My family and I Visit here this place a lot all year round, its among one of our favorite places to visit and hang out at. Also youll love the 5 waterfalls their is between the gorge that was carved out by the creek there. Its mostly made of sandstone, with some Dolomite and Shale stone. Enjoy the views and scenic routes, you wont regret it I promise you that.

Pewits nest was kind of a local secret swimming hole. Its a long, deep canyon that turns from shallow wading to a series of waterfalls flowing into large pools that are deep enough to dive from the cliff sides. Its a little land that time forgot. In the summer its beautiful and green. There is almost no parking here a problem on weekends.

Experience the beauty of central Wisconsin! Pewits nest is located just outside of Baraboo, Wisconsin. Parking located at the entrance to the park. An easy hiking trail follows along top of the sandstone cliffs overlooking a series of waterfalls. Skillet creek cuts the sandstone walls, providing fun for the family to include swimming, cliff diving and class 3-4 whitewater after a heavy rain. Would highly recommend for anybody looking for a thrill or to just simply soak in the natural beauty. Visit kayaking pewits nest on YouTube for a walk through of the park followed by kayaking the falls.

The hike was really fun and cool. As for the nest it was all fenced off, so you couldnt get a good look unless you went in the water (which gets deep fast). A lot of people going out of bounds in the closed area to do some jumping off the rocks. Not a fun place to take a child who wants to explore and you are teaching to obey the signs and follow rules. Hope more people follow the rules so this wonder doesnt get destroyed and people are able to safely visit

Great spot to view unique geographic features as well as a river. I went here as a child and there were no fences blocking people from enjoying the area and a much smaller parking lot maybe could fit 4 cars. We used to walk through the creek and dive into the pools. Now it seems like a different place but still brings back fond memories.

Great setting, really unique! People need to clean up after themselves though. Some jerks brought glass down since. I spent most of my day picking up broken bottle pieces so.no one slipped and cut themselves. Please if you see people there with glass containers ask them to be considerate. Also dont climb the rocks. There are paths to get safely to the top. Use commen sense people.

There is a short quarter-mile trail here that leads to a beautiful watering hole. The water comes in from a small waterfall and the area is surrounded by canyon type walls. The water depth ranges so that you could walk or swim. There can, on occasion, be a significant amount of people there. If youre looking for a more isolated view, you might have to cross some trail closure fences.

Had an amazing time here. This is my first time visiting 13 days after my birthday and let me tell you it is beautiful in October. It does have a steep hill and the parking lot definitely need construction but it9 worth visiting none the less. My family enjoyed the beautiful scenic location and it was therapeutic. Highly recommend visiting this place if you want to switch up state forests and parks from time to time. Cant wait to see it again!

This place gets crowded fast and there isnt much parking but if you go early in the morning you can do the bike quick. It takes about 10 mins to walk to the river. It kinda reminds be of the glitches you see on the Dells upper boat tours. Its cool to see but probably will only do it once.

Its nice to go during the off season, but its usually really busy during the summer. A lot of the annoying Illinois vacationers flood this place and ruin the fun. Its a beautiful place to hike/swim, but its a shame so many Chicagolanders show up most of the time.

Ja
Review №64

Be prepared to swim if you want to see any of the views. Instead of building a safe viewing point, or allowing access to the gorge, park management put up a fence restricting you to the swamp, or going waist deep to see the truly beautiful parts. Its either that or hope big brother doesnt catch you hopping the fence.

Found on a waterfall search for the baraboo area. Stopped on a Tuesday thinking it would be unpopulated and serene. I was correct, unpopulated and serene indeed. However.... due to fencing and closed areas, threat of fines and general nannyness there is but 1 tiny view of a three foot waterfall. Although you can obviously hear the rush of more and speculate the beauty one MIGHT enjoy, there is NOWHERE from which you can see falls unless you are willing to risk paying a hefty fine and cross a brand new and ridiculously placed fence which stands between you and whatever beauty many seem to have enjoyed in the past. I suggest a short hike up a steep hill (tough for a 60yo smoker) should be rewarded with a sign that reads HA HA! MADE YOU LOOK! at least then humor would be appreciated.

A very beautiful, very popular place. Currently very torn up as they install a new fence to keep people from jumping from the top of the gorge into the pools below. This was not stopping folks. I saw two people get seriously injured in the short 45 minutes I was there. I recommend exercising caution if you choose to swim here.

Beautiful new path from the parking lot leads to a fork. We first turned right, along the flat trail, and came to a pretty stream that exited the gorge. It wasnt easy, but we could look upstream and glimpse a little waterfall. Then we went back and took the very steep trail to the left. At the top we could see the gorge, not the stream at its bottom - but we could hear beautiful whitewater sounds gurgling & splashing. All new fencing throughout.

Beautiful area, loads of waterfalls and wildlife, a very calm walk through the woods. Though it seems an increasing amount of people arrive and it does play a role in how the area looks so I wouldnt be surprised if local officials created stricter rules for permitance since currently you just drive and park off the road and walk in like any other nature area. But i digress. A beautiful place to rest your soul for a moment or a lifetime.
