The gate was closed at the bottom of the hill but it was brisk outside and an invigorating walk with my honey. It was great way to warm up. The lookout post was great but the tunnel was closed to due to falling rocks so we werent able to get some cool photos but the lookout definitely made up for it!

Great hiking trails! Quiet peaceful and beautiful picturesque views. Great place to get the family out of the house. Dogs are welcome too. No bathroom facilities.

Sehome Hill? More like see sea and mountain hill (unless your home is in the direction of the sound in which case you may see it from the top.) Rediculously pretty view from the top, sunset and sunrise visits strongly recommended. I may not know what an Arboretum is but I just know that I like them now

Great place to take a hike and blow off some steam. Plenty of different hiking trails to try, and its close proximity to the university is awesome for students.

What a nice place in the middle of Bellingham. Even though the local old tunnel is now closed at the top because of deterioration, everything else is great. I love to hike up and around the hill when in town. Great exercise. The observation tower at the top is basic but a nice touch. Cant beat this for a quick exercise hike. Parking is easy off of Bill Mcdonald dr. You can drive up, or hike on the road or on the parallel trails.

A really easy trail system with markers and a map. The old tunnel is right next to the upper parking lot, no hiking required. Nice views from lookout points, lots of other people on the trail but it didnt feel crowded, just people passing here and there. Also a lot of dogs but only 2 were off leash and I didnt come across any poop which is always a concern in a trail system that allows dogs. Its beautiful and would be easy to wander around for hours looking at trees.

Considering I tore down a tower Im building a new tower and a small area around a gorgeous area I was impressed by the area literally had a huge buck walk right up between us like we didnt exist while were preparing to work in the morning that was awesome

You can definitely drive all the way to the top closest to the tunnel but we left our car at the bottom. It took us 20 minutes to walk on the paved road and it was fun and easy to do with two kids. Great hike!

A cool and quiet (other than the train whistle in the distance) hike along the path to the tower. Unfortunately, the tunnel has been gated off.

El

Its beautiful here, I guess Im just used to arboretums being places with labels so I can learn my plants and trees! Also, the tunnel was closed which was a bummer.

Amazing trails. There is gravel roads or hilly, terrain routes depending on skill level. Views at the top, but they are kind of blocked by the trees. On one side is Sehome High School, and the other side Western.

An
Review №13

I visit the arboretum almost daily on my runs. I love how accessible it is from campus and the surrounding neighborhoods. It can get busy on the weekends but is never too crowded... Theres also lots to explore- the nearby University students have rumoured hidden spots throughout the park.

Nice walking trails. Gorgeous view of Bellingham and the surrounding mountains from the tower. Be prepared for a workout! Perfect on foot, little rough pushing a stroller but we made it. Bit of advice: if you really want a workout, park at the top of the hill and walk all way around. Pretty trees and landscape.

This place is great for hikes, dog walks, and scenic views. I had a wonderful time at the watch tower and the tunnel, but I do recommend that you be cautious when walking on the steep slopes. But if you can be careful then just have a great time and enjoy the scenic views and excersise.

Review №22

Great hike, pretty decent trails, a lot of them are super steep and narrow, so be careful. The tower shakes and sways so if that freaks you out dont climb it. There are two parking spots at the base of the hill and one at the highest point. Its just under a 3 mile hike if you go full circle. Also the right trail from the bottom of the hill is steeper than the left, closest to WWU.

Beautiful stroll through local flora and fauna. The hike up can be tasking but the canopy of trees, draping ferns and incredible boulders gives you plenty of opportunity to pause and take a lovely beat. If you are visiting, be prepared to share the trails with classes and students from WWU.

Well, sehome arboretum was as beautiful and green as I remember from the days of no vehicle (or no insurance), bemoaning 8am classes, cheap beer, and collosal pizza that could feed you and the roommate for a week. The view is non existent, as are the 35mm pictures we lost in the 3,580,632 moves we made. Ahhhh, but the smell of the growing foliage, that never changes. If you do not have memories of this hill, it is a fine place to make them.

The trails are numerous, and so are the homeless people and littering.... It is a beautiful and refreshing place to go running or dip off trail to explore. Mycology students are also fond of this place in the fall. The trails are a bit expansive, Id suggest picking one each time you go and learning the map over time. I know the arboretum very well and Ive explored it over the course of 12months.

The Sehome Arboretum is just a wonderful place to hike, walk, run or explore. Many parts of it are off leash, so your dog can have a great time too. This is not a typical arboretum; it is a giant slice of native woods that has many trails and a few roads in it. It is a glorious place for a walk near the Western Wash University campus and there are many fun surprises to explore, from hidden paintings to moss designs and lovely murals. Go! This is a gem.

Trails maintained for any access level. Most of the trails are gently sloped so its easy to take a long or short walk through the woods. There are several paved roads so even in rainiest conditions its easy to walk without getting your shoes muddy. Observation tower is built sturdy to last many generations of enjoyment.

Great hike with many different paths and difficulties. Took the family and kids did pretty good. The maps are a little confusing and it would be nice to have distance markers so you know what you are in for. The tower was really cool with a great view. Really enjoyed the dirt paths that usually followed the main ones but with a little more adventure. Make sure to park at the top. Overall well maintained and cant wait to explore some more.
