This was an interesting place. I liked looking at the cannons and things outside, but theres a fee for the actual museum. There is a small gift shop you can visit though, which was helpful in figuring out where I wanted to go instead lol but for a family of four, I couldnt really afford going there. It is a pretty neat building though!!

Cool looking building and some aspects outside you can view while attending the visitors center. To high of price for my family of five for regular admission for us to go in. Maybe a price break in off hours would entice more folks.

Walk in the footsteps of the owners of the dwellings & also the slave help who sustained life there. Handheld recorders with headsets explain every area bringing visual sites to life. (Not animated) The house & grounds are well-maintained.

Learned a lot of new things about Beaufort. It is mostly wall displays but they are done well and are informative. Staff was very helpful. Entrance fees are reasonable. Short walk from downtown.

It’s nice that it is free for active military and family but wish there was more to the museum and the A/C worked better.

Awesome setup in a very historic and renovated firehouse. It houses the National Parks Service, and the director, Scott, is a class act and super knowledgeable about the entire Reconstruction Era.

The museum guid knows so much about the area. The tickets were some how expensive for such a small museum. His hospitality and exciting stories made the whole difference.

Very small museum and pretty pricey. Definitely a one time gig and dont go with children, I was so worried that my two kids would break something since many displays were just out in the open. The folks working there were so lovely and the curator gave us such amazing info but considering the cost to benefit ratio, things were a bit off for us. We may come back another time to see the soon to open emancipation exhibit ( in a close building) which looks to be pretty cool.

Small museum with lots of history. I enjoyed that this was not a tour-led museum, yet had a tour guide present that provided excellent historical information and answered questions. Exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff. It was a very visit.

This was a fantastic stop with amazing staff. As part of the best NPS site the staff was so kind and accommodating. They were welcoming, allowed us to take pictures and helped us plan our time in Beaufort.I recommend everyone stop here if they are visiting the area. It is absolutely the best starting point and us rich in history.

Tiny tiny community museum. Bought the tickets on the ground level, the staff was very friendly. The museum is on he second level. Wonderfully put together despite the many mismatched artifacts, which as the guide explained, are what they have received as donations. Worth the $7.
