but not often clear. Still makes for great photos and you can watch buildings show up and disappear

On a nice summer evening, this is the best spot to be overlooking the bay with views to the city and bridges. There is no stripped or paved parking so extra consideration is required

Yes right outside of Oakland the is a mountain side that used to hold an enormous sequoia redwood. The tree was cut down and the remains of the trees roots are on part of the roadway that has petrified to stone.
