Great park! Like how it is kinda hidden. Lots of space. Plenty of toilet paper in the bathroom. Has a dog faucet. Cool looking playground. Games are played there. Bike trails runs along the park. Has parking lot on the outside of the park to your left as youre coming into the park. I like going there. Probably one of the best parks in town in central Bakersfield. I give it a thumbs up.

Great environment for family outings and chilling with friends, with playground equipment and plenty of open space for the kids. The grass is straight terrible though, full of stickers and crab grass instead of something more soft and manageable like the moss that grows on golf courses (like walking on green clouds in comparison). Apparently the safety and comfort of childrens feet when theyre running barefoot isnt that important to community developers but thats only my opinion. Could definitely use with more watering fountains and more trees that arent over pruned while the river isnt flowing to provide a decent cooling factor.

Yokuts part was easy to find and there is a large enough space to go practice a sport. When I went i was practicing football. The lights are almost all the on but Im not for certain. Overall this park was pretty good and it was pretty clean.

I love the bike trail here, it gives a beautiful view of a pond with many fishers. Unfortunately, alot of the grass had spikes and stickers so we were unable to enjoy our lunch and son walking around.

Stopped on a whim when traveling through Bakersfield, great stop for kids to rest and stretch. We ate a picnic lunch under a big shady tree and then used the playground. We’ll definitely stop again while in town. Playground is great for all ages.

This park needs some lawn maintenance but otherwise I love it. The squirrels hop around and live in the ground. Theres a play structure for 2-5 years old and one for 5-12 years old. Its clean, almost no graffiti, very little litter, no stickiness from alcohol. There are a few homeless that walk around, but I dont think anyone lives in the park. There are lots of tables and shad structures, plus charcoal grills. Its a pretty quiet place too since theres a hill between the park and Truxtun.

Came for the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful BBQ and was impressed by the play equipment and how large the park is. I had looked at it on maps before and it did not seem as big as it feels. There are a lot more slides and variety than Ive seen at many of the other parks structures. There was enough room for roughly 200-300 people at the BBQ, a soccer game on one field and 2 more almost unused field sections. Two big perks are direct river access if you want to watch the river. Last, and most important, full bathrooms with flushing toilets. They were as clean as you would expect a park bathroom to be.

The play equipment area was clean and well maintained. For most of our visit (2 pm to 5 pm) an unmarked car was prominently parked on the grass near the play equipment and soccer fields. The park got busy while we were there. But everyone was very nice and all the kids played well together.

What the comics and pundits dont tell you about Bakersfield is that it is a great place to raise a family, and if you are choosy some of the schools are excellent. Another treasure is the Kern River Parkway. Whoever had the vision to create this deserves high praise. The parkway meanders along the Kern River, which is dry most of the year. But there is wildlife, such as bobcats, egrets, herons, hawks, harriers, and the like. I dont know the exact distance of the Parkway, but you can ride your bike along it and enjoy the scenery, as I have for 25 years. Its a safe place to cycle, that is except for the moms who push strollers 3 abreast (pun intended) across the path, so you have to give them a jingle to let them know youre coming. Occaisional pit bulls are loose, but not even they can spoil a journey along this treasure. A bit of wild in the city and a treasure.

This is a great place for concerts and City events and other things for people to do such as picnicking and family get-togethers I was there for the comprehensive blood and Cancer Center Cancer Run and it was fun and there was a lot of great people there and they had booths and I had a booth there as well so it seemed to be an enjoyable place and it did not look like there was any homeless people or unusual strange people wandering around, so it is a park that I would recommend and people quite often swim in the river because I think theres a good Sand base right off of the park.

This museum is truely a hidden gem, located downtown off chester ave. Once inside youll be amazed by howmuch is actually inside. Each segment is presented with impressive quality and information. So much more to the natural history of our area than most people realize. I would highly recomend visiting. Its a great place to take guests from out of the area. There are also a lot of great restraunts within walking distance to visit before or after.
