Gorgeous historical monument

This historic home belonged to South Carolinas longest serving African American political leaders. Outstanding architecture and well preserved home. Part of a great walking tour of historic Beaufort, South Carolina.

It was really special to hear of the story of Robert Smalls life after his heroic taking of the Confederate ship and taking it to the Union troops. Then, how he went on to live a very accomplished middle and the home he bought and lived in in Beaufort.

An amazing story of courage and intelligence, read about him!

I wasnt able to go inside because it is a private residence. But the story of Robert Smalls is remarkable.

Beaufort SC is a beautiful low country small town USA.

Great history beautiful property unfortunately it is privately owned and you cant view the inside of the house...so disappointing

I thought that since this was a historical landmark it might be a museum but its not. People live there. So please be respectful.
