This is my favor trail. It is heaven on earth.I was here on 6/8/20.It wasn’t difficult for me to find parking.I was hiking around 3 miles with 945 feet of the elevation change,Short but very pretty steep hike, but it was so fun and immersive every second was well worth it.I highly recommended hiking shoes, water, sunscreen, and hat.60 percent of the trail are exposed on the sun.I was able to see Berkeley bay, SF bay, Bay Bridge, Twin peaks, GGB,Richmond Bridge,Everything, everything...It is spectacular of PANORAMIC breathtaking view...I had some butterflies kept following me around.I will definitely come back next time without even thinking a bit for the sunset.

A great place to hike, amazing views of the Golden Gate and UC Berkeley campus. Great gateway to other trails to Tilden and Sibley. Pack water as there is none in the preserve.

Fantastic views of the San Francisco Bay Area, especially breathtaking at night. Would be perfect if there was a set aside viewing area since the best spot currently is a little close to the road for my liking.

Great hike to see the entire east bay as well as SF if it’s clear enough. Hidden just above Claremont hotel. It is very steep so take your time but trust me it’s worth it!

The fire trail runs more or less parallel to the ridge trail. Wonderful views of the Berkeley campus, San Fracisco Bay and Iakland on one side and Claremont Canyon on the other side. Several access points. My favorite is to drive up winding twisting Panorama Way and then take a loop that travels on both trails.

This is probably the most fun hiking spot Ive been to. The trails are beautiful and really fun to walk through with my two German Shepherds. We are so conked after hiking for an hour. The trails are not just straight paths. They are up and down and sideways. Not an easy trail to walk through if youre out of shape like me. Ive gone on hikes with my dogs before and never had a trail made my calves hurt so bad the next few days after. Though, the trail was so fun and immersive that every second was well worth it. My dogs are also just as tired as I was after and they were happy with how fun the trails were. Im definitely coming here again!

Best place for hiking near Berkeley. Slight windy road to go to the top. But one you reach the top there is roadside parking. The view of bay area from the top is amazing. Quiet place foe hiking. Not many people. No washrooms.

We love the Claremont reserve. There are several nice trails with wild berries. The canyon is beautiful and provides beautiful views from the topI only have to complaints. People let their dogs poop on the trails and leave it behind! Also, a few of our favorite trails are unmaintained and one of them has been closed do to an active beehive, but its been a long time so I dont think theyre planning to open the trail again for a while.

If you drive up to the entrance at the top (off Stonewall), the view is immediately fabulous. However the hike is very hilly. Almost a climb rather than a hike. Bring hiking sticks just so you can descend. Parts of the hike is in shade - wonderful evergreens standing majestic. Personally I find the hike entirely too hilly. We went from the Stonewall entrance up north and connected to the Skyline Ridge Trail, which leads you up towards Tilden.

A short walk from Berkeley, you can get all the exercise you ever wanted and more. Built on the side of a cliff, these paths are not bothered in winding gently as many paths are, but instead make the climbs nearly vertically to where, at soaring heights, you can stare out across the city to the bay, and the Golden Gate, and the Pacific Ocean beyond. You can swing high into the air, and pray the rope holding you from the high limb of the tree doesnt break and send you to your death. You can leave one morning energetic and smiling, and return in the evening spent and filthy, and have loved every minute of it.
