This place was so much fun! Today, Mariann at the front desk saved us good money with the annual passes, we got our party of 6 all in, my son lives here in Texas and even though we are from Michigan, she still made it work for all of us with the Black Friday special. We got free admissions to visit the San Antonio Aquarium and the new Houston location next time we come back to Texas. This was a great deal for us, so we will be planning to visit all locations. Mariann was courteous and sweet. My kids had a great time. The place was packed! We didn’t see social distancing at all but we heard announcements often. Masks were required. Tokens are a little pricey but worth it. Devin made us feel pleased and Maricela by the snack area made it happen for us to finally have encounters. We loved the Disney music, and our kids went crazy excited when Ryan came around with the alligator. They have lemurs, a sloth, toucans, and so much more! Great experience!

This place was definitely worth a visit especially if you have children. I found the staff to be very welcoming and knowledgeable Ryan in particular takes a great amount of pride in his job & cares greatly for the multitude of creatures in the facility.I feel honored that I even made a friend named Sunshine who perched on my shoulder for most of my visit & was sad to see her go upon my exit. I will definitely be going back & would recommend this place for a visit.

The Austin Aquarium is one of the coolest aquariums Ive ever been too... Theres not just dress life here, but an array of small and exotic animals. The best part about the place is you can just about touch all of them... Which also means that theyre fairly free for the most part. The first time I visited the entry way was full of parrots flying freely from shoulder to shoulder of the workers. Its first that they love their animals and their animals love them.

I enjoyed my visit. Surprised it was in a strip mall with half price books. The animals are all in little areas where you can get up and close. If you buy tokens at the front youre able to feed different animals. For the price of about $15 you can have a lemur sit on your lap and eat fruit from your aquarium assistant. The stingrays are the most entertaining to feed in my opinion. A little overpriced for what it is. Then buying the tokens can bring total $50-$70 depending how much you want to feed.

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. One of the things that I LOVED the most is you can interact with the animals!! You have to purchase tokens and different animals require different number of tokens, but to me it was worth it! One of the employees named Ryan was AWESOME! He was like an opened book when it came to the animals. Ryan showed compassion with everything that he did. Some of the animals that my family enjoyed best were the otters, meeting and interacting with the octopus, lemurs, and the ittle parakeets fighting over the cup of food you had in your hand!

When comparing to other aquariums it is rather small and tight. But I love what they have done with what’s available with the decor and habitats. Admission is fair. Could be cheaper but it’s not ridiculous. I came around 2pm on a Sunday and I got to see all of the fish and animals, very active. Tokens are a bit expensive for what you get. Cost $12 (4 tokens) to get to interact with the lemurs who weren’t really wanting to interact with the guest, they did refund one token so that was cool and I really appreciated that. You can feed the stingray, other species of fish, and the sharks they have. It’s an experience so I wouldn’t complain too much. Worth your first time going. BUT I wouldn’t come again and pay what I did with the admissions and tokens.

Yesterday, we decided to pass by the Aquarium but there was a line of people outside, we didn’t think it was safe for us to enter. I have to mention that a few weeks ago, we did love the place because Marianna made sure we had a wonderful experience at the aviaries and even the 3D reality machines, she was everywhere. There weren’t to many people, so we recommend you to go on weekdays instead. Thank you, Marianna!

This aquarium has been a beacon of light in a really dark damn time. Everyone that works here is so genuine and kind and has a love for what they do and sharing their knowledge. This place is my sons absolute favorite place to go. It’s not just somewhere that you stand around and stare at animals, you can actually feed and interact with them and I feel that teaches all of us a respect for creatures other than ourselves by allowing us to forge a physical connection with them. Please, go at least once. You won’t regret it.

We are members and love visiting. We probably visit once a week. However, we are constantly having to wait to get in the bird exhibit. When visiting today the attendant said he was in charge of three exhibits. On a weekend there shouldn’t be one person stationed for three exhibits. 3 other families including ours left because we were tired of waiting.

WOW such an unexpectedly fun experience!! As an aquarium, I assumed I’d see a museum of fish but this was VERY interactive, educational, and diverse. As a 24 year old, I learned so much about lemurs, sloths, birds, snakes, and animals I honestly hadn’t seen before. Like the other reviews say- yes, definitely pricey. But YES, worth every penny and would 100% go again. A smaller space than expected, but truly jam packed with adventure. The associates made the experience so much more memorable, every single of them were so passionate about the well being of their animals and the environment was very much so the ANIMALS’ world- we were just livin in it I think I walked through the entire exhibit three times!! I only have good things to say about this place. Y’all go do it!!!

The staff is really friendly and informative. Our 1st visit was a lot better since it was more hands on. With the Corona virus we could not touch or feed animals on this visit, but I totally understand. They did allow us to go through the visit multiple time. We only went through once since we went at almost closing time. My grandson loved it and thats all that matters to me. The beautiful albino boas name is Buttercup and such a lovely specimen. You can tell the stingrays miss being hand-fed. They came over to the side and shot out of the water wanting their treats. I wanted to give them all treats, but I behaved. Really small space for the amount of animals they have. They seem very money hungry. You’d think with the prices they charge that they’d be able to afford a nicer, individual building. Not a strip shopping center. I guess I expected more for the price. Take your money somewhere else. They seem understaffed, which is really unfair to the animals because it seems like they’re not cared for as well as they should. We went and the first thing we noticed was the location it was very small about the size of the Salvation Army right next to it. We drove around the back and saw small cages holding multiple animals in the ally way. Going in the smell was awful but that’s somewhat expected because of the animals. The employees were very nice but we hardly saw any while walking through the different rooms. It was very cool how interactive it was, but the animals seemed extremely hungry and were constantly up against the glass waiting for food. The otters were aggressively itching themselves as if they had flees or a rash of some sort. There are multiple animals in too small of a cage for there size or they had too many animals in one cage. There were also multiple dead cockroaches in the kids interactive areas. We have been to our fair share of aquariums and this was not a good stop. It was more depressing than anything.

The experience at the aquarium started out good, they had some cool sea life to look at, pet, and feed. Its definitely great to take your kids because its an interesting and entertaining aquarium. However, I was not expecting it to go downhill as it went. I decided to go into the interactive experience with some lemurs that you could touch inside their habitat and sit down with them and I was extremely taken aback by how the staff handled what happened. As soon as I went inside this habitat, a lemur jumped on my head and gripped my hair so I tried to tie my hair back and I guess it had looked like I had touched the lemur or went for it with my hand but I was just trying to tie my hair as I had forgotten to tie it back but it wasnt a requirement to have long hair back anyway. A young lady working in this habitat experience started unnecessarily shouting at me to get out of the habitat. I didnt have an issue being told to leave the habitat as I understand their priority is to protect the guests and the animals, mostly the animals. I do have an issue with how the staff member handled the situation and made a big unnecessary scene in front of my husband and others children. I did not receive the respect that I deserve as an adult and a guest from this staff member and that is why I am rating this experience a 1 star.

Went for my second time to do encounters with the lemurs because my first experience was pretty boring. After waiting 20min to do a lemur encounter the lady scares you by telling you everything you can’t do (and you really can’t do anything) so you get nervous to even touch the animal which is what you’re there to do. I went in and sat down and the lemurs were really friendly which was really cool and no more than 5 seconds into the exhibit I gently rub my two fingers (those are the rules) down the lemurs neck and back to pet it and got kicked out immediately because my fingers were on its neck. It was completely my fault but 15$ down the drain and I was pretty upset because that was the only thing I wanted to do was pet lemurs. Not to mention before that, the workers are scratching and kissing the lemurs which is everything they tell you not to do so the fact I got kicked out for a little mistake and no warning is not cool.

More of a small zoo than aquarium. Understand this is a private organization and not state or city sponsored. You will have to purchase token to get to intact with some of the animals and feed them but not if you just want to look at them. They will have some animals to interact with that dont require tokens like the Macaws and Python. The sloth is on his schedule so dont be upset if they wont sell the tokens to see him. I would recommend going to the website and seeing what animals you want to interact with so you know how many tokens you need to buy. The number of tokens are for each person and not per group. My son and I enjoyed our time there and looking forward to going back.

The interactive experience was really unique to this aquarium. My problem is that every fish was begging for food and didn’t seem to be fed properly. From my knowledge, allowing every fish or reptile to be fed from the public, will cause inconsistency in their diet. Every day can valet in how much the public feeds, so one day the animals can be over fed or under. To me it looked like they were underfed. A few of the koi had gashes and the tanks looked over capacity. It was also a little sad to see the two otters in such a small enclosure. It’s a very very small aquarium that can be done in maybe 20 minutes. I would recommend going some place else to experience these lovely fish and reptiles.

While on our way back home to Nashville we decided to kill some time (we had a late flight) and take in the some sightseeing and check out the Austin aquarium. We actually thought Google Maps had taken us to the wrong place because is sent us to what looked like was a strip mall. Believe it or not is was an aquarium. The aquarium was set up in something along the size of an old grocery store. The staff was excellent, helpful and knowledgeable concening questions on any of the exhibits. However the aquarium itself looks like a overused hodgepodge building with a mixture of aquatic and animal life. It gave the impression of a aquatic pet store. A number of the exhibits were in need of repair. We have been to a number of different aquarium locations, most recently Chattanooga and Gatlinburg in Tennessee. Those aquariums are top notch and well worth the price of admission. It may be that I am comparing the Austin Aquarium to our recent visits to those locations in Tennessee. If you do make it to the Austin Aquarium, we hope you have a great visit.

Of all the aquariums Ive visited, this one is by far the smallest, smelliest, overly interactive, and worst maintained. Majority of the fish are crowded into their tanks and look depressed. They instantly come to the top of the tanks begging for food whenever anybody comes close to it. There are a lot of non-sealife too, especially birds. Most of these exhibits are interactive by allowing patrons to pet the birds, lemurs, sloth ($40 per person), and otters. All of the fish food and animal interactions require the purchase of tokens ($2 for 1) on top of their, fairly cheap, tickets. Im not an animal care expert, but its very obvious that these animals are being used only for profit and do not live in the proper habitats. There are plenty of violations throughout the entire aquarium as well as animal cages located behind the building, where they most likely put animals in at night. Overall, you get what you pay for, a fish store pretending to be an aquarium where the animals arent properly taken care of.However, if you are still insistent of visiting, then I highly recommend researching their owner, Vince Covino, and previous aquarium that they tried to run in Portland, Oregon where hundreds of animals died within a three month period. As well as why it got shut down for animal abuse and the illegal attainment and transport of wildlife. I wish I did my research before coming to just waste my money. I wouldnt be surprised if animal rights activists were to come and actually got the place shut down.

This place left me very pleasantly surprised. If you are expecting to walk into a big building with a lot of things behind glass you will be surprised too. This is a complete hands on and interactive experience. We did a deal on Groupon which was great to save on at the door admission prices. They also sell add ons to your ticket such as where you can go interact hands on with lemurs or you can feed the alligators. That costs extra but you will have plenty of fun without that if you dont want to get that. This place is great for toddlers to adults. They have a small playground area inside too and reasonable prices in the snack bar with a good little selection. One of the things I enjoyed most was how friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic the staff was. They were all eager to interact with us too and give us knowledge about the animals. They also had staff around with different creatures and some dressed in costume. A very fun place to spend a few hours. Highly recommend!

This place actually beat my expectations. I was able to find a discounted deal online to make the entry more bearable, but even at full cost the experience would have been worth it. We were greeted by a staff with a snake for the kids to touch if they wanted and some really fun displays. There is a lot of thought put into the displays both in and outside the tanks. There are plenty of birds and other wildlife. We noticed throughout some great animals you could touch, and activities, food, play areas. There is really a lot to do. There were a lot of people but it didnt feel crowded. Will visit again.

Excellent place for kids. Although not very large in size but they have different kinds of aquatic animals and also reptiles, lemurs, monkeys and birds. Their activities are interactive and fun for little children. When it comes to entertaining your kids, this place in Austin is perfect for it.

We came here on a Tuesday, hoping it would have less people, which it did.If you are looking for the same experience during Covid, come on Mon-Wed, the slowest times, according to the employees. They also have social distancing stickers in place, so, we can be responsible customers and follow it.This is our 4th visit and we love it here!It helps to know that this place is small, in a strip center so, expect to see less selection than some other aquariums you may be accustomed to. While it may seem plain on the outside, dont judge a book by its cover. The opportunity to have far more interaction with the various creatures, from feeding to petting, is amazing. There are just a few simple rules to follow and you pay for each one. It can be pricey but, you know it goes toward the care of the animals and support.of the employees so, why not? They utilize the limited space well to incorporate a variety of creatures. You can join lemurs in their mini habitat, feed stingrays and sharks, plus see reptiles, birds, fish and more. It is a nice variety.See Ryan, especially, along with the other employees, for some friendly and informative conversation as they seek to educate you to help further enjoy your experience. Each employee was a great communicator. All of them were friendly and welcoming. They love what they do and care for the animals, actually knowing each animal by name. Keep up the good work.If youre looking for an up close, personal experience with several of Gods creatures, come on by.Well be back!

I was not expecting much when we pulled up to the entrance. Weve been to a lot of aquariums all over the world. We were so incredibly surprised and excited by how Hands-On this aquarium was. Allowing us to interact with so many different species but still ensuring that every animal in their care was properly housed, fed, and kept in a safe environment. Not a huge aquarium, but definitely worth a visit. As far as the overall experience goes, we enjoyed it just as much as many larger aquariums.

We had the greatest time. From getting our hands “cleaned” by shrimp to learning about sharks to feeding sting rays. So many fun activities for kids and the staff was awesome. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

Just save money for tokens the enconters are awesome. We loved the lemurs! There was so much to pet and feed. We had a lot of fun. The staff was super nice and the animals loved them so they must be doing a great job with them.

Great experience. Perfect for younger kids. They have a lot of hands on stuff just not as many animals as I would expect but enjoyable for the entire family!

Decent Aquarium, where you can pretty much touch and interact all animals. You can get the admission tickets through Groupon, but still have to buy feeding tokens. There is a $5 off 10 tokens when you check in Yelp. The facility is well maintained and the staff were courteous and friendly. Kids love this place and easy to spend couple of hrs.

Awesome staff! They gave us free admission to come back post COVID. However, this aquarium is super small. But, the kiddos had a blast and enjoyed their time.
